Hi there. About possible content - I know L-39 is a module and I haven't seen you around with it yet. Maybe having it dogfight the MB-339? Both are trainers, could maybe be interesting
What seperates this channel from other DCS content on youtube is your explanations of the reaction choices you make, general BFM AND BVR tactical discussions and your casual light-hearted reactions to getting shot in the face...
@@fishrrelaxing9361 What an absolute crock of 💩. The Meteor is a fox _three_ missile and contains it's own radar transceiver to track its target autonomously. Fighters launching any fox three missile at _long_ distances will keep lock on the target to assist the missile's homing, but once at - or launched at - a short distance, the missile will enter terminal phase - going 'pitbull' - at which point it is fully autonomous.
The analogy you made to infantry fighting is how I made sense of the differences between dogfighting and a BVR fight. In my mind, dogfighting is the aviation equivalent to hand-to-hand fighting, while a BVR fight is more like a sniper duel; shoot, move to cover/defend, recommit, and repeat.
what’s amazing and also funny is how much i’ve learned from watching GS. i’ve applied his dogfighting techniques to my gameplay (albeit in War Thunder) but it has* allowed me to become a more lethal pilot in game. thanks for all the tips and hard work you and your team put in to your craft. much love!
Been watching your channel for years (under a different account). I started my own channel and after a long day of working on it and getting burned out, I turn on your video's and it just motivates me to keep going. Fantastic video GS! You are the best in the business!
Great engagement as always GS! Can you also include footage from the missile POV in case of near misses on you, like the last one? Would be nice to see how close it came.
Yes, a short Tacview replay of the mission would be great to see at the end of BVR fight videos. GS used to show them, but lately they are gone, sadly.
Wicked engagement GS. Your commentary makes the video's so much more enjoyable. Also your knowledge on all these aircraft is remarkable. Thanks for another great video.
Giving away my age here, but this is so reminiscent of Jane's F-15. In fact that's the sim that turned me into an Eagle fanboy. Great video GS. Keep the Mud Hen video content coming.
"I would be buying time for other strike eagles" "We are in and out as fast as possible"... While actually hiding behind a mountain the whole time... :P Well fought, but in reality the hypersonic missiles would have prevented anything being able to advance into the open. Instead of being baited in, that one flanker would have hung back and prevented the whole strike. Great video as always, but also a clear demonstration of how much of a problem the limited range of the AMRAAM is when compared to peer weapons. You really had to work for that, including choosing the terrain.
I don't disagree with your assessment, if the flankers intention was airspace denial...(which it probably would be) he would just hang back and wait for someone to try something as you said.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Hey, I have an idea! A 3 hour video of airspace denial where nobody attempts to push and the Flanker just orbits! Well, I never said it was a good idea!
I really enjoyed this video. At the end it was almost a mutual kill but you were lucky. It was a good decision on your part to stay close to those hills. Keep 'em coming and thanks for sharing.
Keep these f15E videos coming! I love all this variety. Video idea: Dogfights thru the eras. Gen 1-5 fighters from the US fight their counterparts in the USSR/Russia.
I'd love to see some raptors being the target designators for a 15E missile truck. I think this is what we would see in high intensity air combat these days. I am sure the Raptor and Fat Amy would eat some too, but I suspect some strike eagles flying 20 or so miles back will have the buffet. I am 100% sure the Airforce is saying "where the hell is the AIM-260". I am not sure if America would undercut Raytheon to rock meteors off the strike eagle, but I could see it happen if we were pushed to it.
I think it's more likely (in the F-15e community) that the WSO believes the pilots to be the dead weight, after all the only reason for the F-15 in general is to cart that huge radar into the air.
Nice vid! I'd like to see what would happen if the Flanker got within R77/Amraam range and then fired the R37, seems like it would be incredibly difficult to defeat outside of notching it
My understanding of the "Strike Eagle" variation has always been more down the lines of 2 things: 1) Either extra missile load for basic "air suppression" more than "superiority". (meaning keeping them BACK more than killing) 2) OR more room for ATG (air to ground) payloads for either "corridor clearing" (knocking out SAM sites from distance) or basic "bomb runs". It isn't quite as good as the A-10 for "CAS" (close air support) because the A-10's weapon load out and speeds help to stay on station for longer and more "platform stability" during attacks.
I watch you religiously before work eating breakfast and after work eating dinner. idk what id do without your content lol.. keep up all the amazing videos
I know stand-off is important, but it still frustrates me how no one seems to hold on to the R-37M's for a bit and just tries to get the enemy into their MAR (which I imagine would be much larger than say, an AAMRAM), and give them a very nasty surprise when they try to defend an assumed R-77.
GS, man....I'ma shoot ya straight. I hit the thumbs up button before the intro finished. I think it tapped while the Tomcat sweat was still on my screen. It's just good stuff...
Hey GS love the content as usual my dude. Is there any way you could do a vid with you flying a meteor equipped NATO fighter (Eurofighter, Rafale, or F35) defending a bridge or similar high value target vs a strike package of 1 Su34 being escorted by two hypersonic equipped Mig31s? Both sides with AWACS. I love it when you’re forced to be strategic and especially when hypersonic missiles are involved plus we haven’t seen you face off against the Mig31 in awhile.
For all the times I see and hear GS get smoked in the face and KIA. It's actually refreshing to see it happen to the other pilots for once. Great BVR! Nice and spicy.
I love the daily effort 👏 and I love the F-15 with all my heart. Good to showcase its abilities, even with the truckload variant. I'd rather have seen the F-15C against the flanker instead but this is still a favorable outcome lol
Wasn't there an idea a few years ago to use the f-15 paired with f-22s or possibly f-35's. The f-15 would carry a massive amount of air to air weapons and then the other f-22 or f-35 would do the targeting and basically set up the shots? Am I crazy or was that an idea? Google doesn't seem to have an answer
I thought the whole reason for the F-22 was it's advanced data link and off-board targeting to keep it stealthy while delivering ordinance. Teaming it up with slower non-stealthy assets seems to be a step backward. What do you think?
@swimbo8 That idea was just talked about in media afaik, but definitely could be an effective strategy. There is a Lockheed Martin F-35 video that does a demonstration of the F-35 in that role. @winkle69 For one, full stealth fleet operation is extremely costly and finding effective uses for non-stealth aircraft is essential. Secondly, that's actually a major advantage of a non-stealth asset. Enemies' radar will be able to easily the detect an F-15 at distance, so why would we care if their RWR also detects the F-15. The F-22/F-35 receive the targeting information from the F-15 to engage in a close manner, while F-15 can sit back and launch long range ordinance. There's several potential use case scenarios for combinatorial uses such as a ground strike mission. A set of F-15s could appear unescorted and provide targeting while stealth hides the escorts.
Hey GS I would be most appreciative if you could share your sound settings for your DCS setup as inevitably the A/B roar in my cockpit is louder than my RWR warning sounds in my settings, I've played around with the various sound settings in DCS but never seem to be able to emulate the clear RWR audible warnings you receive in your videos ... and I get my arse shot off cos I didn't hear the tracking/lock/broken lock clearly enough .
