Back in the day, the rule was: Stuff seen on screen is fully canon. Anything in print with the Paramount logo (for example, the TNG Technical Manual) is canon except for where it might contradict something on screen. Anything else (like the litverse novels) is beta canon. There were a few exceptions. The Voyager novels Mosaic and Pathways are as fully canon as anything on screen, and if the Achilles got the Paramount stamp of approval, then that brings it up to at least the level of things like the tech manuals.
The Achilles Class is HIGHLY underrated and I'd love to see more of it. In the hands of a crew like the Defiant crew, the Achilles could take on almost any foe!
“She’s a predator.” I remember modding her hard points back in the day to upgrade her to have pulse quantum launchers fore and aft (similar to the Sovereign mod), ablative armor on all 6 hull facets (fore, aft, starboard, port, dorsal and ventral); also fixed some of phaser arrays that had their banks aimed in odd angles. Finally improved the phalanx by increasing the damage of the micro quantums, increasing the firing arc to 180 degrees and increasing their pulse rate of fire.
Torpedoes should be able to launch from any launcher and align themselves with the target. They have engines after all and can maneuver. What I'm saying is, photon/quantum torps should be more like they are in The Expanse.
I think they fixed that problem in Star Trek Online. The refit of the Odyssey class has variable payload launchers so the same launcher can fire photons, quantums, and tricobalts 🖖
I love this channel, best on UA-cam! Achilles class needs a live action debut. I always imagined it leading a battlegroup of defiants into heavy conflicts during the dominion war! Punch through enemy lines!
Very cool, but 2 improvements are needed for practicality sake. 1) Why only on the topside? The developers of this model needed to make them over+under launchers. They can share ammo loadouts between them if needed, however for the sake of optimal shield balancing and tactics you can't constantly face the same sides towards the enemy. 2) Armor, armor, armor. A ship this combat focused doesn't have any armor?
😲I totally forgot about the Achilles Class.. dang.. I think the AI is always trying the Deanna maneuver.. lol. yes the ship is tough and like the style, never seen the Dominion game.. but read that the Achilles was built cause Starfleet nor the Klingons didn't want to lose the bigger ships cause of costs.. hmm thought in the future, no money.. hmm love the battle Captain.. and again love the ship and the weapons, and didn't it have pulse phasers.. hmm yes Cardassian's drank that. eeh.. and I thought 'Iw HIq, was bad.. again well done Captain;.. 😊🖖 *I found the recipe for Klingon blood wine, but no blood involved and looks good.. just saying.. !!🤔
Lol. Klingon wine is certainly a acquired taste. Smaller ships made sense i think, especially after rebuilding from the dominion war. I suppose the larger ships were quite big targets as well. That makes sense what you said about the losses 🖖
Nice Showcase!😅 Did want to ask, there are a number of Achilles Class mods for BC, which one was this? One of my faves is TiqHuds mod (the Region 3 release)😅
The Achilles, just like the Defiant, is supposed to fly close and fast to the target to deal damage and minimize its chances of getting hit. It's just like how the Defiant defeated the Negh Var - fly up close and personal. If you can't fly the ship without colliding, I suppose playing around with the torpedoes is your best bet.
How powerful are micro quantums compared to regular full size photons? Guessing micro quantums have a smaller warhead so would that equate to about same power as a standard photon?
That was another issue with it...A lot of people struggled getting it running. It ran fine on windows 98, but wouldn't run on XP. Yet it was released when XP was out. Didn't make any sense. I think it was a rushed game.. If only Activision could gave made it.
The Hutet seems to be extremely underpowered and undergunned compared to the lore around her.She was spec'd to be a "Galaxy Killer" Her forward array of 6 Heavy Spiral Wave Disruptors were said to be able to one shot Galaxy Class ships.
Actually, only stuff on the official TV shows and movies is canon. 🤓 Though since Discovery I don't care much anymore. At least on this channel, there's a lot of the old and good timelines.
@MSR-1701 I seem to remember the developers or whoever saying the ship was approved by paramount or someone involved in trek. It's also featured in a star trek novel.. That's a shame if it isn't canon. Explains why we didn't see it in Picard 😂
@@RetroBadgerGaming it was Approved by Paramout to feature in a video game, sadly that does not equate to being Canon... ...were that the case, a LOT o awesome designs would be Canon (looks at Vesta...)
One thing I never understood about star trek was how their Torpedo's seemed to not have any tracking or way of locking on to a target, given all the technology they hsve it seems like an unrealistic design.
Ah, Dominion Wars. If you ever find it difficult, select an enemy ship and hit "delete" in order to damage it. Seriously. That's a thing. That game really needed some more beta testing.
I thought RBG was going to fight not be a target??? Wonder if he can chew gum quietly, talk to someone, drive a car (not hit anything or hurt someone) , smoke a cigar, drink Coffee or a Coca Cola all at the same time and still win a battle... or can he just showboat and showoff for a crowd like LeBron in NBA.... verdict is a showoff...
Yeah, sorry. This game doesn't portray the six heavy spiral wave disruptors as it was designed to have. So between the inaccurate portrayal of this ship and another one who posted a vid of the hutet being defeated by the Excalibur the designers of commander got the amount of firepower wrong so no, don't think your ship would have fared as well.
Yeah, that Hutet mod is awful. Zero power, fires one beam at a time. No reason for a ship that big to be so toothless. The newer Hutet mods are much better.

WOW that was totally AMAZING the micro quantum torpedoes R really cool the Achilles class is a really cool looking Starship
That is a really nice looking ship

It's left over from TOS where Gene imagined space battles based on submarine warfare.

Great video! I really like the Achilles class. Wish it could launch more torpedoes in the vein of the Akira class and had side pulse phaser cannons 🖖

This is an interesting class for sure. I actually dig it.
I couldn't help but laugh when you accidentally rammed into them and blew up lol.

Thanks. It's the R3 one. I prefer it to the standard kobayashimaru one as it actually fires the quantums from the top.

One of my favorite scenes in all DS9.

Changing the phalanx to a pulse script will make it function more canon; so the micro quantum’s aren’t all fired simultaneously.
Tough little ship.
I wonder why this version and the one from Dominion Wars and Legacy UU look so different.
dominion wars was a great game!!!
I was so disapointed. I could never get Dominion War to run on my computer no matter what I did.

This ship (along with the typoon and the premonition) has just been added to STO, my Achilles class is an absolute BEAST of a ship
Love your videos.

Love the design but would change the nacelles
A quick question Where can i get these ships from? and how do i put them into the game?

What was the name of that game the Achilles is from?
Star trek dominion wars.
This is cannon? That is the greatest non paramount addition to cannon ever next to the new STO ships in picard
Sadly, the Achilles is still non-Canon, like the Vesta, the Century Class and the original Shangri-La Class.

You cut really important scenes in this one. Like literally the best action vs just talking. No offense.
I don't like this ship. Micro quantum torpedoes are nice, but the shields are too weak for my taste. Overall hull shape is also meh.
