I've been hearing that as well, but I don't know if it's true. It could be that someone said that, and a bunch of other people just repeated it without verifying the claim. Either way, the books are very nice, and I'm happy to have them.
The word “canon” doesn’t really exist when talking about Tolkien. Since he never got to finish his work most of the lore comes from drafts and notes compiled by Christopher. That being said yeah, David Day often adds a little of his personal interpretation without clarifying that it is his personal interpretation.
I want to buy this box set of the David day Tolkien books but it looks like he’s re-releasing them all in November and adding a 7th book to the volume (which is already out as a standalone now). Can’t find a reason as to why they have been slightly redesigned. Also I looked up the dimensions, and the new ones will be smaller and colours won’t be as vibrant. They are slightly more dulled. But the preorder price for the set of 7 is basically the same as the current more vibrant 6 volume edition. Could you take a look at the new box set coming and tell me what you think? Should I buy the current, 6 volume, more colourful edition now, which I can easily buy the 7th standalone volume for (but it won’t fit in the box set), or should I preorder the new edition coming in November that houses all 7 volumes but will be slightly smaller and the colours are dulled? I don’t see why he didn’t keep them the same and just release a new box to fit all 7. Thanks. Edit: when talking about colour, I’m referring to the cover only. The current covers are more vibrant and the new ones coming are more dulled. I think the vibrant yellow red and green look much better as opposed to the dulled ones coming out.
@@DnDnBeer I had a few of these until I started reading through them. That's when I discovered that Day is basically regurgitating other people's work and adding his own, unresearched material.
He isn't ripping the books, if you own pleather books you'd know those spines are tight and need to be exercised in order for the pages to be fully viewed. Your comment doesn't make any sense hence the term 'ripped'.
It is pretty nice you show how it looks inside!
I’ve been looking to get this set but wasn’t sure what the interior layout & contents were. This looks like a wonderful set.
Heard the author takes creative liberties and isn’t cannon

Hi, do you mean the pages inside won't be as vibrant, or the covers?
Cool books
I need this editions in spanish.
Those covers aren’t embossed. They are debossed.
Dangit.
The lord of the rings 😍😍😍
SILMARILLION 😍😍😍
Day's work is superficial, inaccurate fluff that add absolutely nothing to our understanding of the lore. Save your money.
Too late.

Yep I came here to see the inside and it looks upsetting
Yep. No Tolkien fan should buy this.
I really hope you you stop
Treating these books like this!?!? Fuck man, stop ripping it all apart
Ha! Thanks. Always good advice. Don't rip my books. I'll try to remember that.
