Maggie Smith was a super human... Modest, great talent, intelligent, great sense of humor, never flashy, just a wonderful human being and family matriarch.
I totally agree, I’m almost 94 and thanks to Internet I have never ceased enjoying watching everything I could find. Every interview was a jewel. Thank you for everything she gave us.
My favorite movie was the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. An all star cast of the queens of cinema, but Maggie was my favorite, I adored her in that.
Wonderful Lady, Such a sad loss. She had the ability to be whoever she was portraying on the set or stage so professional and so loved. Many of us and of all ages have shed a tear for the truly great Dame Maggi Smith. Thank you for everything you gave to the world.
A pang of deep sadness hit me when I heard she died and I've been teary all day. I lost my Mother s few years ago and my Dad is 95.....no one lives forever but it's so sad to see them go. I will watch some of her movies to honor her passing.
When you saw the name Maggie Smith in the credits you knew it would be good. She will be sadly missed by all her actor colleagues and by her friends RIP 😢
This woman Maggie Smith will be deeply missed. She was truly a real celebrity, no matter the role she was wonderful. As so many like myself loved her in Downton Abbey! RIP Maggie Smith. I for one will binge watch as many of her stellar roles to honor her one final time! Thank you for this tribute on her life. From an 🇺🇸grandmother
Maggie Smith was absolutely wonderful In so many ways! I have now watched two tribute films and they are woefully inadequate to live up to this wonderful woman's career and life!
Wonderful actress. The the prime Miss Jean Brodie is the film I first saw her, magnificent proformance. She had a long full life Working until close to the end. My thoughts are with her family and friends.RIP Dame Maggie
When you mentioned her films I recalled more that I'd seen. Maybe she will be especially remembered at next BAFTA ceremony. In this day of widespread "posers" it was so memorable to experience the talents of such an authentic performer. 😊🇺🇲
Maggie Smith was not only a legend, but she was the queen of snark. I loved her! The world will not realize immediately just what it's lost. If reincarnation exists, I hope she comes back as an actress and does it all over again!
I have admired Maggie Smith for such a long time. Loved her in so many different roles. There is no one like her. God Bless her and her family. She was truly special.
Yes! Maggie Smith's artistic gift was fabulous! Her wide range of dramatic and comedic role showcased her talent! Through Harry Potter , she reached another generation and through Downton Abbey elegance and sharp wit, and the opposite in The lady in the Van , a homeless woman! Thank you, Maggie, for all the wonderful Theatre and film treasures you created in your lifetime that we and future generations can celebrate! 🎭🎬🥰🤩🥳✨💫
Mrs. H. here. I've watched this lady on Downton Abby to start with then seen her on all the Harry Potter movies. She was one talented lady and a great actress. God Bless you sweet lady you will sorely be missed😢😢😢😢😢😢
Loved her, a brilliant actress who will sorely be missed! Have followed her great career since the 1960s. Couldn't beat her famous one line zingers that she delivered with great wit! No cause of death here so guess we can chalk it up to dying from old age. Thankful that she left a lasting legacy, may she rest in peace~💜💜🎭🎭🙏
Maggie had talent, intelligence, wit, personality and a beauty that aged naturally which kept her working until the end. May she rest in peace. We loved her.
Arguably best line ever (there were so many!) "Stop that noise! I can't hear myself die." I was crying, then laughing. That's my Maggie. I love you always.❤ Immortal genius.❤❤🕊
Maggie was a brilliant and remarkable actress. May she rest in peace, her life was beautiful and she managed all health challenges with strenth. There were also various TV movies like Hot Millions where she played a great role (Patty) alongside her screen husband character played by Peter Ustinov. Quite worth mentioning. You used in your video mostly pictures of Maggie in her old age. I wish you would have selected more of those when she was a younger and indeed very attractive looking woman coinciding with the films and theatre plays she was part of.
Seeing her perform onstage was thrilling. She held her audience in the palm of her hand. She could make you fall out of your seat laughing one moment, and have you shedding tears the next. We have lost a consummate actor, a legend, and an icon of British culture. She will not be forgotten.
I will miss always for her unexpected humour, seriousness, fun side and laughter. She was a natural on the screen and I could never stop watching a series or a movie she was in. She always captured my attention whenever I saw her and she always will.
I’m really sad to hear this news she was one of my most favourite women ever I just loved her I will always remember her as miss Brodie and sister act wonderful actress rip maggie smith and thankyou for everything ❤️😊🙏
A true icon !! Who will be greatly missed 😢 a wonderful actress who was able to cross generations of movie goers with her great wit and outstanding performances
A talented and iconic actress…not just one of the greatest of her generation but of many generations… till the day she died. I could watch her for hours…it’s a truly sad day. She will be missed. RIP Dame Maggie❤😢❤😢❤😢
I adored her in everything. What a class act. She's immortal through her work, which introduced her to all of us. We became instant fans forever. We send our prayers to her family and hope our love, respect, and sense of loss is a comfort to those she loves. Rest peacefully, darling Maggie. You will shine forever. 🌟🌠
R.I.P. TO THE VERY BEST OF BRITISH . DAME MAGGIE SMITH. ( LADY GRANTHAM). SADLY MISSED AS FROM NOW . CONDOLENCES TO HER FAMILY. FROM A FAN OF " DOWNTON ABBEY " . U.K. (2024).
She will be missed. I first became one of her fans with The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. After that, whenever I saw her name, I knew I was in for a treat.
More than a women, and actress, She was an icon, a treasure even my grandson of 12 was upset and heart sore when I broke the news to him. RIP you will be solely missed and always loved 😢😢😢
I first saw her in 1970. It was a television film of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ (RSC) where she played Beatrice opposite her then-husband Robert Stephens (Benedict). It was glorious. I honestly think that Shakespeare wrote the part with her in mind. Then she was Jean Brodie. Two great roles made even better by a truly gifted actress. Vale Maggie Smith.
Being younger than Dame Maggie Smith, she was already proving her credentials in her craft long before I was aware. I didn't initially recognize her talent. With age, wisdom and awareness of life and theatre, I began to recognize what an awesome talent she was in her past roles and each casting. With her passing I realize there is a void few people could ever fill. She played the eccentric roles so well and yet uniquely with an endearing individually of foibles, acerbity, sarcasm, innuendo and endearing personality. RIP, and sad condolences to her family.
She was so great. The first movie I remember her in was Sister Act. She played the disapproving Mother Superior but you never really hated her. Wow, the Harry Potter adult actors are all going, one by one. it's very sad.
One of the nicest ladies of all time. She is such a sad loss to Britain and should be so honoured accordingly. Rest in piece Professor you are a glowing star to all who follow after you. Thank you for your services to British culture
Such a beautiful and dynamic woman. Absolutely love her. Her, Robbie Coltrane and Richard Harris made Hogwarts a most magical place that everyone wanted to go to and have as teachers. God bless you, and rest in peace lovely lady.
Maggie Smith has been one of the great actors of my generation. While I mourn her death, I am grateful that her cinematic performances at least will remain with us through the medium of dvd's, etc. When I peruse the list of credits, I am in awe of her versatility. My favourite movies remain "Tea With Mussolini" and "Ladies in Lavender". The series of movies that was "Harry Potter" of course shows her relevance with and to a new generation. Downton Abbey was the perfect vehicle for her pithy sayings, which she could deliver with the exquisite handling of aplomb, indifference, outrage, and humour! I can't remember the film where she acquires a pig in the black market during rationing in the UK, but it was a wonderfully subtle performance. I truly enjoyed the scene in "Tea With Mussolini" where she berates the Scottish officer who leads the freeing of the walled-in "ladies" and seeks to herd them into a safe place. I quote, perhaps not correctly: "Mussolini couldn't move us! Hitler couldn't move us! What makes you think that a Scotsman will move us!" I didn't know until later that this actor was one of her sons. No wonder she delivered the lines with aplomb! Rest in Peace, Dame Maggy, and may flights of angels hie thee to the heavenly stage!
A truely wonderful woman and a great actress someone we can all look up to. A very sad loss and she will be missed God Bless you Maggie we loved you in every part you played.
Loved her style of acting no fuss and her witty quotes in Downton I practically say everyday as I try to fight my aches “That I may never rise Again” You gave us many enjoyable moment and May you Rest in Pease and Thank You Dame Maggie ❤
Maggie was such an incredible, gifted actress. She shared her talent with the world for which we should be tremendously grateful. Thank u so much Dame Maggie Smith. Rest easy gracious lady. God Bless you. ❤ 🕯 🌹 🙏
I first saw Maggie in prime of Miss Jean brodie, She mesmerised then, and I have loved watching her ever since Sister Act two very different lead ladies, but it worked and also Harry potter. A great loss RIP
why is it that no one has mentioned her fantastic role as Thetis in the 1981 film , "clash of the Titans " she was awesome in that film and carried her character off with brilliance !!
It's the strangest thing. Until I heard of her death I hadn't realised what she meant to me, then it hit me. We have lost an incredible person, who had an impact on me alone I didn't appreciate until she passed. Sorry Maggie. But won't ever forget you. ❤❤❤
“From Time To Time” is a delightful, and sad movie. Dame Maggie played the grandmother role. It came out just before Julian Fellowes’ was doing the casting for Downton Abby. It is a freebie on UA-cam. If you are a D.A. fan, you would be able to pick out a total of 7 actors that appear in “From Time To Time”. The doctor from D.A. looks surprisingly different without the mustache.
Maggie Smith was a super human... Modest, great talent,

