You’ve actually brought light to something about this record that I hadn’t considered. It is EXPERTLY sequenced. “Without darkness, there’s no light” perfectly leads into “If Darkness Had a Son”. And “Misery, she fills me. But she’s not what I’m living for.” That’s the final victory of light over darkness. You’re a genius.
I was completely blown away by all songs that were not singles in the cinema premiere. When listening to it afterwards i realized this was probably my favorite Metallica album since 1986! Fantastic album!
Agree on it being pretty different from Hardwired. If you compare production, solos, and I guess chugs they're similar but that's missing the forest for the trees. The songs overall take very different directions with lyrics, vocals, bass, and arrangements. There are a lot of dark twisted and weird riffs that aren't crazy by modern standards but are things that neither 80s Metallica nor 2010s Metallica would do
Great video and I agree with you, on your final words about how this album differs from Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. I actually wrote in the comments on Loudwire something similar, that it is the closest album, to being a little something for everyone, who is a Metallica fan. I like all of the changes they had gone through and of course, I also like it when they play fast too. Keep up the great work on the channel and stay safe.
Thus begins my favorite period of Metallica. Hearing how the new songs mature during live performances, what parts get the best fan reactions , what solos get tweaked, how vocal intonations enhance Jaymz delivery and the small changes to the lyrics. It's great that we get to see this all on line these days.
When I listen to this album, it feels to me as if it wasn't meant to be a follow up of Hardwired, but a follow up to St Anger written with a high degree of angst as James was battling his demons in psychological therapy. Now years later and after battling the relapse and alcohol rehabilitation and the divorce, he's looking back at his life's journey trying to understand and explain what happens in the course of one's life to change him or her. This isn't a story about Tommy or Pink, this is James's introspective self examination. Room of Mirrors drives the theme home in grand style. From what I've read and watched, the critics generally praise this work and the fans received it well except for the detractors and haters. While I'm still soaking this music it, I'm wondering what the next album will bring. I think the album is brilliant; of course I may be full of shit! Let me know what you think.
Been a fan of Metallica for over 30 years and I’m loving this record. Your total right when you say that it’s honest and reflective and that it’s the best thing they have released in over 30 years. Inamorata is my favourite track by a long shot. Something about it just hits me really deep and I can’t get enough of it. Keep up the good work, your channel rocks 🤘
To my old man ears this is the best mixing/production I have heard since that black album. Very simple choices all the way around. I suspect this record really is a standout album from legendary band. Very hard to pull off but I think they did it. Again.
I love this album so far. I fell out of love with Metallica after the Black Album, but I am definitely buying this one. The lyrics in seem very well considered and must less contrived than those on the albums that I have avoided.
I'm loving it. It doesn't peak as high as Hardwired, but its more diverse, more consistent, references their past both indirectly and directly, and James vocals are a whole new experience. Best I've ever heard him.
72 seasons is so diverse because hetfield and ulrich let the other 2 members play. Hetfield told in an interview that he and lars don't want to sit down and write all the song riffs again, in other words robert and kirk also wrote the album. It's now the whole band dictating the song. Before it was mainly james and lars.
First albums were different because burton wrote music a lot. After burtons death the sound died with him. What is normal, if one of the main writing influencers dies and the other need to take over. Even the ego's clashing because of differences.
This album pleasantly surprised me as well. Very well put together, lots of emotions, energy and self-reflection. You can hear their early influences in many tracks with hints of their past releases. Overall pretty amazing record. Great effort by the guys in this stage of their careers. Heavy Metal Forever!! 🤟
At first, I thought that this will be a middle of the road type of album, I find myself constantly listening to it, I hear a,lot of familiar riffs, e.g. the riff from the demo of The Judas Kiss towards the end of You Must Burn I think. As well as early riffs from KEA . Thanks Metallica for making 2023 better
Best synopsis yet for breaking down the art of this amazing album!!! Great job Metal Pilgrim! 😁 Favorite track: tough question but I really love You Must Burn!
