This video is a great representation for Fairfax Fire and Rescue, and especially the GSVFD! Thanks for what you do guys, you FF's here have saved family members of mine multiple times, and you just saved my neighbor's home last week. All Respect.
10 years later and this video still has the best quality sound of -most- fire response videos on UA-cam. This, folks, why you DON'T use a damn GoPro as a dashcam, but instead opt for [just about any] other video recording device with a stereo mic that isn't hidden behind a cheap, plasticky waterproofing shield. :P
@robotracking 75 feet is the most common length for semis here in usa, you can get longer and wider trailers but you have to get permits, file paperwork with the dot, lot of paperwork
I've always loved watching EMS response videos. Not until recently have I EVER thought to do it as a career. I am currently doing my EMT-B training and I'll be done in April '12. Might as well do Fire as well and then in a few years try my hand at Nursing School.
Dude. 3 sirens! Epic! You don't hear THAT every day on a fire truck! Naturally, you'll only hear the electronic, powercall, or both powercall and Q. You might even hear the electronic siren and Q.
When I saw that Ambulance pass on the other side of the highway going the opposite direction, was a little curious to know how they were going to be able to get to the other side of the highway with the major traffic jam there was, but luckily the accident was on the same side of the highway they were already on
@Zantozzzz It stands for Engine 422 B meaing there is another Engine 422 at the same station. So pretty much the station this Engine is at has two Engines.
At 8:02 , green car: And that's why you don't ride that close behind an ambulance and why you also always check your mirrors before a lane change. It's amazing how people just can't figure out how to drive safely around incident scenes.
You do when the scene's happening at night! This one's happening during the day, and a fluorescent vest is mandatory for safety, otherwise, a car might hit you if they can't see you at night.
Nice work on the sirens and horns! Great work on the driving, quick and safe! Dose the hiway maintenace dept. or DOT near you help block off lanes at all in a crash like this. ! more lane of blockage would have been good I think. In the St. Paul/Minneapolis metro area of Min. we do get out DOT to help a lot of the time. The have hiway helpers to help & reg dump trcks with crash barriors mounted on truck. STAE SAFE PLEASE. Thx 4 sharing.
I hate it when you try to block a lane for FF's and people just drive around your car and get right back into that lane in front of you, like they're the only ones that matter. Sometimes they'll even stop and ask what's going on or for directions. Get OVER and STAY OUT OF THE WAY!
Hmm interesting that every department does not follow the safety requirements while on a traffic accident especially on a Busy highway.. Fire crews must no matter what when working an accident they must wear a safety vest every department members that working the accident. More people are most likely to see the safety vest then a fire fighter jacket.
2 years later.. lol, hey. So yeah, in Germany you clear the middle lane (or clear and create a middle lane) for emergency vehicles in jammed traffic. If you fail to do so (as of Oct 2017) you are fined 320 euro (us$380) and you are banned from driving for a month. They have had to continue to raise the penalties through the roof in light of such situations as the 18 people who died in a bus fire in Muenchenberg when rescue workers reported they were blocked in by vehicles that did not form an emergency lane, or from motorists who slowed to take pictures of people burning alive.

@dangerjp Actually E422-B "Bravo" is actually the SECOND engine at the GSVFD and is run MOSTLY by VOLUNTEERS. E-422 is MOSTLY career firefighters
I'm not a fan of the Powercall, but great use of the Q and air horns..reminds me of calls around here, long distances and anticipation
#! were you guys going the wrong way?
#2 was the Rescue just driving by or were they originally on the call?
Dude. 3 sirens! Epic! You don't hear THAT every day on a fire truck! Naturally, you'll only hear the electronic, powercall, or both powercall and Q. You might even hear the electronic siren and Q.
Damn that Jake brake sounds good!
@Engine944 , Those Ambulances are heavy duty Frightliner M2's ambulances.
nice work by the fire dept, but why was the troopers car not blocking a lane like it should be?? That's standard procedure everywhere?
I thought a fire truck serves as a barricade when there is an accident on a highway? As in protect the crash scene from any incoming cars?
Yes he blocked traffic.
make more ! . one of the clearest video's ive seen yet great job !!!
Love the jake brakes

Haha I love our engine that thing is awesome I didnt know anyone filmed us
and the only time they should not be wearing the vest is during fire fighting operations....other than that always always always wear a safety vest.
you should have closed the two lanes to the left cuz those trucks were to close and where is your safety vests
