Why you made restoration of the restoration? This movie was scanned in 8k and finally came out in 4k. But your “restoration” has most of the sharpness and almost no noise, regards :)
I didn't restore a restoration! Panavision films of the time had very good image resolution. But the quality of the film reels and the camera lenses brought a little grain to the films, which was their charm. The first digitizations of these films on DVD, either 720X480 or 540 or 576, depending on the standards of each country, greatly degraded detail, hence the interest in full HD and then 4k and 8k, but studios are often content with this. On this one, I worked on 1080p, on which I improved detail and gradually increased the scale to 4K.

There's a lot of video restoration software available today! But unfortunately, not a single one can achieve this result. The most difficult thing is to obtain something natural... It's really complicated to detail my method. Step 1: I usually import the sequence into Adobe Premiere. If it's in black and white, I correct exposure, contrast, light and dark tones, whites and blacks; if it's already in color, I skip this step. step 2: I export to a folder, in PNG image sequences often between 3,000 and 5,000 images for 2 to 3 minutes of video. step 3: I run a frame-by-frame colorization! step 4: color correction to eliminate as many errors as possible! step 5: I do a first pixel enhancement in 2K “frame by frame”. step 6: I use one or two different Face recoveries (because some provide a lot of recovery but not total fidelity of the face, and others are more faithful but the recovery is lighter) which I will mix with the final cut, with two video tracks superimposed and opacities between the two to achieve quality while keeping the faces as real as possible... step 7: I finish with a penultimate pixel treatment in 4K by compiling the image in mp4 . step 8: at this point, I can either interpolate to 60fps, or two if I have both face recovery, to increase the video's fluidity, or put it directly on the Timeline to resynchronize it with the soundtrack .... In short, all this represents between 5 and 8 different software programs and treatments... 😅😅😅
