And/or why missiles meant for dogfighting (such as AIM-9) are launched from rails and not ejectors. Hence why F-35 can't carry them internally and why F-22 has special rail launchers for them (among at least one other possible reason in the Raptor's case).
@@productNine True. However, even launching from rails under high enough G forces (positive or negative) can cause problems. So even a rail-launched missile can malfunction if it's being lunched during a hard bank that puts high +/- G forces on it. But I'm not a fighter pilot, just an aerospace engineer, so a pilot or aircraft mechanic might know much more.
I can't remember the channel but I saw a retired F-15 pilot react to a GS video. One thing he pointed out was that GS likes to roll, invert, and manoeuver during launches. He said that's not really how he would do things unless he was really under duress, basically even though missiles are SUPPOSED to work under various flight regimes, the best practice is to launch in the most stable configuration to avoid incidents. Yep. The reason for the EX is like he said as a truck, but with F-35s out front doing the targeting and guidance via data link (apparently DCS doesn't let the AIM-120 use data link). It's going to be even more effective once the EX starts carrying the AIM-260.

I have a feeling it will not go well for the F16 since it can only carry a measly 6 missiles in comparison to the F-15 EX. The F-16 can't keep the F-15 defensive for long enough and once those missiles run out, the F-15 can just push for the kill without any worry about retaliation until eventually the F-16 gets smacked in the face by an AMRAAM well within the MAR.