Howdy Mr. Pilgrim, had to check out your review while listening to the new Metallica album. I'm an old close-minded fart so I'm one of those first four albums kinda guy. :) But every five year or so I fall for the hype and I go and check out their new album. :) hehe cool review, Cheers!
Great video dude. I'm a massive Metallica fan. Have been since I first heard the Ride The Lightning album in '92. I love this album. I like how you went through each song. I absolutely love all of the guitar harmonies and James' vocals...absolute brilliance. I can't wait to see them live. I love your videos man. Keep up the awesome content ...\m/....
I think it's a masterpiece. Best album since the Cliff era? How many times did I look to my side last night during the premiere to see my bro already looking back as we marveled at an old school riff.
At least it's better than all albums after Reload. At what place it will be among others, the time will show. For me right now it looks just great. Chasing Lights and Shadows Follow blew up my mind.
Just got it and I’m on to the 4th track. Is the album ok? Yes. It’s nice to hear them trying with what creative motivation they still have. But like “Hardwired”, will I be listening to it a year from now? Probably not.
The final 3 songs are the best keep listening and the songs you don't initially like will grow on you big time I thought dM and HTSD were better after 1at playthrough but 72 seasons is the best album since black
Just wondering, has it grown on you? I actually listened a couple times upon release and put it away for a couple months. Just wasn't listening to metal for a stretch. Now it totally hits me and has been played daily for weeks.
I'm a bit mixed with this one. The songs grow on you for sure but somehow I feel like the album is pretty safe. It's still a good record and I'm loving the bright yellow sleeve
There is a dense level of unpackaging with the album, that for me is gonna take a good few listens to absorb and digest. The songs initially to me, lacked range and character of say, Hardwired's first half. I thought it was all too samey, familiar and the songs outstayed their welcome. This was sadly hammered home by Kirk's repetitious ReLoading of the same licks and ideas in all the songs. Id have liked some clean tone passages to add extra character, individuality to the songs and some editing is absolutly needed on some songs. But I think the album to me is a grower. I can see myself getting into it more over time. Im looking forward to hearing new things and it hitting me as time goes on.
You know, I've been a ride or die MetallicA fan since I was about 14 years old (I'm 41 as of 2023). I'm they guy that finds myself defending St. Anger (love when they play "Frantic" live). That being said, it's very hard for me to say 72 Seasons is a "Masterpiece", for me that will always be Master of Puppets. However, I believe it is ABSOLUTELY the best material they have put out maybe since The Black Album. Certified banger! I guarantee it, I stand by it.
I am not trying to be toxic but why are people saying that it is the best since the black album because this comment blows way over my head. I liked every album...until this album dropped and I for one...Did not like one song off of this...even the last song that everyone is raving for since it sounds boring and mid. I feel betrayed but I calmed down since earlier because I was really upset but this album is the worst album they had ever produced.
@@Alidonius6721 you need to listen to it a few more times go for a long drive and blast it it's so good man. My first playthrough I wasike this isn't as good as DM or HTSD but now I'm certain it's their best in 32 years
@@joshuablankenship4701 I listened to it about 9 times and it is still garbage and I love Metallica. It is crap - enough said. I am not trying to be narcissistic but this is where I believe wholeheartedly is where they are slowly dying from the inside out.
I think the Album is Superb - its very METALLICA! - Thy wear their influences and even their 'own' stuff seems to influence them as there is a lot of familiarity with their riffs - but 'fresh' too... I prefer it to Hard-Wired...
Wow, that's insane! Never heard it before, but the full version sounds very different, it's just this part that is similar. But thanks for bringing this up!
Pretty accurate assessment. I feel the same. I always felt that the Load/Reload albums showcased their influences. You can hear everything from Sabbath, Skynyrd, UFO, ZZ Top on those albums.
