  • The Samsung Galaxy S8 can seem impossible to repair yourself. With no visible screws and a solidly glued-on display and rear panel, you might think there’s no hope of getting into this phone. But you absolutely can, and this video will walk you through the steps of replacing the display on your Samsung Galaxy S8.
When you take apart your Galaxy S8, be sure to follow the step-by-step instructions on iFixit.com. Not only will you find helpful photos and detailed instructions, you’ll also be able to read comments and suggestions from other users who have already completed the repair-which can be super helpful, especially if it’s your first DIY fix.
    www.ifixit.com...
Keep in mind, that opening the Galaxy S8 will likely compromise its waterproof seals. Once your repair is complete, you’ll need to take extra care to avoid exposing your S8 to liquid damage in the future.
    For this repair you’ll need
    A replacement Display

I was talking to a screen repair tech yesterday about replacing the screen on the S8 and other S and Note models beginning with the S7. Samsung's design now includes using adhesive all over the device, which I think has been useful for getting a higher IP rating, but makes repairs and screen replacements WAY more difficult. This is really the first thing that has soured me on my otherwise stellar experiences with the Samsung flagship phones. This guy told me the screen repair cost on the S10 and Note 10 will likely cost $400+ unless you're brave enough to attempt it yourself. And, of course, the chance of investing a bunch of $$ in the screen repair kit and then still damaging your phone while trying to disassemble it seems a bit too high for my budget.

The hard truth about replacing the screen on this phone is that it's extremely hard. Even if you do successfully replace the screen, you've removed the water resistant adhesive in the process. You're better off paying someone who has the right tools to do it, or buy a new phone.

  •  4 роки тому +3

Is the screen adhesive needed to install it back or is just for the waterproof purpose?

The Iphone 6 is the easiest repair. but its the only iphone that is an easy repair. Samsungs are easier most of the time. the iphone 7 is ridiculous as is the I8.

    • @Juicebox0
      @Juicebox0 6 років тому +4

Well the iPhone 7 and 8 are still much easier than the Galaxy series (6 and newer). It normally takes me about 15-30 mins to repair the iPhone 6 to 8. But the Galaxy devices normally take me about 45-90 mins depending on each model.
The only real annoying thing about the iPhone 7 and 8 are the Y000 screws, which are still better than gluing everything together and feeling like you're gonna break everything in the process with the Galaxy series.

    • @JJ-gm5mh

The reason being is probably due to the IP68 rating of Samsung phones from the S6 onwards.
Same with the xperia phones, that the Iphone really only just caught up to hahaha. And Iphone owners are raving about an outdated, and many years late technology that sony phones had since 2013.

In my experience no. The thing she uses is a good idea, because it's proper amount of heat in the right area. Hot air guns (big ones that aren't made for soldering) don't work well because it spreads too much heat and makes touching the device difficult.

Eye opener? LMFAO. Or a $10 heat gun. More product placement than tutorial. Here's an easy way to open ur phone. Take a flat head screwdriver then put it at the top of ur phone while standing it up kind of wedging the flat head between screen and phone. Next come down with about 100lbs of pressure with a hammer on the handle of screwdriver and Voilà. Phone open. Your welcome UA-cam

Lol, that's what I thought. It's like changing the tyre on a car, but you also have to dismantle the engine. Think I'll just live with the crack
