Good grief, I'm on it, as a member of St Giles' choir at a castle event of which I have absolutely no recollection! It's good to see so many local personalities and be reminded of how the town looked before pedestrianisation

Fabulous. Jack was a great man. Janice Ackling who played the music was my piano teacher. These are memories to treasure!

I was at Love Lane School with her. Her dad was my barber.

Amazing. Thanks for uploading this. Particularly interesting are street views of Newgate and Front Street before Jubilee Way was built. Showed this to my Mum and she reckons she can see somebody she knew in one of the processions. Also interesting to see the the War Memorial at Town End, and that the Oriental Restaurant used to be called the Hung Tu (after the Chinese poet). Enjoyed seeing what shops were like where New Look is now. Hope others will be putting up old footage of the town!

Ah the memories. I used to play in that swimming pool in the valley gardens at 16:00, it's not there now and no birds in the bird house at 15:43 anymore either. Now though there are boards on the bird house walls with photos of art from local schools. To anyone in the area, if you see a rather excellent drawing of king John signing the Magna Carta on the bird house wall I want to proudly boast that my niece Eve Hodgson drew that in 2015 when she was only 14.

Well, perhaps you haven't seen the other comment she posted under one of my uploads. That too contained spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. My criticism, however, was aimed at the general standard of education at her school. I had the misfortune of attending the same school for 6 years in the 1970s and, believe me, it was a poor place to be educated and, apparently, has not improved in the intervening years.
