Insurance is high. The price of gas is high. Grocery is high. Rent is high. Everything is high. The last thing you want is a $700-$900 monthly car note.
Exactly! Good luck Stellantis!
I’m high!

I wonder why everybody hates Stellantis?
@@rodrigocortes3641Ironically that’s the cheapest option.
Time to leave USA..
THEY RAISED PRICES 70% AND LOWER 10% IS A COME ON.
I've noticed that at Walmart and local grocery stores.
Kinda like those Black Friday sales. Total scam.
Prices have not gone up 70 percent over the last 4 years.
@@rotart12arx3 Well it looks like Trucks have gone up 100%. F-150 used to be about 40k and one i like is 80k and it's not even 2024 models.. It's 2023 and they had more than 50 of them in their lot.. lol. I was like who would pay 80k for F-150.. Apparently some idi0ts did and they are the one inflated car market.. lol. I told them call me when they want to sell it for 50k and then I might just think about it.
Yep , they need to drop prices the same amount !
A dealership that accepts an offer then tries to raise it by $500 should be named and shamed.
agree
Film the whole negotiation as the deal is made. Put it up on internet.
Considering prices have been inflated 30-50 percent in the past 3-4 years, the discounts you indicate are not nearly enough.
Not enough. It's just straight smoke and mirrors !!!
And guess what, those prices are not coming back.
Pre-Pandemic prices are long gone. MSRP’s will continue to increase each year. 🤷🏽♂️
I can see why you would see the price increases that way. The increased bottom/line prices have several components though, some are negotiable and some are not. Inflation of the cost of goods manufactured and labor costs are usually here to stay. Dealer fees, markups, manufacturing discounts to retailers, and profit objectives are variables. I believe these variables are what the video is focused on.
Our money is being devalued, That's the problem
Grandma always taught me that lying and deception always come home to roost. Behold the evidence

30% to 50% MSRP mark up, 15% off???? LOL... NO. Let them keep it on the lot. Be smart... short the market by NOT BUYING.

Every day, more and more people sink a few grand into junkers out of spite. People are really salty about new vehicle prices. Automakers and dealers beware.

When I bought my Mazda, I must have contacted around 10 Mazda dealerships. Whenever, I got the best quote, I would revisit all of the others and ask them if they can beat that price. It's much less stressful getting the dealerships to haggle against each other.
💯 had 15 Mazda dealers pleading for my business last month. Got a sweet deal on a 2024 CX-5 Preferred.
sweet! im about to buy one on the 30th.
Mazda's biggest mistake was dropping the B series pickup trucks. Midsized trucks have been hot for nearly two decades yet they dumped them.
Mazda’s biggest mistake was abandoning “Zoom-Zoom”, becoming “Premium”, and no one’s buying it. Literally. No one’s buying them.
Mazda sells trucks??
Mazda now sells rebranded Isuzu pickups in Japan, Australia, and southeast Asia. They did sell rebranded Ford Rangers in the past when Ford owned a share of Mazda
Mazda made the Ford Courier, a small pickup that pre dated the Ranger in the US.
Those were rangers.
Don't sleep on Mazda's, great overall cars, very reliable.
Thank you so much for having me on! It was a blast :)
Ram dealers offering 20-30% off MSRP is still not a good deal cause the MSRP price is 30-40% overpriced to begin with.
So true. They think we are idiots
When you compare historic year-over-year car price increases versus what the manufacturers have done in the last 4 years, getting a car at MSRP or even 10% off means you still paid 20 - 25% too much.
Well I think Tesla Model Y is the best deal for its quality for now. 45k but average American who can afford it would get about 5k tax cut. With saving money from fuel, you'll save another 5k in 5 years.. I just got one and i think I'll end up paying somewhere 35k in 5 years.. That's about same price as Toyota Rav4. Good thing about it is, you order online and just go pick it up. oh BTW my aunt paid 67k for this car 2 years ago.. lol. I think she still owes about 45k or more. lol
@@libbydobson1317 The problem with EVs and Solar panels as well is that those companies rob all the energy saving by jacking up the price. If you don't break even for over 5 years then you really arn't saving money, you are just making the Green induatry richer.
@@libbydobson1317I would argue a Model 3 is better for the average American. As of now, a lease is going for 3,500 down payment (500 being the online order price), and 330 per month if driven 10,000 miles per year or less. It's less than what I pay for my financed 25k car from 2019.
@@TheReal_JG Well I put about 15k miles to 20k miles a year. Leasing is going to cost me a lot more than just buying one. I really love how a new Model 3 looks and I wanted it as well but they had no tax cut for model 3.
Yes, and that's not considering the frivalous penalties like delivery penalty, and many other expensive penalties
I hate negotiating, to me it tells me that I cannot trust you. Because if you could had offered me a lower price to begin with and you are an honest person, than you should had already done it. Plus, prices have gone up nearly 50%, a 7% discount is not enough for most buyers.
It's the way the world works...He is trying to pick your pocket and your trying to pick his...No haggle prices can also rip you off because they know they are working with people who are scared or don't want to haggle and they can offer a "fair" no haggle price, sometimes with a no haggle markup...One place to start is to NEVER pay over MSRP, AKA the sucker price.
@@markjohnston2675just look at CarMax. Perfect example of “no haggle pricing.”

