Everyone is expecting more ingredients because they aren't considering this to be traditional fried rice. China recently (20-25 years or so) came out of harsh times, there wasn't a huge variety of ingredients like today. People ate what they could afford or what they harvest on their own. Today on the other hand, people focus on the taste of their meal. I admire him making a traditional meal, although his tossing could use some practice

wow...not enough veggies for my tastes. I like some garlik, peas, carrots, celery finely chopped and some soy sauce during the stir fry. To me it tastes better than soy sauce added after.

@Janeymacmac That's the simplest yet if cooked properly, can be the best fried rice. However, the secret is not only the wok. If only this is in HD quality, the sweat dripping from him is the all-in-one ingredients. (if you're born in live in Asia, you'll know of this "secret" ingredient) :)
I don't know why some of you people are having such huge problems coping with the ingredients. If I make a simple egg fried rice for accompaniment to veg/meat then I might add a little white pepper, light soya sauce to the egg/rice. That's normal for egg fried rice. Other ingredients would only be added if the fried rice is planned as a complete dish. Please try to calm yourselves, have a hot bath or some other such relaxing activity. Sheesh, so much swearing.
i disagree, it actually gives more flavor with salt because salt is a flavor enhancer, soy gives out a different taste other than saltly, with salt the rice will have the neutral taste which soysauce will cause teh rice to burn, anyways he's making traditional white fry rice.
My father is the king of fried rice. He says you must hold the handle and throw the pan up and down and on his kitchen stove you hear this irritating loud 'vurr-vurr' sound.
why are people so disgusted by what they are eating i mean if thats whats been happening for generation then it is more likely to happen in future and present.