How can it be their most cohesive without any standout singles ? Where is moth into flame, where is hardwired? Where is now that we’re dead ? There’s nothing worth coming back to on this record. All the songs are mediocre.
@@facelessandnameless I like both albums equally. Why argue over this is better then then that. Jesus Christ It’s better then ANYTHING else out there being made today. Damn just enjoy it.
@@joshd3192 Hardwired had at least 10 good songs. But 72 seasons just 5 good songs. So, it is the their worst effort after st anger, load and reload. Hetfield struggles to sing in sync with rhythm of at least 5 songs
What I truly enjoy (and also can't understand about my own country) is that fans around the world are embracing the new album more so than my fellow American fans.
It's not a bad album. Wasn't expecting anything new. Kind of surprised actually because some of it does sorta sound like their old stuff (albums 1-4) with some of the Load/Reload sound mixed in. It's cool seeing them still make new albums. How many of us are still yearning for MOP/AJFA Part 2? Don't lie, lol. I wonder what would happen if they teamed up with Rasmussen or Bob Rock again. I don't know. Miss James' old voice and growl.
Great album, mixture of different Metallica eras. Definitely, some of the songs were not overthinking, especially by Kirk's solos 😀. But I really enjoyed listening to this album. Sadly, I wasn't able to join a worldwide cinema premiere. Cheers to Metal Pilgrim for organizing this event here in Ukraine 🍻😀🤟
Well, I haven't listened to the whole album so far, only the singles and some tracks of the second half, but at the moment I can't get into the album right now. What I give them credit for is, as you already pointed out, that it's totally diffrent to their recent album Hardwired to self destruct. That Black Sabatth'esque riffs and mood is reminiscent to that album and you can hear it wheter from a lyrical or from the rythm and heavy riffs, which give them a distinctive mark. I really give them credit for and not like, for example, Slayer, where I really have problems differentiate one song from one album to another. However, the songs speed and rythm is, what really gives me problems grinding my teeth into it. Luy Aeterna is good, but for me it's okay. Can listen to it, sure, but didn't quite get into it. If darkness had a son is one of those groovy songs, but the tempo really is...meh to me. Same with Screaming Suicide. While lyrical very intimate and talks about a taboo topic it just doesn't fit with the tempo and rythm. Would have loved, if they made it more like a ballad like Unofrgiven or nothing else matters. Room of Mirrors was my favorite on the album so far. Good, solid Metallica package. Nothing to add in here. Inamorata is...diffrent, I give you that, but the repetion of the chorus really throws me off that track, but that's an issue I have with that album in general; is that repetition of the chorus over and over again, where it becomes dull very quick in my ears. That's my main issue right there. All in all, I miss ironically diversity on that album so far. A solid mix of quick riff shredocalypse songs like "Spit out the bone", a ballad like "unforgiven III" and some heavy, slow songs like "dream no more" or "sad but true" would have been better package to see in that album. Tl;dr All in all, it's good, it's solid, it's unique, but misses the oomph, imho.
Great album, and the first time in a long time I can say that the new album from Metallica is its own entity. You can't categorize this album's songs into "this sounds like Justice... this sounds like Master... ; well I tried to do that at first like I've done with Death Magnetic and Hardwired..., but I realized with 72 Seasons that isn't really applicable anymore! This album is its own and the category for the songs on this album is 72 Seasons!! Oh DUDE BTW! Just noticed your Schecter guitar there in the background! I love Schecter guitars man! Got a Hellraiser C-1 myself, and it is the guitar I use the most!
