I am from South Africa and am new to online teaching. I have just enrolled for the TEFL Certificate and cannot wait to get started. I will do well in Freelance Online Teaching with my skills in Digital Marketing which will help me on my journey to becoming a great teacher. Thank you, Jamie, for sharing your experience and journey with us, which makes me more confident in the next chapter of my life. 👋
Watching from Mumbai, India I have nearly 33yrs of teaching experience in school physically present and junior college but no online teaching experiences
I am in Hampton VA- I am on family leave to help care for my grand daughter. I am a certified teacher in three areas. I have 5 years certified in the classroom. I have 2 years pre certified in classroom as well. I have 10+ years private teaching experience. I am a reading / dyslexia teacher, SPED teacher ec-12, Art ec-12 and gen ed ec-6.
Since you already have experience, I recommend starting with markeplaces. You can also do companies if you want to start teaching and earning right away since marketplaces can take time to build and get your first students.
When online teaching, you need to follow copyright since you are a for-profit business. You need permission from the publisher to use the book in your classes or you’ll need to require your students to have their own copy of the book. Since this can get complicated, it may be easier to purchase a commercial license for an ESL curriculum through websites like ESL Brains, Off2Class, etc.
@ESLTeacher365 Thank you for your response. I am new here and new to the teaching field as well but I have gotten the TESOL Certificate and I have a degree in English. I look forward to seeing more of your content and benefitting from it. Thank you 😘
I’m from Virginia I’m a pre school teacher I’m working on my tefl certification. I’m interested in Esl and online teaching. I like watching your videos . I’m thinking about applying to Cambly first to get some experience

Now the comments are showing-thanks! A question for you: I'm a busy university prof in Taiwan & a busy online teacher. I plan to retire in July 2026, so I want to add just 1 new online student per month for now as I want to build my business, but not be stressed! Any thoughts or suggestions?
@ I’m asking for referrals and guesstimating that frequent requests for referrals will yield a Goldilocks-style supply of new students-just right! Only one 1️⃣ per month
I'm currently snowbound in Missoula, Montana, sitting by the fire and surfing the web. My first job after college was teaching 11th and 12th grade English. It wasn't exactly ESL, but my students were attending technical school and came back to the main campus for English, Math and Phys. Ed. classes. While teaching was satisfying, the salary was not so I moved on and applied my skills to marketing, sales and public relations. Are there ESL clients who would be interested in learning the language of business?
@ You are welcome, a degree and certification is always a plus, and just try to stay consistent, because it can be easy to give up especially in the marketplace, but even with companies sometimes.
@@ESLTeacher365Thanks for your response, So how can I get students and how can I build my English teaching business, do you have any suggestions for me ?

You have done a fantastic job. Thanks for sharing so much valuable information.

I am not sure what option to do... I have questions about each. Probably "Market Place " to start out- and graduate to fee lance

May I ask when is your next live meeting? thanks.
I am going live to talk about teaching abroad today at 5pm US Eastern Time.
From Pakistan, an in-person teacher for 3 years.
I want to explore online teaching and expand.
If I have a physical book which I want to share with an online student, how can I do that so we’re both looking at the same text or pictures?

Yes, Cambly is a good option. If you want to teach preschool online, you can also try Outschool.

Yes, Business English is a fantastic niche. You can teach it on marketplaces or as a freelancer.

Yes, in fact I recommend it since you most likely won’t have a full schedule with just one company.