I made a reasonable offer to a local Subaru stealership 2 years ago. The manager laughed me out of the building. Last month, that same manager called me over a dozen times at different times of the day, he's ready to negotiate with me. I'll wait another 2 years till he's jobless.
Why would you want a vehicle from a failing company? How will they uphold their warranty if they're out of business.
How do you do maintenance for a car from a company that’s bankrupt?
@@Dreadnaught1Aw The point being you buy a new vehicle at least in part for the warranty. You buy a used vehicle to work on it yourself/take it to a local mechanic.
@@DruuzilTechGamesdon’t buy warranties from dealers and you’re covered.
I'm sorry but 10% is nothing now. Prices increased way to high. Now the discounted price isn't affordable for most people. I wouldn't be interested until discounts are 20%. Dealers are starting to see the writing on the wall. They economy has squeezed us all from every aspect from gas to groceries to utilities. We are all broke. New cars are now further out of reach for millions more Americans. Only 10 to 15% of Americans are buying new cars
Layoffs coming for all the Auto industries.
They’re already here.
Its happening
no Bankruptcy and bail out is coming again.
If only an automaker could make a basic small pickup with no frills for $20k. They can, but they won't.
Good.
Don’t overlook Mazda’s. I’ve been driving a 2015 Mazda3 Hatchback for over 10 years now. Had it since I got my driver’s license. They are great overall cars, super reliable (have only had 3 big repairs on it outside of the usual oil changes + tire rotations), and relatively easy & cheap to maintain. You take good care of Mazda’s and they’ll last you a lifetime
Im just trying to hold on to what I have, Prices keep going up on Everything,
Yep. Replaced the turbo in my 2009 Silverado with 324k miles. Wanted to trade it for a newer truck but holy crap. Couldn't find a replacement for under 50k. And they base work trucks under 50k aren't being made.
I tried to do a motorcycle deal yesterday, dealers don't want trade ins. They have virtually zero used inventory, and very little new inventory. They just don't want used bikes, they're offering as little as 50% of low book. Now, they're not willing to deal on leftover 2023 bikes, but they say a used very late model low mile bike is basically worthless. I told the one salesman "so you're telling me that buying a new motorcycle, like what you're trying to sell me, is the worst thing I could do in the current market?". He was pretty much speechless when he realized what he'd said.
Average age of buyers keeps rising. Young can’t afford purchase or insurance with other priorities. Less new riders every year. It doesn’t look good for the motorcycle market. My high school in 70s had 20 bikes parked out back. Now I rarely see one.
John, you are 100% correct. I’ve talked to many used bike dealers….its the worst they ever ever seen. Now is a great time to buy used motorcycles however. Facebook Marketplace and Cycle Trader have bikes where the owners keep dropping their prices.
Our local GMC dealer (Front Range of Colorado) is SWIMMING in inventory. The prices are super ridiculous...
Did they have any Canyon AT4 trucks?
New cars are too expensive and people with 5 - 7 year old cars are not willing to pay 50 - 60% more than they paid the last time they bought a new car.
I’ve tried to get my information online via email, but the salespeople won’t use anything but texting and to get their competition to recognize a text is impossible.
It’s “impossible “ in the same way they don’t admit they use Black Book to internally value cars, then claim the higher price they put in front of you is fair.
Stelantis CEO got a big raise this year....now @ $40M a year. Gotta sell a lot of cars just to pay for that.
Just saw a Mazda three for $36k and I am sure it has bells and whistles, but also saw a 2023 Malibu with 2k miles for $20k. If you need transportation, do not go BIG.
Yeah but I bet the 3 is twice the car as the Malibu, I'm at 204K miles on my '3 and still under $1000 total lifetime repair costs (and zero brake work done, original pads, mostly by downshifting). I'd shit myself if the Malibu could do that in an automatic version. You can't find a used Mazda 3 skyactiv for under 4000$ that's running because the maintenance is so cheap.
@@big0bad0brad less than 1k lifetime repair? is it because you do your own repair?
@@uche007us I do my own basic stuff like oil changes and battery replacement, headlights, air filters... I don't really count that in there because they will fail no matter what. I pay to have a shop do tires because I can't balance them myself anyway. Ecopia EP422 Plus is what I recommend, if you have Turanzas, get rid of them cuz you can't corner without them screaming.
But for car specific failures, I've replaced 2 wheel bearings and a control arm (really only the ball joint was bad but it's not easy to separate it with the way the control arm is made). Under warranty the window lock button was fixed, and there are minor issues that I elect not to fix because they don't affect driveability.
But besides the stuff you have to expect to replace, it was only the 3 parts so far to keep it going down the road. Soon I will need to replace the coolant pump and belts, and a couple rear support bars. The shocks are toast but I'm leaving them deleted because they don't affect my use of the car.