Good video and yeah I think that the title track of Hardwired would have been considered an all time classic by them too had it been written in the 80s ( and yeah I`ve been there since Kill `em all in `83 )
I like a lot of what you said here. It is an incredibly consistent album in that there really isn't filler here, which I did think there was on Hardwired... To Self Destruct, and thematically honest throughout. In my opinion it's probably Kirks best outing at least since Load which did have some really good lead work here and there. I just wish he would sit down and actually write his solo's because when he does they are great. Overall I think musically their collective performance is great. My gripes? I can honestly say I'm not going to be singing along with 90% of this album. I miss being able to sing along with Metallica. In recent albums there are lines here and there, but in this album not so much. Maybe Lux Aeterna which is about the only song on the album that I feel like it sounds like a single. Overall I think I agree with you about Crown of Barbed Wire being musically my favorite song, and I love the harmony bit in Room of Mirrors. For the straight up naysayers out there, I gave up a long time ago keeping my fingers crossed for a straight up thrash metal album, as in the 90's. Metallica is going to do what they want to do, and I'm at least happy to get an album that is consistent and I can still enjoy. Where would I rank this album? Admittedly pretty low despite being consistent and not really having filler because I don't really think it has a whole lot of tracks I'd want to hear live or would want to put on repeat. Again, the only song on the album that struck me as being a strong single was Lux Aeterna which of course really got me pumped for the album and then I got progressively less enthused with the next two tracks they released. After sitting through Inamorata I was actually kinda glad it was the last song because I had gotten my fill. There are no songs that I think are weak tracks, but I'd still put on their other more recent efforts from Death Magnetic/Beyond Magnetic and Hardwired before I'd slap on 72 Seasons. It was a good effort though. Hopefully they'll follow it up sometime this decade.
I've listened to the album several times over now and I have quite mixed emotions about this album. It sounds like a more mature Metallica, and as others have pointed out, it feels like a mish mash of all different eras moulded into one. There are definitely some songs in the album that make me bang my head but overall I think this is either one album which has disappointed me, or at the very least (most likely) will grow on me the more time I spend listening to it. This happened with both of their previous outings (Death Magnetic and Hardwired) it took me time to adjust. Is it a better album than both of those albums I just mentioned? Not sure yet. Wasn't the biggest fan of the 'slower' less thrashy Metallica.
Somehow they managed to combine the sound of Kill 'Em All, Load/Reload, and Garage Inc into a cohesive whole (which is impressive). I think the songs are better put together and arranged than in Load/Reload, where they sound rather simple in comparison. Overall, it's an album done well: vocal melodies are great, the songs are not too long nor too short. And it sounds better after each listen. As for the solos, for some reason, they decided to not make them the culmination point of the song (like in One and Master Of Puppets). Perhaps this way it suits better the songs. I don't think it's bad. At least it's much better than having no solos at all.
Kill ‘em All ???….. there’s ZERO on this lengthy tripe that sounds like that album whatsoever; this commercial corporate crap ….. from the titles of the tracks / the cover artwork is pathetic/ the tracks are WAY to long …… it’s too late : they are trying to be what was - and for many it’s not working …..
My favourite Metallica album since MoP. You must burn! Probably my favourite Metallica song since Outlaw Torn. Having not really enjoyed a full Metallica album since MoP I was really pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it a lot. Only real weak track for me being Screaming S. All just my opinion of course, no right or wrong in the game. Interesting to note the influences, I picked up a lot of Motörhead, Diamond Head, some Doom/Stoner in there, really good stuff. In fact the album it reminded me most of was Garage Inc in many places.
I have to give the album a couple more spins, but this seems to be the best album since 1988's And Justice For All. There's a lot of Thrash Metal here. Nobody's saying it but I think Room of Mirrors could have easily fit on Master of Puppets! Some songs could have been shorter, but it is what it is. A decent attempt for Guys who are hitting their 60s. I expect it to hit Number 1 on the charts and hopefully Heavy Metal will gain some new young fans to carry the genre into the future when Metallica, Megadeth and the old ones are gone...
You kinda say what I said to my son. I said " it sounds nothing like they did before, yet sounds exactly like a Metallica album, somehow" I love it. The top 3 songs on HWTSD are better than the top 3 of 72, but top to bottom 72 is better than HWTSD.
