Thai Airways is a good airline for any European traveller. Their staff are nice and courteous towards European passengers. It is not the same practice toward Asian passengers. A lot of Thai expats fly with EVA instead. Unfortunately, these days EVA also have many Thai staff serving. Thai Airways' policy is to bring Foreign visitors, in that they mean Europeans, into Thailand in comfort. Hopefully they will spend a lot of money while they are in Thailand.

Thai Airways has financial backing from the Thai government whenever they are in trouble and they were, few times in the past because of their policy. Any business that chooses their customers, do that at their own peril. Their Thai passengers are usually the people who need to use Thai language to communicate. Thai websites have plenty of these complaints but to be fair because of all these Thai Airways have improved somewhat but still there are differences in the way European and Thai or Asian passengers are treated. Most European passengers are like you, they love it, of course.
As a Thai student in the UK, I can confirm this is true. They price their tickets to Thailand cheaper than from Thailand (outbound) so I paid £600 when somebody else paid £1200 for the same flights, and the other person was in Thailand. They don’t treat you as differently though, I prefer to fly Thai over Eva or British as 1. I have ROP gold with them. 2. I’ve had a bad experience with both British and Eva. 3. I like to talk to the cabin crew during the flight, and Thai is good as I feel comfortable talking to the flight attendants. In my experience older flight attendants are generally more fun to talk to.

You actually can't see the curvature of the earth from the cruising altitude of commercial airliners. What you saw was the lens distortion from the tail camera.
A first class return flight from Singapore via Bangkok to Paris, for two people is significantly cheaper than the closest competitor, $17,000 total cost, that 4 to 5 thousand cheaper than Singapore airlines, is Thai service comparable to Singapore’s, just the same or better than Singapore’s for less cost, Thai people are warm and friendly.
My Trips Even though Singapore’s Service is top notch, it can be just a little bit snobby, where as Thai Royal first staff are just have that warmth about them, which I think is more cultural than anything else. That’s nothing bad on Singapore airlines first class crew what’s so ever.

Thanks Sami, they made a change for 2-3 weeks in March due to maintenance issues and put the A380 on the day flight (B777 in the night). They had to change my flight due to this reason since the B777 doesn’t have a First Class cabin
@@kiwimjr Yes I'm sick of their obsession with night time flights as well as their strange obsession with flying only out of Bangkok when there is plenty of demand for Phuket, U-Tapao (Pattaya) and even Chiang Mai. Just look how many foreign (and other Thai airlines such as Air Asia) fly to these cities, but THAI offers only a small number of flights ex Phuket and nothing international out of these other two cities. Most European airlines flying to Bangkok have changed their schedules to leave Europe in the early evening, arriving in Bangkok mid-morning then flying back to Europe (London, Zurich, etc.) around lunchtime BKK time for a late afternoon/early evening arrival back home. In doing so, they are actually also reducing costs, rather than leaving their aircraft sitting idle in Bangkok for 16-18 hours as was the case previously.
@@kiwimjr I don't care what time of day or night it is, I demand the same level of service irrespective of the time of day as there are no discounts for flying at night compared to day time flying and a full service carrier is required to offer meals and other service the same for a night time flight as for a day time flight. THAI indeed does this. You may be right that there may be fewer requests for champagne etc. on a night time flight but not necessarily - even on long haul daytime flights such as BKK-SYD, during the cruise phase of the flight starting 2 hours into the flight until 2 hours before landing (a total of 4-4.5 hours) the cabin lights are turned off, cabin crew retire to their bunks for some shut eye and they request you close the window shutters (Singapore Airlines has no such requirement) unless it's a THAI B787 aircraft, in which case you don't have physical window shutters and the lights are dimmed to create darkness inside the cabin although you can still see outside the windows.
@@kiwimjr I've never had a problem using THAI award miles. They are far easier to spend than Singapore Airlines or QANTAS miles, the latter are the biggest scam - so many blackout dates, they force you onto Jetstar when they can and you can never really use the miles.

lucky you, I paid £4700 for it. I dont have airmiles with Thai airways, but I have 450,000 with Virgin Atlantic but can never get a First class flight anywhere using them.
Hello, I had my miles with Aegean Airlines but Thai and Aegean are in the Star Alliance group. I must admit I was trying to get first class with Singapore but as with Virgin it was impossible. So I booked with Thai and I am glad I did because it was a fantastic flight!
Hehe you’re right but I already had breakfast in business class in my previous flight and I knew what was coming up on the plane, I just wanted to keep space in my stomach!

I like that policy. I think it's intrusive to film people at work like that unless they give their permission. I wouldn't like it. I saw onee guys review and he had a complete meltown because the very polite staff weren't comfortable with his filming their every move as if it were his right and they didn't get t have an opinion about it.
Exactly, these people are working and the review is not about them mainly. Usually I comment on their friendliness and performance but that’s it. I wouldn’t like to be filmed if I were them
Loved this trip report..as always, great cam and narrative. I took this flight 10 years ago and I am amazed how little has changed. The 1 hour massage is the best part of the Thai product. The lounge..well..still the same cotton seat covers like 10 years ago..never liked them..there should be some decent leather seats. And the cabin? Nothing to the old stylish F in their 747 (have a look at my old BKK-FRA video, if you care). I have not flown this product, but from all I see I dont like this cabin..it looks very "plasticy" to me. Neither fish nor meat, as we say..not private, not open..just a Business Class cabin with a 3rd window. Best part for me in your flight was food (had the same eternal Thermidor 10 years ago)..I can imagine that you could hardly breethe, hehe. Wines seemed ok, although not as exceptional as you would find in an EK wine cellar. Again, excellent video, thank you very much for sharing!!!

The A380 is indeed massive, like a miracle that it flies!