I would rather wear out my brakes than wear out my transmission. Downshifting is crazy.
Mazdas are nice and premium
Mazda has been my go to for years. I love that brand.

Assume negotiating with 4 dealerships and spend 2 hours with each dealership, he is charging around $125 per hours to do the work for you which sounds fair.
He’s also your consultant. He will walk you through the process and point out any ridiculous fees that may come up. You’re buying his experience.
Great interview, thanks for sharing.
I was very angry last week. My daughter went car shopping. She found a used Highlander. She had it checked out by a mechanic and it was a great vehicle. At the time of signing she noticed an extra $2,000 fee. They described it as a security package. My daughter told him I don't want an alarm. Suddenly it became an insurance package. She asked him to remove it from the contract then they refused to negotiate it. So her and her husband left now they wasted all the time.
Wait for the summer at least. Prices still too high.
Consumer Reports was an influence in my buying a new 2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness with their safety record and 11 years straight of recommending the Forester. I found a dealership that didn't have any BS add-ons along with a $1,850.00 instant rebate.
I think the Forester has the highest resale value (by %) of any car/truck/suv out there.
Yeah but it has a CVT...
:) THANKS MUCH for sharing! ALL the BEST!
Car insurance rates rising tough to buy new anymore.
If you're looking at a few different models/brands look at the insurance rates on different trim levels on all of those brands/models. Pretty shocking how they can vary, and it can save you in ongoing costs. Example: the difference between a 4x2 and 4x4 truck (same brand and model) can be quite substantial, so if you don't need a 4x4 get a 4x2. .
You don't need a broker. You need to just say no and refuse and be polite and hold out... It takes a couple weeks sometimes, maybe a month to get the dealership to come around and always have plan 'b'. When you go into a dealer and get to talking price and they know they have a 'hot' buyer, if they have any business sense, they will not let you go to their competition or go to a plan 'b'. They will come around and you will get a good deal. Just be stalwart and everytime they call back, or email you, tell them you're looking at other cars because you just don't think you can afford their car. Anyway... Good luck.
In 2003 sticker price on my F350 Lariet Diesel was was 46k. Managed to get it for 36k and 100k mile warranty.
Thanks again for the update.

I make a decent salary and I've got a 429 a month loan. Even that to me is high. I couldnt ever do even a 600 plus a month loan. Ive got a 2021 grand cherokee that luckily i had 12 grand to put down on.
I love watching both of your channels!
Brandon and Tomi at the same time...outstanding!
Interesting business model. Thanks for the video.
I totally agree on text and email a big reason is you have the car sellers answers in writing so they can’t deny they said something. Even private sales or dealers on sites like Craigslist if I see phone calls only no text or email and they claim it’s to avoid scam bots. No it’s most likely so they can deny what they said to you and if they won’t give me specifics on pricing etc they don’t get my business
For me, I’d do email only through a burner so I can dump it if someone disgruntled bombards me.
I keep a Google Voice # just for getting vendor and sales calls/texts. App forwards to my actual mobile #. But only do business with those who confirm everything via email.
I personally have done this compared price online before going on to the lot always lower online
Great interview. Very pertinent questions. Didn't know there were brokers to help buy a vehicle. As was said I dont want to play games at the dealership.
Why is so hard for dealerships to list the OTD price?
One reason, sales taxes are different in different locations.
Also, OTD prices are not what you should concentrate. You should concentrate on the final price before mandatory state fees (e.g.; registration and sales tax). The final price is the price plus any fake dealer fees (any fee which is taxed is a fake fee) and any add-ons the customer wants.
The same reason airlines have the same business model: They know it gets you in the door. Every time they do what you suggest, they take in less revenue.
Great, great segment. More of these please. Also, maybe recommend brokers we can trust from state to state or by region. THANKS!
Carvana over here in Scranton Pennsylvania area is down to 10% of the lot and inventory they used to be they really downsized tremendously, and it shows ! 😳😳🙄
Last Aug I bought a new Honda. I wanted a 23 Accord EX, but in Texas, my insurance would go up 445.00. A Civic was 440.00 more. The lowest insurance increase was 235.00 on a 24 HRV EXL. I bought the only one they had off the show room. I got MSRP. 29,000. No mark ups. I had 8200.00 equity in my trade 20 fit ex. I put 2K down. Payment is 342.00. APR is 5.9, not 9. I didn’t over pay then.
For zero percent interest you could have bought Mazda cx-5 for 350$ a month!
Better engine power, space and features!