Metallica is a phenomenal band. they have been all of my life. They are amazing live and they never fail to pay homage in their shows to their first albums. They set the bar incredibly high with their first 9 albums (garage days and Inc included). I appreciate anything they release and love seeing them live.
The entire second part flows as water in my hears !!! Amazing ! Not even one filler the entire album . Also loved the three first songs in a raw. The less liking song was Sleepwalk (had very good parts but didnt like it as entity)
I dunno man. Overkill’s new album is a kick in the teeth compared to this. 🤷🏻♂️ But hey, we always love Metallica. Been listening myself since MoP was new.
It's true that Overkill have maintained their creativity, compared to Metallica, but Overkill put out albums much more frequently, so that's probably why. The same with Megadeth and Testament and all the other bands that regularly release albums.
@@mrpositronia fully agree on Megadeth and Testament. They created some gems over time compared to the stale Metallica formula. How many more mid tempo boom chuck boom boom chuck songs with riffs in E minor and the same wah solo can one stomach? Yes, sales numbers agree with their formula. But we all know that at least James has more talent than this.
I've Loved Metallica since I was 15 in the late-90s they were my introduction to metal and my favorite band, to this day they are still my number one favorite band and I love this album 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
It sounds fun but not heavy. Just fun. Safe and fun. No anger, no war, no "kick their asses"... Just some fun with toying with some riffs. That's all I really ever get these days when I hear them.
I haven't yet picked up 72 Seasons, but what I've heard of it sounds like a return to the 70s / NWOBHM worship of Kill 'em All, which can only be a good that ng in my book!
For people that think Metallica is good these days, please check out these songs and realize thrash is much more nowadays. Here's a list with modern thrash songs: Havok - Root of Evil HeXeN - Knee Deep in the Dead Warbringer - Remain Violent Power Trip - Executioner's Tax Traitor - 66 Exeter Street Blackened Thrash: Lucifuge - Black Battalions High Command - Fortified by Bloodshed Ketzer - Warlust Inculter - Impending Doom Witchtrap - Powerof the Maul Blackened Tech Thrash: Cryptosis - Transcendence Vektor - Pteropticon Revocation - The Grip Tightens Paranorm - Critical Mass
Thanks for this list, I have screen grabbed it and going to check them out, I find it hard to believe there are no bands that are doing it better than Metallica, it confuses me that everytime since at anger every album gets the "it's the best one since justic/black album, does it mean everyone is prepared for second best, as no one ever disputes the cliff era is the greatest, I am 44 and have been listening since the black album came out, and still to this day I don't think any of their music comes close to ride the lightning, I understand they are older and can't have that energy anymore, but where are the angry, hungry 20 something bands playing like their lives depend on it? and why do Metallica get to monopolize the genre? Is it simply nostalgia and blind loyalty? I've listened to this new album and honestly it sounds like some awful local pub rock band won the lottery.
The 72 Seasons song sounds like it was left off of Hardwired. It has that feel to it that that album had. I haven't heard the rest though. I don't know if the whole album has that feel.
Fr, how do you even analyze all the songs, albums and just bands that you analyze? I can't come much further than "Oh, this has lots of energy, I like this. This one lacks the punch I'm looking for, it's not really doing it for me" Often when I find songs that I think are ok, but nothing more than that I usually try to things that I'd add or change to make the song more to my liking (I'm a musician myself, so I can figure out some nice things that I think would improve the song in question to my personal liking without changing what the song is (if that makes any sense)), but so far there's nothing I'd change on any songs on the album Also, heads up: Burning Witches is releasing a new album on the 5th of May (ngl, the 2 released singles sound VERY promising as they contain loads of energy and oldschool vibes) and Primal Fear has announced to release a new album on the 1st of September (and imo you can't really go wrong with Primal Fear); I think you should check and review those for us as well, but that's just my personal opinion (but maybe dig into their discography and history as well if that helps you understand them better?)
