    Hey, Josh you can use bevel as bevel weight, and in edit mode in N page you can change bevelweight in items tab. here is the modifiers hierarchy, solidify> bevel(weight)> subd. This makes edges better in some situations.

    8:54 you can also press ctrl F and grid fill

    Why don't you use the usual bevel weight (without any creases)? or is there any advantage in your sequence?

    5:02 Be careful to not move the vertex of the octagon, or else the sub-d will not create a good circle out of the octagon. Know that sub-d creates a perfect circle from an octagon. A cylinder with more vertices is redundant

    Hello there! Am confuse sub-d, engons, quads etc............. What the hell is going on I have try to learn 3d Modeling for years but all of this bullshit had made my head spine counterclockwise and scene 2014 I have not be able to stay steady with a modeling program, First was 3DS Max, then Maya and now Blender and still can not model something on my own because of all of this shit engons, bad bevel etc... it is even worse than my Drill Sergent in the morning after eating a raw onion and talking to you right in front of your nose. Some one need to come out with a course that teach NOBS like me the right way to learn this shit. I have try to go to the Art Institute but I have not have enough money to pay for school, their should be something out there that can help Veterans like me that like to draw , 3d model etc.... but NOOOOO every body is thinking about on how to fill their pocket. You gays are good on your shit and I follow you but man expensive shit you got not saying not to make a buck or so but at least give some help to those that needs it. Their thousands of guys like you out there and I don't even know which one to follow, because when one said this good the other said that shit is wrong. I know everybody is different and have different way of work the pipeline, but please agree on at least one thing please. I have been trying to go solo scene 2014 but I can't because there is not a course like one in school that can teach a NOB like me that I can afford. Thank You and I do apologize for the way I express my self but I couldn't take it any more. OH by the way If you know how much money I spend in course and I have not learn shit yet. AIRBORNE HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ARMY ALL THE WAY.

    Hi Josh and what about using weight onto the edges you want to keep sharp ? I use that method with a BEVEL modifier set to weight instead of angle with 2 segments and a profile of 1. This makes support loops without adding geometry to my mesh. You can also add another BEVEL modifier set to angle and you can have two different bevels onto your mesh.

    A while ago i mentioned this technique in my video there: m.ua-cam.com/video/kh-jvzs-PYU/v-deo.html
    And at that time many of those who made hardsurface told me that creases was a bad idea. Its true that you have to be careful to master this technique but now at least someone is getting some interest on it. I appreciate that but unfortunately supplemental loops became a habit in a lot of tutorials out there...which is a pain for nothing...adding useless complexity and useless rendering issues..Thanks however now to mention this, man.

    I have a question: My "J" to Join NEVER cuts faces up by creating an edge on 2 vectices that face owns. I mean NEVER. What's up with that?
    Another informative video, Josh. Thank you!

    I want to make a video game console that has oval like shapes for USB-C ports, SD card slot, and a HDMI in the back. Do I make a low res HDMI and USB-C punch and boolean them out and rework the topology? Circles are easy but strange holes sounds intimidating.

    9:49 Poles are harmless as long as they're on flat surfaces. Keep poles away from edges and you're good

    5:54 Know that adding loop-cuts in sub-d *IS A DESTRUCTIVE* step! Especially in a low-poly situation. Your mesh will look different before and after

    • @eitantal726
      @eitantal726 10 місяців тому

      You can minimize the deformation caused by an added loop-cut: Instead of a loop-cut, Take a nearby edge-loop and ctrl+b it (2 segments). Adjust the depth until you get a shape that is very similar to what you started with.