I've seen this guy negotiation video. His ballz during the entire call were bigger than an 18” wheeler wheel. Much respect!
I spend only under retail. If retail prices are raised in the future, I won't fall for it because I look for bang per buck. It's best to stay off the new car lots since they are really not your friend anyway because they just see us as how much they can we get off the top without you winning. I always buy private sell and save a fortune.
I love this guy you had on. Does he have a link
Will you allow customers at your used car lot, to plug in an analyzer to check for codes??
When I need a new truck or tractor I negotiate over the phone with 3 dealerships, if a dealer will not do a ph negotiate fine I'll move on. I have just bought a car for $3000 without financing.
It’s a 2012 Toyota Prius Hybrid that gets 44-50 mpg even with its high mileage at 231K miles I expect it to last at least another dozen years.
My previous cars bought new without financing had been the 1984 First Generation Toyota Camry LE, 1985 Toyota Supra and 2005 Toyota Sienna. They all drove past 300K miles reliably and without any major repairs.
Come to NY. See how inflated car prices are. New & used. Glad I bought my Terrain before all this BS. there isn’t a car on the market that’s worth half of what it’s being advertised for. I work on new cars. I’m a body tech. It would blow your mind how many bolts & nuts that are loose, or even missing. And this is on the front of vehicles. It’s scary.
Exactly. They are 50 to 60% overpriced. Even more if you consider the quality they are throwing out there. UAW to think for the quality. Union workers are the laziest most complacent workers there are. It will only get worse. Then comes another taxpayer bailout and when they begin profiting billions again they don't even have to pay the bail out $$$ back. What a great system 😂
I do this as a hobby and negotiate deals for friends, family members and of course for myself. Best deal I had was for a new car for myself back in 2017. Sticker price was $109K. I got $34,500 off MSRP
Brandon, you missed an opportunity here. He was heavily involved in that situation - "Dealer Wants Car Back After They SOLD IT" that you did a video on.
To justify very high increase of price all makers started to put crap tablets and electronci garbage in cars. Looks like if you don`t have 13inch display in your dashboard you cannot drive anymore from home to work. A lot of garbage that add up cost to cars without a real value added up. Just a very expensive things to fix.
The ram isn’t selling. But they are RAISING the msrp even more for the new models. The wagoneer had a higher discount during Covid craziness than now.
is it true dealerships dont like cash deals and will go as far to backtrack on whatever deal you had worked out just so they can get you on lease/financing? whats the best way to pay cash and get a good deal?
Had a Chevrolet dealership try to tell me that most people love their add ones.
Yeah, that is pretty funny.😮
I clicked because I saw Mazda on the thumbnail. I will never buy a mazda again. Bought a 2016 3skyline when it was new, and then the infotainment system started encountering problems 2 years later. At this point the screen has been melted for about 4 years and reloads every 30 seconds. Even when I've pulled it in to the shops to be addressed, they've only every charged me to "reset" it which never fixed any problems at all. The only option I've ever gotten otherwise is a total reinstall for thousands of dollars.

Stellantis is offering deals right on the dealer's website in my area. Still afraid to buy from them no matter how cheap they get.
how can you find out how long a car has sat on a new dealer lot?
Having purchased a car via direct to consumer, I hope/plan to never buy another vehicle from a dealer. Easy as getting new furniture or major appliance--even brought it to me at home.
If you have models that have a year's sell time you won't be in business much longer.
This is great consent. I also recently used a car broker rather than going to the dealership myself. It was a great experience and completely stressless. The broker was able to negotiate a lease below invoice and because of the relationship they had with the dealerships, I was able to receive a tier one deal, although I was probably going to receive a tier 2 on my own.
Did you notice an influx of vehicles at the auction since Vroom declared they were going out of business?
Another middleman is another reason to hike the price.
Look for a grandpa car and tell the dealers to f off and start making affordable cars that last.
Well, how much does he charge the broker?
Mazda and Subaru lost my business forever with their mandatory dealer markup on their vehicles. I bought a car in mid-2023 and they wouldn’t budge on the markup. By that time, they had plenty of the models I was shopping for, so their “supply chain” problems rang empty to me. I guess I’m a Toyota customer moving forward. Their loss.
