I was lucky enough to pick a copy of Shantae in a garage sale for $10 several years with the booklet (no case though). Finding that was a freak accident. Later on I actually had my copy signed by Cristina Vee (Shantae's voice actor since Pirates Curse). I will never get that lucky again.
did you get your copy from silver fox studios mom? (he said his mom sold his shantae game)
Lucky You!
Releasing Shantae on the GameBoy Colour back in 2001 is like releasing an Original DS game in 2016.
I think Disney released a Big Hero 6 DS game in 2015. Pretty close.
Jeez...
+Human Thoughts yeah in 2014 the released a fucking DS version of big hero 6 but I think in 2015 (after the movie came out....) they decided to release it for the 3DS
The 3DS was more popular than the DS in 2014 so why didn't they release it for the 3DS first?
+Technology Spotlight no idea! It doesn't make any sense!!!
wtf my mom sold my shantae game in a yard sale 3 years ago..WTF MOM
Guess whoever bought it is really happy now
+Justin Noker she legit sold it for 5$
SilverFoxStudios yep, very happy lol
+Justin Noker fuck off -,-
+SilverFoxStudios extremely happy
Trip world..really.That is literally Kirby.
"Charizard holds a "Not a Dragon" sign". LOL.
So everything we need is a time machine and buy those games in the past and the get back to the present?
Fernando Almonte lol yeah but than they wouldn't be worth as much anymore 😛😛😂😂
A time machine would be a lot more expensive than all these games combined
Fernando Almonte count me in I'd actually like to be blue instead of pink
I just Shantae for free. what's really unique about the game is that if you push Select During Gameplay. She starts Dancing. you can then Push Buttons in Sync to have her do different Moves... That's so COOL!!!
I actually have megaman 5 and I didn't even know it was a rare game. Though it's not CIB but it's nice to know I own a rare game.
Shantae has "GBA enhancements", including an extra unlockable transformation when the game is played on a GBA rather than on GBC. The 3DS Virtual Console version plays in GBC mode, so this means that you can never unlock the Tinkerbat transformation on that version. Fun fact.
Shantae does have a "debug mode" code that's unlocked with a specific combination of button presses.
Your videos always pull me into binge-watching vortexes. Thank you.
I actually have a copy of Shantae. I found it for six dollars several years ago. I bought it on a whim and a faint memory of positive reviews. I had no idea how rare it was. And it's sequel was literally the only reason I bought a DSi.
Great video, really looking forward to the next one!
Thanks a ton! :)
I would say Beethoven's 2nd is one of the rarest Game Boy game, I've been collecting 2 years and have never seen it for sale CIB or loose. I would love to have it in my collection, even though it is really bad. The rarest eprom's i can think of are Edd the Duck or Syd the Elephant worth mega money! Wayne's world CIB doesn't come along to often either!
Cool vid by the way, got most of them mentioned. My pride and joy of my collection is my Mint CIB Kid Dracula. I also have mint Amazing Tater, Mega Man series, Castlevania series (all carts) + 528 others!
Wohoo more Nintendo goodness! And I've actually been curious to some pal stuff. Congrats on 50K! 25 isn't even that long ago, this channel is going the right direction :)
Yeah Nintendo will never leave RandomTens, it's still my favourite gaming company by miles. And at some point I'd love to do a video on rare PAL games I haven't covered as I think they actually have more gems than we do in NA. At least when compared to Canada, which is where I'm actually from haha!
Also thank you so much for your support in helping us reach the crazy milestone. There's a select few people I can count on in the comments section of every video, and you're definitely one of them. So from myself (Stan) and the other guys behind the channel thank you so much for everything!!!
RandomTens you're welcome, you really deserve it :) if the channel grows with this speed we can still see that 100K award this year or really next year ;)
+Wouter Céphas Haha I'd love to hit that milestone, but if there's anything I've learned from UA-cam, it's that a lot of the time you really can't predict what'll end up happening.
So because I'm a weird, overly-cautious person, I've sort of convinced myself that I'm still years away from entertaining the thought of 100K subs. As silly as it seems, it helps me to stop thinking about numbers and just try to make fun content that I enjoy making I guess. :P
RandomTens very good to stay realistic, some day you'll get there though ;)
I just discovered your channel, I love your content. You seriously deserve more attention
>When he said PAL gets games later
>Yoshi's Woolly World ahahaha
Earthbound
Terranigma
professor layton vs phoenix wright m8, we got that like 8 months earlier which was amazing
Or any Fifa game.
I've supported Shantae since day one! Played it for awhile, then threw it in a drawer for YEARS! It wasn't until my brother brought to my attention how much it's worth. Mines opened with it's original shrink wrap.
lucky damn. your looking at hundreds.
