Spawn: “together we could purge the ten hells.” Scorpion: “only if you follow my lead” Spawn: “all due respect, that’s not in the cards” Hands down my favorite song of the record 🤘🏼
My daughter passed April 4th... Today I find this song. Poignant... To say the least. Even though it's a father and son.. It still applies. I'll be scattering her on her beloved Appalachian trail. Thanks for this..
Heard this song 1 time and fell in love. My wife and I were told we were having a boy and lost it at 17 weeks. A year later we found out it was a girl and it was turners syndrome. We spread the ashes in the mountains. Maybe irrelevant, but relevant in the feels with this song ❤
@@TheSeeker18oh I gotcha, thanks bro. Spawn in MK is still pretty badass tho. That's awesome. I think it won't be long till someone wants to make a spawn something or another ;-}
Hate to see this differently since so many have attributed this song to a lost loved one. To me this song is about letting go of a father figure that was never there. Over time we connected, but he was the same dude he was back then, running from any responsibility. He wants to tell me how I should have lived my life, he says how much I have screwed up my life. Thing is, I now have kids who will never feel that same abandonment that I did. From a thousand miles away my father thinks and says how my life should be. Im burning his bridge down, of running away from responsibility. As much as I want to love and care about what he says, I have to scatter the ashes of my caring for him if I will ever be my own man.
As someone who has been there, I pray you live a long life friend. May your children bury you and not the other way around. Because a parents was never meant to bury their children.

Thank you so much for this song. My father died of Covid complications on the 1st. We were estranged and hadn't spoken in 12 years (it's far too long a story to get into here). This song has helped me move on immensely. I'll see you on your next tour!
2 Years ago we lost our first son as a still birth. Things were hard back then, and Trivium's music was among a few bands that kept me going at times. I was listening to some of their songs on a play list recently and this song came up and it was one I hadn't listened to yet. Every word encapsulated the pain of that event. Having words for that day helps me get through another aspect of the pain felt that day. I don't know if the hollow feeling will ever go away, but I've still got other responsibilities to worry about to let that slow me down right now. Thank you for this. Thank you for giving words to my grief so that I can hopefully heal.

Trivium is the exact opposite of most metal bands. All of them get worse as the time goes on. Trivium on the other hand gets better and better as the years pass by. Go ahead, talk all you want but What the Dead Men say has got to be the best metal album of 2020 and we're not even halfway through the year. This song is by far the best song in the album and all of the songs in this album are bangers. My hat's off to the guys at Trivium. You did absolutely phenomenal job with this album.
This is one of my favorite songs from the record! I know it's not as intense as the other songs but this song just hits different That pre-chorus verse is🔥🔥🔥 with that sick muted guitar riff in the background and that melody is just epic!