Thanks man! I actually did not announce it but I had Laura from Burning Witches for an interview last week! So I’ll make to release the episode with her next week!🤘
Sorry, but at the moment the song I'm liking the most so far is Chasing Light. I have the riff repeating itself all the time in my head. They have made me want to pick up the guitar and learn it with the guitar. Very cool riff and somewhat difficult.
Everyone seems to very much like different songs on this album, what are the 4 songs you find most boring are another persons 4 favourite songs. So maybe it’s pretty good but just varied ?
Well I think of it this way, I just listened to Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and …and Justice for All last night, and I found that the album of 72 Seasons is a lot like those earlier albums, especially AJFA. All these “fans” complain and expecting something like the Black Album or Load/Reload, when these guys are doing a great mix of thrash and hard rock
This album was awesome screw the wannabes famous people on UA-cam that they think they are good in music when they are not this album definitely brought a lot of the 80s and 90s vibe and that’s something the fans been wanting
For me probably the best album they ever made (time line wise) after AJFA, together with the Black Album. It was literally AGES i listened a 'tallica album without wanting to skip ANY song.
I disagree. 72S is more consistent, but in the "average" range. Hardwired had some downers (manunkind, murder one) but also had some memorable songs (spit out the bone being the obvious example) and you could actually tell songs apart. On its own, it's a good album, but in the context of metallica's discography it's pretty much a game of "which of their other songs is this riff from?" Maybe it'll grow with a few more listens, but it's obvious that metallica are completely out of ideas and I wish they would rip off modern bands like gojira, mastodon, opeth rather than themselves.
Love it… better than Hardwired and i love that album… but they have 3 fillers, sleepwalk my life away, You must burn and crown of barbwired. Rest i songs is crem de la creme 🤘🤘🤘
About as boring and uninspired as any Metallica album in the last 20 years. And no that actually would not include Load and ReLoad which I liked. But then everyone was like, you have to make it sound like 1986 again. And that just doesn’t work.

I am 53, been listening to all types of Metal since I was 10. Still have my original press of Kill Em All on cassette. Bottom line is like most of their music since Load came out this is sub par and that's being kind.
I often think that I have heard many of these songs before. Or this song sounds so much like (insert songs name) with the words changed. It's ok for Metallica, but not great.

More consistent, yes. More diverse, absolutely not.
Love your opinions man. Keep up!
Loved the opening of this video. So much truth…lol! Great video.
Brilliant album couldn't be happier !!!!Absolutely brutal riffage and the best vocal performance from James to date. Also Lars kicks ass on this record
I think his vocals were better in hardwired. Halo on fire and spit out the bone being the highlights.
The drumming is the weakest part of this record by far. Not complex or diverse enough
Favorite track: tough question but I really love You Must Burn!
🔥🤘🔥
At least it's better than all albums after Reload. At what place it will be among others, the time will show. For me right now it looks just great. Chasing Lights and Shadows Follow blew up my mind.
The album is brilliant a real mix of eras and Hetfields best overall vocal performance ever
Absolutely agree!
GREAT review bro! Take care of yourself man!!!!
Thanks Cody!
Lux Aeterna, Chasing Light, Too Far Gone, Room of Mirrors are absolutely BRILLIANT!!!
I totaly agree, best analyse i ve heard, thank you! ❤❤❤
I'm a bit mixed with this one. The songs grow on you for sure but somehow I feel like the album is pretty safe. It's still a good record and I'm loving the bright yellow sleeve
The 4th song ballad is dispensed with on this record. Hints that the formula would be shook-up were hinted early by the YELLOW color scheme.
Same as Hardwired
yellow color scheme is so butt ugly! Wtf were they thinking!? Stealing ideas from Stryper now? lol
Man this channel ROCKS!
@razerious8360 You seriously like St anger over this? I like it too but that's definitely different to hear lol
@@Alidonius6721 Well, that is certainly your opinion. I mean, it is not the correct opinion, but still yours nonetheless.
It's a great album. Happy Easter to you and your family
Thank you!