I found a copy of Spanky's Quest/Adventure in a park on top of a baseball cage. I threw some stuff up at it and took it home with me once I got it down. Lol that was about 7 years ago now.
MrRioluRileyRykins do u still have it?
i got spankys quest too for free from my aunt! rare and cool game
So glad you mentioned trip world! A lot of people forget about it
I love your intros dude
haha Shawn-tay, it's Shan-tey, but damn dude these videos are gooood, I'm on a binge right now.
hi stan,at the end of your videos can you do a list of a lot of other rare consoles or games, yeah some of them are rare enough to showcase them in the video but people will still be able to see stuff that they will most likely own as a comparison.
04:33 That's not always the case lol, it's now pretty rare. We get 95% of all games at the same time.
...and if there *is* a delay, I would assume it's because of the efforts needed to ensure translation into multiple languages.
Great Job!
Another awesome video!! ^_^
Thanks dude!!! :)
Europe gets games much later than NA and JP because of language localization and PEGI. Translating to 5+ languages takes much longer than just English and/or Spanish (and maybe French)
Nice video! But, since it is a digital game, does Flipnote Studio 3D count?
Another great one!
Thanks Devin!
I don't have Slaking yet, but you'll be happy to know that Vigoroth is seriously helping me on my quest through Hoenn right now! :P
RandomTens AWESOME!! Really cool to hear.
What did you end up naming it?
+Devin Long you'll have to wait and see ;)
RandomTens cannot wait!!
+RandomTens,
You Also Do Mega Man (The Game Boy Mega Man Isn't That Rare tho), OH SNAP I LIKE YOU NOW
I first saw the game in a magazine while I was at work (inventorying a grocery store). I saw the words, "Genie - Games for Girls" and saw a cute illustration of Shantae. Maybe someone out there has the article, I'd love to get a copy of it :) At the time, the game was already out of production, but I went home, looked it up on the web, though hmm looks like a good game. Ordered a copy off ebay for $14, still have it. Well, I played it, had a LOT of fun! In fact, I e-mailed Wayforward and told them, "Haven't had this much fun with a game in ages. I actually enjoyed it more than Final Fantasy X, yeah, that good! I see success for you guys in the future!" They replied, they were ecstatic and told me they would consider a sequel. They asked if someone like me (a customer?) would enjoy a mobile phone game (probably java). I said, "Absolutely!".
Well, some years later, they e-mailed me some footage of a demo. It wasn't a phone game, but a full on sequel for the GBA. I thought it was funny that they used music from Godzilla Domination xD, but that was just cool. When they cancelled it, none of us knew they were actually preparing to recycle it into the DSi title Risky's Revenge. That's when things took off for Wayforward. Glad to see it got its well deserved attention now.
Do the rarest Game and Watch games ever released! That would be cool.
THE RAREST!!! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL DUDE !! YOU ARE REALLY HANDSOME AS WELL
If you do a part 2, definitely include Ninja Taro, Daikatana, and Space Station: Silicon Valley for the game boy color. All great games, all very difficult to find.
Before Risky's Revenge came to DSi in 2009, I looked into the series and bought a loose cart on ebay for $75. Then Risky's Revenge came out, became a sleeper hit, then a big hit, then the puzzle games like the mighty series brought new audiences to wayforward and... last I checked, a loose cart was going for about $300. And that's *after* the game got released on 3DS virtual console for five bucks. The history of the series is amazing.
Nice! I have the rarest Gameboy game! I bought Shantae the day it launched (had it preordered actually). And still have it mint with the box and all inserts.
Nice video. I wonder why many people tend to write Game Boy without the space (like Gameboy), as in this video title and description. It clearly has a space on all the logos and boxes. Game and Boy are seperate words and the system was never marketed without a space.
Shantae is such an amazing game. Looks like a GBA game in terms of graphics.
Neosaurus, you just discovered one of the best examples of the Mandela Effect!
I saw Mega Man 5 at a game store yesterday for $75 loose...
Gameboy or NES??? I refer the Gameboy version as Mega Man V. Loose price is over $100 for buy it now on ebay and amazon. The loose price average 60-80 on auction.
barcelona909 G A M E B O Y.
No, I didn't, because I couldn't afford it.
Yessssss I've been waiting for this (Haven't even watched it yet, I just clicked on this a second ago)
Dragon Quest Monsters. Just DQM... It probably didn't sell well because it was a Pokémon clone, but Dragon Quest is my favorite game series nonetheless.
50k subs hype! I don't have a Gameboy but I have Super Mario Land on my 3DS and I liked it. :D
Thanks for all of the love over these last few months Andrew!