I honestly find it hard to except Maggie has passed away. She was a lady you think she will be always

I loved her wit which was evident in 'Downton Abbey' she will be very much missed by colleagues and fans alike. Rest in peace Dame Maggie 💕

You forgot the mother superior in the Sister Act films! Goodbye dear Contessa!
Loved this lady in Downtown. She was a wonderful amazing actor. Loved her. 💜💜🙏🏼🙏🏼
Going to binge watch the Harry Potter films in tribute.
A true STAR , unlike a lot of the trash on TV and flim that call themselves stars.
Maggie Smith was not only a legend, but she was the queen of snark. I loved her! The world will not realize immediately just what it's lost. If reincarnation exists, I hope she comes back as an actress and does it all over again!
Loved that word "snark". That truly described her wit and humor. She was one of my favorites.
@@evalynnchristiansen9430 one too
She was a true celebrity, loved and respected. Vale Maggie Smith. Have a safe journey.
A true ‘celebrity’ as opposed to the lightweights nowadays, who are more known for their off-screen antics than alleged talent
Irreplaceable, dear Maggie. I'm glad her family were with her.
One of her kind! Nobody could reach a candle to the great Maggie Smith!
I love Maggie Smith! What a marvelous career she achieved and shared with all of us! She will be missed for sure!❤

Though birth, marriage and death records are easily obtained in the UK.
Such a fan favorite. Sad to hear that she has left us. A true industry giant.