I think the Album is Superb - its very METALLICA! - Thy wear their influences and even their 'own' stuff seems to influence them as there is a lot of familiarity with their riffs - but 'fresh' too...
I prefer it to Hard-Wired...
Is that intro riff to this video Creepmime "The Fruits of Ill Virtue"?
Because it's identical!

No, that's some random free stock song I found years ago actually haha
@@MetalPilgrim
Thanks. Crazy. Same tempo, key, feel and even the tone is very close.
Their best and most cohesive since the Black Album.
How can it be their most cohesive without any standout singles ?
Where is moth into flame, where is hardwired? Where is now that we’re dead ?
There’s nothing worth coming back to on this record. All the songs are mediocre.
@@Janjibro66 Yeah well you know that's just like your opinion man.
@@Janjibro66 Crown of Barbed Wire, You Must Burn, Sleepwalk, and Too Far Gone are all better than either of the songs you mentioned
@@facelessandnameless I like both albums equally.
Why argue over this is better then then that. Jesus Christ
It’s better then ANYTHING else out there being made today. Damn just enjoy it.
@@joshd3192 Hardwired had at least 10 good songs. But 72 seasons just 5 good songs. So, it is the their worst effort after st anger, load and reload. Hetfield struggles to sing in sync with rhythm of at least 5 songs
Which is better? The sick, the dying & the dead or 72 seasons?
This album is awesome. I’m happy to have the chance to still get new music from my favorite band.
If James&Co were a bit funnier and a lot more talented they would be on the same level as my favorite guys from Steel Panther ...
Well, I haven't listened to the whole album so far, only the singles and some tracks of the second half,
but at the moment I can't get into the album right now.
Good video and yeah I think that the title track of Hardwired would have been considered an all time classic by them too had it been written in the 80s ( and yeah I`ve been there since Kill `em all in `83 )
Chasing light is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Compliments. A very precise and competent description. May everybody build him-/ herself some self-opinion. It´s a killer album.
This is the most accurate review of the album
The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead! Is a much better album. I had to relisten to Lux AEterna. No it's not a drum track.
The best song was probably either chasing lights or Inamorata. Both kick ass songs!!! I give the album a 7.5/10. 🤘
My thoughts, without knowing how to say it yet,I would choose hardwired over this anyday.
Nice video . Did you encounter any copyright issues ?
Yeah, if someone is all in with thrash Metallica, they won't like this album too much. It really encompasses their whole career and influences.
Mature huh …. As opposed to the immature band ?
Condescending hypocrites is what they are …… 2 clowns in this band just like KISS ……

It is a big pleausure to watch you on both, English and Ukrainian, languages. Greetings from Ivano-Frankivsk!
Thank you, brother!

Shadows Follow would totally fit either on DM or Justice (hearing a video on it with that albums mixing was actually insane)
You kinda say what I said to my son. I said " it sounds nothing like they did before, yet sounds exactly like a Metallica album, somehow"
I love it.
Great review! I like it as much as Ride The Lightning.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
But hey, we always love Metallica. Been listening myself since MoP was new.
Haven’t heard the Overkill one yet. Will listen to it over the weekend though!
It's true that Overkill have maintained their creativity, compared to Metallica, but Overkill put out albums much more frequently, so that's probably why. The same with Megadeth and Testament and all the other bands that regularly release albums.
@@MetalPilgrim - You won’t regret it! Enjoy and stay safe.
I agree that the Overkill album is better. Not really great either.
I see so many references to Black Sabbath, Motorhead and Alice In Chains!
