Many are broken down. They don't train nor maintain their equipment nearly enough for the hardware they have. Nor do they have logistical capabilities on par with their ambitions. A few days ago I answered a poll asking us how long do we think Ukraine will be able to resist the invasion. I answered "1 week" and now I feel super awful about it for having this "temporally lost of faith"... Now, obviously, I know the Ukrainians can't lose this war. I'm sorry but I had to tell somebody about it! lol
This is the first war that I know of, where public opinion feels bad for the soldiers on both sides, and sympathizes with the men being sent to die for nothing other than poor leadership. Rip to the Russian and Ukrainian men that have fought bravely and died. Hopefully this needless conflict ends soon and saves Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian troops, and Russian troops who don’t want to be there as well.

People should not believe that all russian soldiers are innocent scared kids. That's a caricature. While there are many conscripts in the russian invasion force, a lot of them not very motivated, there are also real soldiers with war experience who obey order without a second thought and are ready to kill Ukrainians. Likewise, some conscripts are so brainwashed they think they are fighting nazis despite the evidence and are thus dangerous. Obviously it's in the interest of a captured soldier to say that he did not want to fight. It is likely that some are lying. Don't be too naive.

Half of the Ukrainian army is Russian speaking and the units that fought the fiercest against Russian hybrid war fighters in the Donbass war were actually recruited from the Russian speaking parts of the country. Never mind that hundreds of thousands of civilians that had fled from Donbass to the government controlled cities like Kharkiv or Kyiv now have to flee from the war one again.

I am completely on Ukraine’s side, but do feel bad for most of the Russian soldiers. I imagine many joined the military as just a job or to defend their country, and if you are a decent person, it would be awful to be in a war realizing “Wait, we’re the bad guys here.” - like being a decent human in Nazi Germany and having to choose between being called unpatriotic/huge repercussions, and doing the right thing.

Дядька с обложки служил в 2013 году в 242 УЦ ВДВ, где в 2015м обвалилась казарма из-за того что разворовали деньги на капитальный ремонт. Этот капитан сопровождал меня с другими новобранцами в учебку, где с нас каждый месяц собирали ползарплаты на обустройство палаточного лагеря, который сгорел за месяц до нашего прибытия. Жаль что защитник родины был использован Питерской ОПГ, для отжатия бизнесов в Украине...

The US may have reacted in a similar way if for say Mexico was looking to join the Soviet Union during the Cold War, they wouldn't want any nukes put right on their border.

I am glad that Ukraine was able to successfully execute a major offensive recapture of a city, over the previous days I was only hearing about them being good at defending but I was afraid that they couldn’t do offensive pushes yet I was wrong.

One thing is certain, no matter what happens, the Ukrainian resistance will never disappear. Capturing cities is one thing, retaining them is an entirely different thing. Capturing an entire country with a 'never say die' attitude will be very difficult unless you flatten entire cities with bombs.

This is the first war that I know of, where public opinion feels bad for the soldiers on both sides, and sympathizes with the men being sent to die for nothing other than poor leadership. Rip to the Russian and Ukrainian men that have fought bravely and died. Hopefully this needless conflict ends soon and saves Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian troops, and Russian troops who don’t want to be there as well.

People should not believe that all russian soldiers are innocent scared kids. That's a caricature. While there are many conscripts in the russian invasion force, a lot of them not very motivated, there are also real soldiers with war experience who obey order without a second thought and are ready to kill Ukrainians. Likewise, some conscripts are so brainwashed they think they are fighting nazis despite the evidence and are thus dangerous.
Obviously it's in the interest of a captured soldier to say that he did not want to fight. It is likely that some are lying. Don't be too naive.

Half of the Ukrainian army is Russian speaking and the units that fought the fiercest against Russian hybrid war fighters in the Donbass war were actually recruited from the Russian speaking parts of the country. Never mind that hundreds of thousands of civilians that had fled from Donbass to the government controlled cities like Kharkiv or Kyiv now have to flee from the war one again.

I don't know how to express this aloud, it's probably a feeling only a parent could understand. The night my son was born, I swore to myself I would do whatever I had to do to die before him. My wife and I put everything we had into this kid, and I couldn't imagine losing him for something so senseless. These guys may be on the wrong side of history, but they have parents too. A lot of suffering and pain on both sides. None of this had to happen...

What really infuriates me, here in the United States, is that no matter how hard a parent works to ensure that their child has a great start, the open border to the south is allowing a flood of narcotics, that may ensnare anyone of our children, regardless of how hard we work to ensure their safety. I am completely on Ukraine’s side, but do feel bad for most of the Russian soldiers. I imagine many joined the military as just a job or to defend their country, and if you are a decent person, it would be awful to be in a war realizing “Wait, we’re the bad guys here.” - like being a decent human in Nazi Germany and having to choose between being called unpatriotic/huge repercussions, and doing the right thing.
Psychologically there is no comparison: one invades a brother country, against his own soul and belief, the other fights for survival and freedom of his family and country. One is a destructor, the other is a PROTECTOR, a hero and a liberator. Let there be Peace!! Please God, let there be PEACE!

Such a terrible thing to have to do, in order to reclaim their own city. @@joannebottcher9779 They think Ukraine wants to join NATO and NATO will put it's bases and missiles there ultimately so it's in their interests to remove the current government and military and set the Ukraine up a buffer zone between Russia to the West. It doesn't mean Putin is a particularly nice guy or anything but he's rationally minded and knows what he's about. The US may have reacted in a similar way if for say Mexico was looking to join the Soviet Union during the Cold War, they wouldn't want any nukes put right on their border.
While the Ukrainians are dying to protect their home, the Russians are dying for the sake of one man. Totally unnecessary. Life is already short.

I have 12 years in the military with 4 years of combat in Afghanistan and Iraq. I have been in their shoes and know the feeling of being in the moment in that situation. Please don't tell me about children being soldiers. I have seen soldiers of our own as young as 17 that is considered children to me, go home draped with the American Flag. So please don't add to my comment or misquote it. I give all respect but unless you were in this type of situation you would not understand.
Our children are for life. We all, Ukrainian and Russians, pray that they save their lives , act mercifully in all situations, stop fighting , unite and solve everything by means of peace. They will stop, come home, get married and have more Slavic children, boys and girls. The sooner is the better. Any Russian soldier who doesn't agree with it has their chance to abandon the army. "I was just following orders" didn't work during the Nuremberg Trials and it won't work here. One thing is certain, no matter what happens, the Ukrainian resistance will never disappear. Capturing cities is one thing, retaining them is an entirely different thing. Capturing an entire country with a 'never say die' attitude will be very difficult unless you flatten entire cities with bombs.
Even with the cities flattened there needs be to keep them. Rubble makes tough going for invaders. Cities can be rebuilt.
Russians are flattening areas with bombs so it still possible for the next wave to do just that.

These kids didn't have the luxury we Americans had in becoming consumed by wicked culture. They're being attacked while sitting idle with Molotov cocktails and burned alive. They're never given quarter and from the onset of all this... it was over a week before Ukraine announced they, *"won't allow a Russian to live and that all soldiers will be slaughtered like pigs."* That's what they said and all of this against the GENEVA CONVENTION, they're acts of barbarism.
