consider this for tiny gears: use your fiber laser, turn on wobble, and that will allow cutting metal much easier. also, if you have a smaller focal length on the lens, the better. I made my own wedding ring on the Sherline lathe too, the night before my wedding as I am a procastinator. I miked my finger as I wanted a snug fit. Bored the ring out and tryed it on not deburring it enough. It locked onto my finger, which became swallen imediatelly. I started to pull it but the somewhat still sharp edge started digging into my skin. I ended up cutting it in half with a pair of snips and started doing it all over again, but larger this time. Thank God I only had brass in my shop. Imagine had I turned it out of titanium...

I have always loved making tiny things even though my hands are like a gorilla's, it has always been much easier to make larger objects than small ones so I was naturally drawn to the more difficult skill set, so when I see work like this and the skill needed to make it I enjoy it far better than if it were to be of a scale that is easier to handle. Great work, and nice ring! I wish I had the precision equipment that you do because it would be incredible to be able to make things like this, myself rather than having to rely upon a large manufacturer to offer such items at inflated retail prices, plus the pride and sense of accomplishment you get from being able to say that you make it yourself, is very rewarding to say the least! Hello,
as usual you have polished my eyes!
seeing that with a tool like your lathe (which looks like a toy) you can do similar wonders is always a great thrill. the really wonderful thing is that you often lose the proportions and when you can understand how small the pieces you work on are, it is even more exceptional.
for someone who gets angry when with the drill press I can't drill exactly in the center a 10mm bolt with a 6mm bit (normally I start in the center but I always end up off-center on the other side of the 25mm of the bolt and also quite a bit '... I'll try to change the drill) these look like magic.

If you cut the head of the screw i whould look even better, but youll have to make a rest on the gears so the botom of the screw is still there to keep the gear from falling