And it's all good because Super Mario 3D Land is the bomb.com! :)
Well I don't mind supporting someone awesome and who works a lot. :)
If have to say... Pokemon Gold/Silver Beta (or was it Alpha version?) is almost impossible to get.
What flips my shit is I had no idea there was a huge demand for old GameBoy games
Holy wow! I recently bought a little bag of Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games at my local secondhand / thrift store yesterday, and Megaman V was in that bag. I had no idea it was that valuable! Coolio :D
I always wanted to give the Shantae series a shot...
I also wanted to give the Metroid Series a go...
And I also always wanted to give the Bayonetta Series a shot...
That means I need a wallet with monies in it though.
Yeah it definitely comes down to the money's sometimes.
You have to promise me though that one day you will attempt to play Super Metroid because that game is just incredible!!!
Oh wow, I had no idea that "Amazing Tater" was called so; I have a GBA cartridge from my childhood with the Japanese version of the game on it. The cartridge is weird, it also has some tank game and weirdly Othello.
Imagine paying $700 for a CIB Shante these days.
That’s less than what it goes for loose now.
My favorite genre is the action platformer. with the two series at the top being Megaman and Shantae
oooooh shit I have shantae in box lmfao
I actually have Shantae complete in box and in good condition ..and the battery save still works! I wonder what it's worth now?
About Trip World : Name of the bunny is Yakopoo he appeared later in Sunsoft's fighting game, Galaxy Fight: Universal Warriors as a mini-boss and with a more detailed look and blood on his face after you beat the shit out of him. Galaxy Fight is one of the most underrated 2D Fighting Games and is avalaible for : Neo Geo, Sony Playstation 1 and Sega Saturn.
"Chikyuu Kaihou Gun ZAS" is a Japan exclusive Gameboy Title that is really rare too.
We get games later because PAL games are coded differently to other regions, but with the Nintendo Switch not being region locked, hopefully this is less of an issue.
OMG. The background music is Super Mario Land.
Shantae is one of those game series that I love and play a lot, but I never beat them.
I got amazing tater at a garage sale for 2 bucks just this last Saturday along with snow brothers jr!!!!
Woah! Trip World looks so cute! If I can find a good deal, I can be so special having i-- Wait... It's said to be on 3DS eShop... and the cartridge I found was only 9 dollars...? Guess it's not so rare anymore, huh? :(
I love Shantae, she's got really fun games. I'm so glad Shantae is available on the 3DS eshop.
I've seen a sealed Kid Dracula net $5000 dollars, and a Trip World CIB was sold here in sweden for over that price...
You should do rarest Nintendo accessories
There are actually many other rare GB games like Chikyuu Kaihou Gun ZAS, Great Greed, Hammerin' Harry, Monster Max, Crystal Quest, Final Fantasy 3 etc... Just check the prizes on Ebay.
i still have spuds adventure, i dont think its seen the light of day in about 20+ years, still safe in its official gameboy plastic dust case
I have trip world CIB Sealed, i have a separate cart to play cus i dont want to open trip world Sealed, Its nice to have a rare GB game that i didn't realise it was rare in the first place!
Wow, I bought Castlevania Legends 10 years ago for 15 bucks. Ridiculous how prices have gone up. It's a good game, thought somewhat difficult, and I never got angry over it not following the timeline. I just consider it an alternate timeline kinda thing.
I think I might have seen Spud's Adventure at a Flea Market for dirt cheap 😮
I have Shantae! both the VC release and the actual cartrage!
Shantae used game boy advanced like pallets for some objects
Id correct you on the value on Shantae sold for $1,250 on Amazon
you missed star ocean
Blue Sphere? One suspects they're only familiar with the more widely-discussed rarities.
Other rare Game Boy games are Beam Software's local ports of Baby T-Rex; "Agro Soar" (Australia) and "Bamse" (Sweden).
What about Magical Chase? And collectors in Japan are watching, too, FYI. By the way, Japanese copies of Trip World are approaching $400 here. I hope my English is OK!
I used to own Trip World, but when I was young, I traded it for a Donkey Kong cartridge which I later traded for Leaf Green :/. I still regret that choice to this day.
Maybe you could do THE RAREST PS3 & Xbox 360 Games next?
You can get Shantea (Shantae?) on the 3ds VC for like $5
Despite making logical sense, digital-download releases - however cheap - do not drive down the prices of physical copies.
if you DL it you own a game.
if you have it physically, you own a piece of gaming history.
Hey Stan, listen man your an Awesome UA-camr and I think you should get more Love, I know someone who's a pretty big on Twitch, hes a Pokemon Streamer and I think I get him to give you a shout out next time he Streams, your a very talented UA-camr and you deserve a lot of subs, so your welcome man!
