    You folks have amazing stamina going through what you do to setup and take down and activities of daily living. I really hope you get your new RV sooner rather than later. You have certainly paid your dues. We appreciated camping in our motor home when we were actively doing that - made me appreciate all of our equipment.
    Keep smiling and stay safe!

      Thats why we all buy trailers, 5th wheels, motorhomes. I tent camped with the kids growing up. I am so done with that, feel your PAIN! That is why we bought a 36 ft class A, I say now let it rain. You will love your new trailer. And long as bears can not climb a ladder, your good. We have had black bears walk thru our campsite at night while outsde. Never bothered us, just scaried the sh@# out of us. They look at us and we look at them and that is about all that has happened. We do not trust them and keep our distance. Thanks guys, have fun!

    Really good video of the realities people need to be aware of - very informative and well done. I like your interactions and energy together.
    I hope that when you get your new rig, you'll be less reluctant to use water for cleaning dishes, as the paper and plastic you go through presently are a worse offense to environment than water usage is.
    Keep up the good work. you're an inspiration!

    I might be just “Scratching the Bucket” but I think a Couple of days in a Hotel/Motel/Lodge/Air-B&B/Hut/Bear Cave would be necessary for Chris and Aaron about now. I agree that the RV probably won’t be ready until November (2022?).

    I know you all are in your new rig now, but for future tent camping side trips I would recommend carrying a Jetboil and some freeze dried meals. Next Mile Meals makes some well balanced meals, and Packit Gourmet has some super flavorful meals and lots of "pantry items" (everything from quick cook freeze dried rice and veggies to condiment packets). Makes for handy backup in the rig to. Also for cold, no water meals, whole wheat tortillas and mayo can turn all kinds of other ingredients into something tasty.

    Rain and food preparation when tent camping is difficult! Bad memory making pancakes in downpour. In our Roof tent, we found it better to be stationery for few days. Good to see parts of Colorado getting more rain. We're just outside of Denver and rainfall is light here. I'm with Aaron researching bears--the fact they'll go after toothpaste, sunscreen, etc. You really need to be careful to store all your smelly stuff in bear box or cab. One roof tent person told me they stop and cook in one place, then drive to another to sleep. They moved everyday however. It is easy to be concerned about bears, but I've been guilty of over-worrying. We went to Glacier few weeks ago and didn't see any bears, just a paw print from Black Bear! Most bears probably do want to avoid you if they hear you, it seems. It's cool you saw a Moose, though--awesome! Kudos to you doing this full-time--you'll have good times to laugh on later.

    I completely understand the frustrations with the rain. I am from Michigan and every single time I went camping it rained! So frustrating but when it didn’t it was awesome! I could not do the tent camping full time. It’s hard enough on the weekends. When you get your RV you’ll love it even more; no more hanging out in the truck! You found a totally awesome spot!

    Had the same problem of finding service while trying to settle in to a campsite for a longer period. It was so stressful. We ended up only finding really exposed areas and the sun was just brutal. We finally headed back home in Texas and cut short our property search. Every time we found a little plot of land we liked it sold before we could secure it. What a stressful time. I’m glad y’all found a place to make camp and got a great fresh start. I hope the RV comes sooner than expected for y’all.

    Tent living is tough when it’s prolonged like this. When you go into a city, look up an aquatic center or community fitness center to get out of the weather, get a nice workout, and a very hot shower!!
    I do suggest a small and cheap pannini/George Foreman grill that your inverter can handle. You can crank on the engine and get at least a hot sandwich in these colder rainy days. One hot meal can make your day!! Keep your spirits up and think about how much more you will appreciate your trailer, it’s going to be DELUXE!!!

    You don't need to be so worried about bears. Get your self a can of bear spray and a couple of bear bells they are small and don't weigh much. And you just put them on your pack or even your shoes and that sound is enough to scare the bears away from you. And maybe get yourself one of those small compressed air horns to keep around camp just in case a bear comes around.

  • @katiemae0015
    @katiemae0015 2 роки тому

    My understanding of bear philosophy. I could be wrong, here is what I understand. Bears should be scared of people. So. You play some music, howel at the moon occasionally, bang some pots and pans so all the wildlife around you knows you are there. Don't leave out any food or dishes and hang your garbage from a tree. If a bear loses their fear of people, they will be euthinized, so you are doing them a favor by scaring them away and not providing them with any food.

    All of the warnings about bears are so people don’t create nuisance bears. Nuisance bears many times have to be destroyed before they get a chance to hurt someone.

      I pretty much only camp in bear country these days. Park Hosts in areas will tell you if there are nuisance bears, dumpster bears, etc. it’s always good to know so if you run across a host or ranger, ask and see what the local bear situation is like.

    Hey guys, with those two large bikes, do you use the XL or XXL ProBikeTool cover? thanks.

      Hey 👋
      We use the XL two bike cover "travel style". It's a tight fit, but works great. It seems to go in and out of stock quite a bit!

    So I take it there wasn't much hiking because of bears lol? If you watch Foresty Forest videos he goes backwoods in Canada and parks where they have signs warning of Grizzly's. But I don't blame you I'd be scared too.

    20/20 hindsight still makes me think that you should have just rented a pop-up trailer until the RV trailer arrived.

      Yeah..maybe! In a different market we would have probably bought something cheap and re sold at the end of the summer! But....soon enough we'll be in the new rig!

    Yeah, camping in the rain is no fun. We really do not like setting up or tearing down in the rain. Steamy in the truck.....Christine wondered if you were watching Titanic. Haven’t seen any bears.....oh they are out there. Just practice good food safety/storage and get some bear spray.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  2 роки тому

      Yup, that about sums it up! Titanic...hmm maybe we should watch that tonight! 😊 We always have the bear spray handy for sure and we sleep with it!

    It's almost better for peace of mind once you finally run into a bear. The mystery is more stressful than the reality. I used to have mountain lion anxiety until ran into one while hiking. It wanted nothing to do with me. Then I read that there's only been like 120 attacks in the past 100 years, mostly on unsupervised children.

    It is hard to find boondocking here in TX so I usually go to Corps Of Engineers campground.
    I am a disabled senior that travels for suicide awareness since losing my son Jeff in 2016, in my wheelchair modified 2010 dodge grand caravan with my four Chihuahuas. I have a wire cubby in the Hatch area for storage. I also have a platform bed with some storage space underneath. I have kept the smaller section of the backseat as well as the two front seats for when my grandchildren travel with me. The rest of the floor space is taken up by my power chair. I am by no means a minimalist and definitely travel with too much stuff. And I still have more stuff for camping and emergency gear at home outside Palestine TX, for the day I can score a larger rig. Unfortunately, due to the wheelchair modification, I cannot have a rear hitch for a tiny trailer or even a storage box on the back, and being in a wheelchair it is hard to access anything on the roof. But I do have 2 solar panels and a roof box up top for when other people travel with me. As well as a Bluetti EB70 n EB3a solar generators. My dream vehicle is a short wheelchair Bus conversion with plenty of storage space! Safe Travels & Enjoy YOUR Journey
