Always breaks my heart that world has given Emil nothing but tragedy and grief yet the guy still keeps making the best out of it and fighting for the world anyways. Dude's a legend.

This is power. The emotion of the memories this brings back is almost destructive to me. Add to this the music... It amplify by a thousand time said emotion and that creates a hole inside me that just does not want to heal. x,.x

Istg i can definitely say that only NieR players could really sympathize on this very scene...
I've never played Nier, so I only have a vague understanding of what this place is and what it means. But that doesn't really matter all that much. It clearly means a lot to Emil, and even if don't know the full story, helping him was enough.
(the side quest during route c that brings you back here is what really broke me)
Created to be a weapon, and life with eternal pain (note emils age:the probability of emils' age is twelve thousand years more)
@Jeff Alves but you must know about Nier:Gestal or Replicant years bro, emil like not born in 21 century, but like ini 5-20 because all of human need a weapon for war and magic has rarely been encountered in world wars 1 and 2 did not exist at all, so we can be sure he was prepared for world war 1 or 2

yep, but they managed to found the younger Nier in the Tree of Memoreis (?) and they were together again, but they died later on due to old age. The several hundred years later the Aliens came to earth

i kinda hoped yokotaro would have been kind enough to input the use of the lunar tears. as a long nier fan myself, of course we've managed to have a close connection with the lunar tears as a memory of kaine (obviously) but they could have used them on ending e or something. save 9s from all the trauma he didnt have to go through

This game is a Masterpiece
The fact that he feels a stronger connection with Kainé, a supporting character, is just so incredibly satisfying to me. Like, everyone doesn't have to be best friends with the main protag, and that's okay. Maybe even better. Dunbar's limit, after all.
Emil likes protag but I think he connects with Kaine more on the emotional level.

I blame the cover art for me missing it the first time. Something about the font they used and the old dude on the cover was unappealing. I hate it when games are localized differently just so they can make it “more appealing” to western audiences. That is essentially all Gestahlt was. Nier USA.

@@deusprogrammer_thekingofspace Saaame, I love covers that have that concept art look to them like the one for Automata with 2B holding 9S and the Nier remake with the crew sitting with each other. It's so much more appealing and evokes more emotion than I've seen with "gameplay graphics" covers

Emil is that one character that reminds me that death is a gift and immortality, a curse.
After knowing hat happen in replicant, this is sad… Seeing Kaine shack and Emil’s mentioning his journey with Nier and Kaine being his most precious memories and now Emil is left alone as his friends are now long gone… My tear is dampening my keyboard. We can see how precious Kaine and Nier is to him when he stills vaguely remember them even though his memories are fragmented and few thousands of years has already passed. Ending Y again mention Emil’s memories of Kaine and Nier. Yoko Taro just want to make Emil suffer eternally, don’t he.

I had a weird vision of the studio contacting Emil’s voice actor to reprise her role, and her not remembering who tf Emil was (Since NieR is obscure age), so they dangled an adorable plush skelly boy over her head like you would a child.
