Andrew you are the best lecturer, I ❤ your work and your transparency. The other videos with Louise are to confuse for me because they made questions that I don’t understand what they’re talking about. I am learning from you at the bench tutorials. I am addicted to your videos. Thanks ❤😊😊😊😊
Clever little device, clearly intended for tool junkies, LOL! Actually, though, as an apartment-dweller, this would really help me and *allow* me to actually make these rings, because the less hammering of any sort I have to do, the better. Don’t want to piss off the neighbors, or the landlord, with that noise! Another nice video, Andrew, thanks. I like your new back wall, too.
Can't wait to try mine. Would it be possible for you to do a video sometime about soldering a textured ring and how to handle the cleanup of the joint? Maybe give us some tips in how to avoid major cleanups on the joint of a textured ring? This is still an area of growth for me. 😂
This looks like a nice way to make a crushed stone inlay ring as well. The inside of the ring is basically a comfort fit and the outside concave area can be filled with inlay and CA glue.
Awesome video! Do you hav any tips/can you make a video on how to clean a seam of a textured ring? i never seem to get it right and always sand off the texture :/
Hello Andrew I bought the Durston spinner tool. But I am not getting an even flare. One side will flare and not the other. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong.
That is a neat tool. You have great videos ,thank you. I know this is off the subject of spinner rings but how would you temper a silver tie bar 5mm wide 18ga? Thanks in advance. George
Any chance of getting the discount offered on the marathon? I couldn't order then due to the overwhelming response and the computer crashing and have been too busy to think about ordering it since then.
Andrew, you left out the spinny part mate. The easy part is the flare the hard part is soldering the spinner without hooking it up to the ring foundation.
Nice idea, but shipping is way too high to purchase. Given no options other than high price, which is a similar price to the device. Was going to order one but cancelled it once I saw the shipping price. Will look in the hardware store for something similar in the plumbing section. Sorry, Andrew, but we purchasers should be allowed to select cheaper shipping options, not high priced cone only DHL Expedited. I don't mind it taking some time to arrive here in Australia.
@Atthebench no problem I totally understand. Just a little disappointing to go through and find such high pricing for shipping. It's not the first time I've had to cancel a prospective purchase.
Sorry that you find the film disappointing. I did show you a couple of the spinner rings and clearly demonstrated how to make the ring if I had added them. I felt it better to show the flaring action and the movement of the metal using the tool. If the spinner rings were in place you wouldn’t have seen the flaring very easily.

Thanks great video, ingenious tools to make spinner rings ❤as always your the best teacher ❤
Thank you Andrew. An ingenious tool & helpful demonstration. Glad you are resolving the number of ads.
Can't wait to try mine.

I can't wait to try this style ..your videos are so good and informative. Thank you ! I'm going to look at getting one of those flare tools.
Your teaching makes sense
This looks like a nice way to make a crushed stone inlay ring as well. The inside of the ring is basically a comfort fit and the outside concave area can be filled with inlay and CA glue.
I’ve been using a plumbing flare for years. This looks so much easier!
Great video... as usual!👍
Super happy about this tool! I would like to know where can I get the chart for the ring sizing?
I like your sparkly spinner spanner.
😆
Great to see how easy it is to use.
Thank you! Great vlog!
Thank you…I did get the flatter but haven’t tried it yet…you make it look so simple..it’s always the soldering which scares me 😱
Flarer
Thank you a lot, very detailed and understandable.
Thank you for shering look good.
Thanks for demonstration! Just ordered this from Durston (with your code) and l’m looking forward to make some curved rings with different textures.
Just got my flaring tool but I'm getting an uneven flare on my rings
Awesome video! Do you hav any tips/can you make a video on how to clean a seam of a textured ring? i never seem to get it right and always sand off the texture :/
Hello :) Where did you get your ring size table from? Thank you, Tean
Hello Andrew I bought the Durston spinner tool. But I am not getting an even flare. One side will flare and not the other. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Hello were you able to figure out why it didn’t flare evenly? I noticed he did not text you and others back
Hello @zuma3334 no I actually have not used it since. But I have some people who want me to teach them. So I guess I will be trying it again.
Same problem!! @@dawnsaffel2620
Great video as per usual Andrew :-) Is there a separate video on how to make the actual rings used as spinners?
No but I can do one if you like?
@@Atthebench Yes please👌🏽

Andrew I got one of these from your 12 hour marathon ( brilliant day) but it doesn’t flare evenly for me, any ideas where I’m going wrong?
Hello,
Were you able to find out why it didn’t flare evenly? I noticed he did not text you back. Thank you
you can all so use it for flesh tunnel earrings.
Good point.
I wasn’t clear on what gauge silver you used for the band? You said not point eight? I don’t understand? Is it 0.8 ?
I figured it out it’s 20 gauge
I've seen many solder videos, but what is the grit of your emery paper and what is your buffing stick, leather??
I only use 600 grit and I use it wrapped around the wooden stick
How do you get the spinners on the ring?
Any chance of getting the discount offered on the marathon? I couldn't order then due to the overwhelming response and the computer crashing and have been too busy to think about ordering it since then.
The offer ended on Monday I’m afraid.
Can I use a butane torch for hard solder?
yes of coarse you can. Its what i use for making the initial ring with.
Thank you! I don’t have any of the gas torches like mixed gas ones so this is a big help
Now I have a bad case of the I wants it.
Would this tool work to make a coin ring?
Do you make these to sell ?
DURSTON.com sells them
Andrew, you left out the spinny part mate. The easy part is the flare the hard part is soldering the spinner without hooking it up to the ring foundation.
You solder the spinner ring on its own and then put it over the main body to flare it

Sorry Peter. But with so many parcels going missing we have to have a method of tracking and claiming our money back

so so many ads,is that normal?
Thats UA-cam doing that, not us. Will sort it out
Still love your channel, keeps us all sane during lockdown.
so you made this flair do-hicky??? I thinks that's what I read! Call Rio Grand here in America! I wanna get it! and support your brain!
.
Should have been titled How To Make a Flared Ring. Would have been better to see it flare with the spinners on. Disappointing.