Wow thank you so much for the kind words and even thinking about doing something like that. I seriously appreciate you even thinking about me and this channel in that sort of way.
But if you or your friend don't feel like going through with that that's very cool too. I'm just honestly happy you enjoy this video and some of our other stuff enough to want to share it with friends (whether they have a platform or just a buddy who likes Nintendo stuff)! :)
Anytime!
Trip World Is Like Seriously One Of My Favorite Games On The GameBoy.
i saw a unsealed copy of pokemon crystal version, grade 90 selling for 1000 bucks here in tampa.
where is the series man? we miss it :)
I'm European (from Spain) and the last year I bought the game Trip World on the Nintendo eShop (in my 3DS) for only 6€ (6'61$ approximately) It's not a physical copy but it's something xD By the way, great vídeo!
I bought mega man 4 for like 10 bucks at a garage sale when I was younger, so glad I found this video
Shantae smash DLC will be released when the NX comes out and ten years from now digital codes will be sold on eBay for 7000 dollars
Lol
10 years those things will be fucking worthless
+Avery Jenson sad that in 10 years there will still be people who don't get jokes
OddSauce No, I got the joke, I'm just saying those things are going to be garbage lol
You know I'll be honest, I never really got behind the whole "Shantae for smash" movement. In fact I was really hoping that both her and shovel knight wouldn't get into the game (internet blasphemy I know).
But when I make these videos I try to do SOME research and so I got a lot more familiar with the Shantae series as a whole. And honestly I immediately fell for the music.
Once Pokemonth is done after July I think I'm going to take a little break and play Pirate's curse haha
Hi! I was so lucky the other day! I was searching for pokemon at a local game store and i found Trip World and also bought it it was cheap like 1000huf or 5$ or something but its pretty cool game! (Also i found the european version cause i live in Hungary)
damn me and my friend use to play mega man 5 on gameboy all the time when we were kids. maybe he still have the game
I like watching this series to download those games and play them on an emulator and be happy ^^
If I ever find Shantae in Goodwill or the Salvation Army then I would definitely get it and add it to my collection.
You'd be in for quite a shock. Goodwill actually prices gameBoy games to what the market shows. A goodwill I went to had Pokémon red and blue and were selling them for $50 each. Because that's what you get for them on eBay now. And a copy of Crystal that actually saves?
fatefinger Is this with them in the box with the manual or the cartridge itself?
+POKEGAMERZ 9185 no. Just the cartridge. But that was when the game itself was going for $100 easily on eBay. Now just the cartridge can go for up to $300. And it's only getting more expensive as time goes on.
Here's Red and Yellow for under $50. www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Pokemon-Red--Yellow-Edition-GameBoy-Color-Games-33914469.html
I have Blue and Yellow but i've had them for many years and they still save.
you forgot about the virtual console version of shante's revenge for the Nintendo 3ds. that version is retailing for about $5.00.
Shantae's Revenge? What's that? Also just because you can get a digital version does not lessen the value of the physical cart.
F1 Pole Position on the Gameboy is one of the three rarest. Rarer than Amazing Tater or Spud's Adventure.
You forgot Keitai Denjuu Telefang
Too obscure.
Note that all these games came out in the West.
Not too expensive, either. A quick trip to eBay showed me that loose carts go for around £10.
Boxed for £20-£30, excepting to £92-ish listings.
*two £94-ish eBay listings.
I got Shatea for like 3-4 bucks, but then again is was a for fans reproduction cart.
castlevania legends has amazing music
I own a copy of Spuds Adventure. Its fun to play!
Rare PS1 games next!
i recently got a gameboy and was looking through my games tofind a loose verson of megaman 4
Wasn't there a silent hill game on the GB or the GB Advanced? Ya I can't find it anywhere.
Yeah. I've got it on the GBA. It's not very good but cost a lot.
***** Thought it was all in my head. I used to own one and got rid of it. Turns out it would sell for an ass load today.
I recently bought a copy of castlevania legends CIB for $20, wow I scored a crazy deal
you look like Shawn Ashmore. That guy who plays Iceman in the X men films.
Wow! I still have my copy of Mega Man IV CIB, bought in 1993...holy shit I am old and btw RT, I had no idea that it was worth that much.
I've actually seen a Shantae in person before for about 200.
And I remember getting that Castlevania for only about $30....
Holy shit, I owned that Shantae game. My dad bought it for me before a trip to FL one year when I was super young. The game sucked ABSOLUTE ASS.... Wish I still had it today. Think I traded it in at a gamestop for "store credit"
you forgot hammering harry for gameboy
and what is with the Pokémon green beta? Its only released in japan