That riff in "too far gone" is from "suck my love" by diamond head
It's Load Reload modernized with Hardwired sound with Black Sabbath among other influences
Here's a list with modern thrash songs:
Havok - Root of Evil
HeXeN - Knee Deep in the Dead
Warbringer - Remain Violent
Power Trip - Executioner's Tax
Traitor - 66 Exeter Street
Blackened Thrash:
Lucifuge - Black Battalions
High Command - Fortified by Bloodshed
Ketzer - Warlust
Inculter - Impending Doom
Witchtrap - Powerof the Maul
Blackened Tech Thrash:
Cryptosis - Transcendence
Vektor - Pteropticon
Revocation - The Grip Tightens
Paranorm - Critical Mass
All I can say is, thank the metal gods for the first four Metallica albums! A great album for Modern era Metallica!
The 72 Seasons song sounds like it was left off of Hardwired. It has that feel to it that that album had. I haven't heard the rest though. I don't know if the whole album has that feel.
I have that same "Metallica and Philosophy" book on my bookshelf as well. 😁🤘
Nice! It's a fun one
Fr, how do you even analyze all the songs, albums and just bands that you analyze? I can't come much further than "Oh, this has lots of energy, I like this. This one lacks the punch I'm looking for, it's not really doing it for me"
Often when I find songs that I think are ok, but nothing more than that I usually try to things that I'd add or change to make the song more to my liking (I'm a musician myself, so I can figure out some nice things that I think would improve the song in question to my personal liking without changing what the song is (if that makes any sense)), but so far there's nothing I'd change on any songs on the album
Also, heads up: Burning Witches is releasing a new album on the 5th of May (ngl, the 2 released singles sound VERY promising as they contain loads of energy and oldschool vibes) and Primal Fear has announced to release a new album on the 1st of September (and imo you can't really go wrong with Primal Fear); I think you should check and review those for us as well, but that's just my personal opinion (but maybe dig into their discography and history as well if that helps you understand them better?)
Thanks man! I actually did not announce it but I had Laura from Burning Witches for an interview last week! So I’ll make to release the episode with her next week!🤘
@@MetalPilgrim I'm most definitely looking forward to see that!
Oh yes brother! Spit Out the Bone is absolutely the best thrash song I've heard in the 2010's, no holds barred!
Dear youtuber, you're $urely gonna lov€ this record!
Bro it's not the longest. how can people forget about that banger called Mercyful Fate in garage inc. its 2 seconds longer than inamorata
I was on the fence, now the more I heard, I'm liking it.. kinda all over the place but in a good way.. Slava Ukraine

Can’t diss hardwired like that bro. It’s a great album
Oh I didn’t say that I didn’t like it! I just think this one is on another level and shouldn’t be compared to Hardwired, for good or for worse 😉🤘
You are telling me this crap is the best since The Black Album??? I am missing the point here because...WHAT???
WORD 👊🏻
Sleepwalk..... is the best track. The album is way way miles better than hardwired.....
I disagree
Uhhhhh
Totally agree!
I disagree. 72S is more consistent, but in the "average" range. Hardwired had some downers (manunkind, murder one) but also had some memorable songs (spit out the bone being the obvious example) and you could actually tell songs apart.
On its own, it's a good album, but in the context of metallica's discography it's pretty much a game of "which of their other songs is this riff from?"
Maybe it'll grow with a few more listens, but it's obvious that metallica are completely out of ideas and I wish they would rip off modern bands like gojira, mastodon, opeth rather than themselves.
Are you going to review the new Overkill?

"Crown..." would make a BADASS Carcass song if Carcass had done it. James... Bill Steer wants his riffs back! Dark and heavy for the Metallidudes. Like it. 🤘
This is good album, bu time will tell how I feel about it. Although Kirk is not writing solos anymore it feels like he is improvising them and record something in one take and fucks off.
The production value of this album is amazing … the bass is way up there which i love!
It’s a Great album I thought it sounded like it was from the Load/Reload era at first listen after listening to it a few more times It is a bit heavier than Reload and possibly Load maybe a bridge between The Black Album and Load ? I don’t know It has better production on It than DeathMagnetic and Hardwired so that is good. But I also feel that if your not filed into it that every track can sound the same.
Can't pick a favorite song when they are all my favorite songs on the album!🤘🤘🤘
