Jim is the greatest. I know him from 1982. We do miss him. I hope he is retired now. Some times I use to worry about his voice. Thank God his voice remains the same. God bless you Jim
Ah, I'm so glad I found this. What a great interview and what a nice fella Jim is. I loved the Grand National trilogy of Peter O'Sullivan, John Hanmer and Jim McGrath who did every GN together between 1993 and 1997. Best line up ever. Great to see he is still doing well and involved in racing.
My parents used to sit me on my wooden rocking horse in front of the TV and I'd ride all the races ! When I got on a real thoroughbred at 5, I was a natural !
it was either Jim or alistair down who said that line - 'he's jumped further left than trotsky' - lol
Great to hear Jim talking frankly about his career. Yes, Sea The Stars' Arc triumph is, for me, Jim McGrath's finest commentary.
yes indeed and what he said about the Sea the Star it's too long for me to say but I still remember it
His description of Sea The Stars was something like 'Perfection in equine form. The horse of a lifetime'
yes amazing right @@keithf_
Great voice. I remember him commentating on Grandstand on BBC
same we will never get the chance to see Jim McGrath Meeting Jim McGrath
top man with that occasional dry aussie wit in his commentary - he left too soon
Osullivan and him , the best ever
Should have stayed on too young to retire brilliant commentator
O'Sullivan picked you to take over, misled Julian Wilson.
Get a job
could never stand the sound of this bloke commentating
Hes a paddy. You amadan
