Awesome video. Love how you describe things in detail, you stick to the subject, all facts, no fluff, and as soon as a question pops in my head, you answer it on the video. Can't wait to see the assembly video. I have been waiting for the hif44 carb rebuild for some time. Thank you thank you. Enjoy your trip. I hear capetown is beautiful.
I'm looking to buy a '91 Cooper here in the UK so last of the carb models before they went injection in 92. Test driving it today - unrestored survivor.
Hi, thanks for putting up the videos, very helpful and much needed. I see you have some videos on a turbo Mini, which I'm just getting around too. I have a question to ask about the hiff44 carb. Looking at your video there look to be some differences between our setup. As a bit of background, I've been running my mini turbo for about 5-6 years with no problems but a few months back it started to play up, gradually getting worse and now it's stuck in my garage. I've taken carb off to check choke assembly and it doesn't seem right. It seems like it has missing or I'll replaced parts. Any ideas if the pic attached is showing correct components? And I'm the short video, the choke assembly has a considerable amount of play, is this normal? Thanks for any advise. James. Just realised I can't post image here.
Love your channel. The videos are awesome. I have a 1976 with a 1275. It stalls when I have to hit the brakes suddenly. Could you please suggest where I would start to look for an issue? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Cole on my HIF44 I can’t get the screw out that holds in the float. I don’t want to damage the screw head any more. Any ideas on how I can remove it. It’s really stuck in there. Thanks
I have a much older video on my channel about how to do it on the HS2 carbs I have on my car now. Search for Dash Pot Oil - Classic Mini DIY. However I will be talking about it when I install this carb as well in the next month or so.
As I mentioned I'll be in South Africa for the next 2ish weeks so it likely wont be until the beginning of April unless I get some time to hit the shop before then. :-)
Hi there. Always posting great video’s I send a email i have a couple questions for you. I have a problem with my carburetor. And i want ro see if you can guide In the right direction
I would say its a pretty involved process depending on your mini. You need a new inlet manifold, and in many cases the bulkhead has to be modified to fit the larger Weber carbs.
I finished editing this last night and of course forgot the time-lapse music again so, sorry in advance!
My 1293 with the HIF44 isn't starting due to fuel issues.. I think this video couldn't have come at a better time
Nice video ,the flapper is a butterfly 😁

Thanks Hos for the kind words. I’m glad they are helpful. I’m looking forward to getting home and getting it all assembled and in the car! 🙂

The 'flapper' is known as the 'butterfly', I believe... nice video Cole, reminded me of when I used to do them :)
The Throttle mechanism works as a Butterfly valve. The "flapper" itself is called the disc.
great series, subbed :)
I have a Spi Mini, but I still watched it lol
Very nice video

my hif44 with 1.3 F77 engine dieseling, could u advice?
I have a HIF38. Is it same ass the HIF44 for a rebuild?
For the most part yes they are the same construction. Enough that this guide should get you through an HIF38 rebuild.
I have one of these fully rebuilt with manifold for sale
Hey. If you are in South Africa can you do a meet up?
I’m only gonna be in Cape Town for a day or so. The rest of the time is for my best friends wedding. I probably won’t have time to do much mini stuff.
Is it hard to change from an SU to Weber?
I would say its a pretty involved process depending on your mini. You need a new inlet manifold, and in many cases the bulkhead has to be modified to fit the larger Weber carbs.
Classic Mini DIY thanks, doubt it’s worth it 😅
Can’t believe he just put carb in vise w/o, protection from scarring the surfaces…yikes
Don't clamp hard, doesnt do damage. It's simple.
