Ali (ra), Hassan(ra), and Husayn (ra) are all free from the exaggeration of the rafidha. May Allah have mercy on them and unite us with them along with Prophet Mohammed (saws) and the companions as a whole.

Jazak Allah Khayran Imam Tom for standing for the occasion and attempting to educate Muslims specifically the youth of their history. Many imams shy away from even mentioning Ashoraa so that they do not have to bring up the memory of Hussain and the tragedy that hit the ummah the consequences of which we continue to struggle with until today.

Sadly for many years Muslims have been forbidden from studying their own history by the kings who claimed to be khilafa when they were merely kings who ran dynasties. Sadly this imam took a little from here and a little from there to create his argument. Sahih books , Katheer, snd many other books are available for all these days so why so little research is done! So sad!!

    As Salamu Alaykum,
In my country, there are majlis where we learn about this part of history ever first 10 days of Muharram.
It was more than just transition from democratic election to dynasties.
If Yazid was a good Muslim, the companions would have accomodate him, but he had a number of vices that were simply incompatible with Islam.
Someone with his behaviours and penchants was not fitted to become the Caliphe of the Muslim Ummah, for he failed the test of the Islamic traits needed in a Islamic leader.
I think what made the Shi'a even more extreme in their claims was that for a number of years Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu Anhu and his family, the Ahle Bait were bring reviled from the pulpit of every Jumu'ah in Syria, under Marwan.
We are from tge Ahle Sunnah Wal Jama'at we neither fall in the extreme of the shi'ite nor the extreme of those who tortured and murdered the Ahle bai't, but rather tread on the middle path.
Today, many Wahabbi are saying that Yazid was a sahabi and a good Muslim, we refute that claim!

@@ahmed.aljelali Wahabbis are the followers of those biddati, fassiq Muhammad Abdul Wahhab, Ibn Baaz, Fawzan, and the fitnah-inducer clockmaker who created a lot of mess in the standardisation system of hadith to lure the ignorant and their own students of lies.
They will tell ignorants and converts that they are not mischief creators but are peacemakers.
They inspire movements like ISIS, etc..
No! They are NOT of the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jama'at, they are only claiming this now when they see people discovering their true colours, but they used to call themselves Tawhiid or Salafi, when in fact they are traitors who worked with the British empire and other colonisers to destroy the Ottoman Empire.
Their reality is exposed in Surah Baqarah and in Sahih Mutawwathir hadith from our Rassulullah Swalalahu Alayhi Was Salaam.

With all respect, I think using the word Rebellion, to describe Hussein's RA actions and the possible actions of Hassan's RA actions and Aisha's RA actions, is problematic. Did they give Baya'a before doing those actions? What was their intentions? I think we should be more careful when addressing the grandchildren and the wife of the prophet SAW.

Not at all. 2 years ago I gave an Ashura khutbah with much more detail about the events of that day. I had a different purpose with this khutbah, more of a birds-eye-view. All of my research is taken from the sahih hadith and Imam Al-Dhahabi's Siyar Alaam al-Nubalaa. Now, if it contradicts your preferred narrative of what happened, that's another story.

I give you the benefit of the doubt and your intentions are good my brother. But is it possible that we do not realize the import of what we say sometimes.
It is said Yazid poked the severed head of Imam Husain(ra) with a stick when it was presented to him. Let’s even say that narration is dubious. Is there any historical evidence that the generals or the soldier who killed the Ahl Bayt were punished in any way or form?
It is a well accepted fact that winners write and influence history. Could the Umayyad’s have influenced how Yazid and the events at Karbala unfolded are recorded.
Is it perceiveable that they may have manufactured Hadith in order to solidify their position?
It is also known that the Wahhabis in their hatred of Shias are big Umayyad supporters and unfortunately your source of knowledge is Madinah University. A petro dollar funded known disseminator of a fringe doctrine throughout the Muslim world. That is no fault of yours, it’s the most welcoming and accessible source and many bright young western converts are flocking there with their sincere desire to learn.

I think the evil that shias has followed is the same to the followers of jesus. They overpraised him to the extent of worshipping until the later generation completely considered him as god. Allah knows best
