- The Grappler & Nord the Barbarian are fed up with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper & Portland radio disc jockey Bill Prescott trying to unmask the notorious Portland Wrestling heel!! This vintage recap of the memorable feud comes 04/29/89!!
I never saw Portland Wrestling, but this is really interesting seeing Roddy Piper in such great shape, and also the Berserker with such a serious look.

It’s a honor to be part of this group! I’m getting so much happiness (today in my fifties) out of watching the old Portland wrestling 🤼♂️ show’s (I watched on tv as a young kid)! Thanks for creating this incredible archive! I mentioned to Rowdy Piper at San Diego Comic Con (years ago) that some of his old Portland Wrestling Matches were on utube. I hope Piper checked them out! I’m almost finished with Piper’s biography written by his children. Colt and Ariel Toombs wrote that their father used to watch videos on the internet about Alien’s, Etc. I hope Piper watched some of our testosterone videos.

LP SHY Yeah, this is "89", if you look at him when he fought Bret Hart in "92", he had a six pack, best shape I ever saw him in!
I think the reason for his '89 stint in PNW was to get back into wrestling shape before returning to WWE as a wrestler. At that point in time, he was already doing some Piper's Pit skits in WWE (most notably the Morton Downey Jr. one at WrestleMania V just weeks before this scene).

When I was a disk jockey on KBAM in Longview, WA I interviewed the Grappler via telephone a few times prior to him and the Portland Wrestling group coming to our town for various shows. Had great fun both on air and at the matches. Wonderful memories.

Back in '89, I listened to a weekly wrestling show on WFAN radio. Jody McDonald was the host and Rich Mancuso, the wrestling insider. I remember Mancuso talking about a confrontation between Piper and John Nord. I always tried to look it up online, but found nothing. Mancuso spoke of it as if it was real. Seeing this 28 years later finally clears it up for me. Thank you.

I love the Grappler. Asshole heel. The Breakfast Club wifebeaters came from when they beat up Bryan Adams and dumped Cheerios and gallon milk containers on him.
Same thing with Taz. He took the "beat me if you can" quote from him.
Yeah Grapplers trained a lot of superstars you wouldn't believe the people he's trained over the years he's got his hands and just about every career there is in the professional wrestling business he truly has 1 wrestling in so many ways he's my absolute favorite of all time long live the grappler God bless you brother.

The funniest part is at the end when even Don Coss, the babyface announcers is scared of Piper and runs away. I guess he was getting the poke in the eyes Beetlejuice got last week.
