    I like that you're building up on the previous concepts to give it a richer context. Awesome video!
    What I found funny in the video is that the same 10thP redhead guy keeps falling to the same T-kimura on different matches haha

      Thanks man! Honestly a lot of it is unintentional but it is really emphasizing to me that little principles apply in a lot of scenarios. Like I totally didn’t plan to mention the extension vs contraction dilemma but as I was making the video I just stumbled into connecting the dots.
      Hahaha fool me once! He was definitely more on his toes in that match with Garry but Garry is persistent haha

    This position is called Star Gazer. A kimura trap is any time or place you lock a kimura grip.

    Another great post, Thanks! Ryan Hall's DVD "Open Elbow" is simple and extremely effective. From what little I've seen from John Danaher he's evolved Jiu-Jitsu to another level. I treat the Omoplata and Kimura as positions. Basically the same concept.

      Thank you! Yeah Ryan Hall’s stuff is definitely on my list of things to check out. Issue is that list keeps getting longer and longer it seems haha

I got one more shot Tuesday if work co-operates my hunting ally that has access to 400acres of private (from his in-laws) got an elk, moose and 2 deer last week so I have enough meat to get through to March.

      @@LIMIBJJ he strictly gun hunts. He doesn’t have time to practice as he’s doing masters engineering. The private land is a friend of his father in law and they strictly limit access so the area is game rich. I’m not in the club “yet”. If I continue to help haul out moose carcass I’ll get there.

  • @kaniran1
    @kaniran1 2 роки тому +1

    Awesome break down... Since I am new to BJJ I focus on escapes and defence. Asked my coach what I should take as offence to be a threat. "You are strong focus on the Kimura" - building a system around this super diverse grip is nearly endless I feel like the Kimura , t-Kimura could last you till the higher belts...
    Sprinkle In a solid mount , back control and leg locks . I think you could be golden for a long time - anything you would add?

    • @LIMIBJJ
      @LIMIBJJ  2 роки тому

      I think that is great advice from your coach. I love the kimura and like the idea of giving beginners something to work on that they can use from any position. The kimura is just that.
      I think everything you have listed should keep you busy for a few years. The one thing I would maybe add is half guard. You said you are focusing on escapes and then listed mount and back control and leg locks. You have to get on top somehow and half guard is probably the best way to transition from defense to offense very quickly
