Samurai Pizza Cats intro

Since I often see replies regarding who sings the song, it is NOT Fred Schneider of the B-52s. The singer is Pizza Cats writer Michael Airington who did an imitation of comedian Paul Lynde while drunk.
If you like the English dub, why not check out the original Japanese version of the intro. Uploaded by TwinkleBerryZ here • Kyattou Ninden Teyande...
Due to UA-cam's new policy of listing whether a video or channel is suitable for children I just noticed this video was changed to "made for kids" which disabled the comments. I have just changed it back. What disturbs me most is they say once a video is set like this all comments will be deleted within 30 days. If I didn't notice this we would have lost 13 years worth of comments.
Well done dude
Well done man!
You sir, have saved history. I wish to thank you on behalf of humanity.
They did this to many videos it really sucks
Not all hero's wear capes.
I used to wonder if this show was a figment of my childhood imagination I guess it was real
same! Its embedded deep in my memories
Ditto
Same for me... The memories lives in a very unusual part of my mind... Almost touching the dreams section lol... So weird
Oh! It’s real baby!
Man I miss the old days of 3 hours of Saturday morning kids tv.
My brother still doesn't believe that this show existed 😂😂😂
"They got more fur then a turtle ever had"
TMNT DISS!
throwing shade at the turtles
The Biker Mice also do it in their first episode.

This was my introduction to anime as a child. I broke down laughing at the idea that in the original Japanese it was basically boring. Then I learned that the translators just decided to have a blast. Amazing things can come from just a little creativity with something preexisting.
Actually the dub company did not have a script and the translated ones back then were either poor or too few, so the dubbing staff decided to ad-lib (one part of the song says "As someone find the script we might begin the show")
Hence the line "As soon as someone finds the script, we might begin the show".
1:05 - “The Big Cheese is a villain, whose lower than low. It’s a rotten shame, he lives in Little Tokyo. We got a nasty bad bird and some nasty ninja crows. As soon as someone finds a script, we might begin the show.”
That's Shakespeare right there.
Fun fact: This was sung buy the voice of the antagonist...
While drunk.
The More You Know
Back when anime was still pretty obscure over here
+KLAY the Cartoonist i know was i fist saw id din't even know it was anime
It's true. I'm from Canada.
Where you from.. Japan?
And people didn't get their panties in a bunch if the English dub wasn't 100% fateful to the original... Good times.
+KLAY the Cartoonist Maybe for you if you were really young at the time but anime has been on TV in North America since the 80's if not earlier. Sure it might have been the occasional thing, not like now, but it was hardly obscure.
You took a look at it and you knew it was Japanese.
That's what made it good.
Between all the writing, the changes they had to make and that sometimes they didn't even HAVE a script for the episodes, you could say this is an original Abridged series. One of the best shows I grew up watching.
I'll be remastering this series using ai :) hopefully it'll turn out awesome
I used to watch this show a lot as a kid back when it aired on YTV.
Watching the intro years later as an adult, I can't help but laugh at the ridiculous lyrics of this song. X'D
I just started watching this show on Amazon prime video.
@@nickcooper7714 yikes
"As soon as someone finds the script we might begin the show."
The original abridged series!
And not through choice either, they didn't get any of the scripts for the original show AT ALL (normally at that time for any foreign animation you'd get a cliff-notes plot summary of each episode to aid the dubbing but they didn't even get that here) so they had to just kind of wing it by what was happening on the screen.
luketfer Well that and the original show was almost too ingrained n Japanese culture to localize/have Americans understand, so they just went "Eh, let's write our own stuff Americans WILL get." Ether way, the original creators much prefer Pizza Cats over their show.
luketfer that and the singer was drunk when he had to do the theme song, this show is made of legends of production screws up and we love it
Faust Girl
Yeah you wouldn't get that kind of thing today with the slick production values. No scripts forcing Voice Actors to improv, drunken singer, all adds to the charm of the series and as Brianna Johnson above mentions, the original shows creators love it as much as we do.
luketfer oh really ?i don't see any japanese or creators say that. where source ?
This has the be the best Americanized theme song to a Japanese anime ever.
SAMURAI+PIZZA+CATS=WHY ISN'T THIS THE MOST POPULAR SHOW OF ALL TIME?
This show managed to cram my three favorite things into one series...
170 dislikers are, Ninja Hamburger Dogs.
SOHGuy lol
ninja hot dog dogs
Or it could be The Nasty Ninja Crows.
Hahahahahabababbaha
I was like "hmm ninja hamburger dogs why haven't i heard of them"? then it took me about 10 seconds to get what you meant LOL
What I like about this show is that the concept is so stupid, that the characters know it is.
+Van Oscuro And they CONSTANTLY abuse the heck out of the 4th wall, lol!
Yes, and it is glorious!
Biker mice from Mars, Street Sharks and Samurai Pizza cats three best 90's shows ever.
As a kid from 87, I'm not ashamed to admit that even after not having seen any of this for 15 years I still totally remember half of this show, and it kicked ass.
This was the first UA-cam video I ever watched.
What's the supposed to mean?
Wow your old!
...the singer was drunk off his ass when he recorded this. he sounds like Paul Lynde. lol.
too bad noone remembers paul lynde.
Actually, I thought it sounded just like Paul Lynde as well. I remember him because he provided the voice for Templeton the Rat in the Hanna-Barbara production of Charlotte's Web. That, and Opie and Anthony would do bits about how gay he was.
I do. Ough mai gudness.
It was intentional, and extremely well done.
Seth MacFarlane does. He based Roger from American Dad's voice on him.
Paul Lynde was dope lol. For a hot second I thought this was Rip Taylor tho
Voicing the villain as Paul Lynde was an INSPIRED idea.
Loved this as a kid, though it's clear the English dub hammed this up a lot compared to the original Japanese version.
They actually didn't have the Japanese script.
Yup, so they just came up with their own shit xD
My understanding is they requested a script and the creators of the show told them to do what they wanted and have fun.
and made it better.
Samurai pizza cats
I sure did watch this before school. Cute little show.
I did too😝✋🏼
brings back memories of my childhood.
my favorite part was alway when they armored up and GOT SHOT OUT A FRIGGIN GUN!!!!
A friggin gun built into the tower of a pizza restaurant. What pizza place has a TOWER?
I can't believe this is real. I really thought little Kuriboh was just making up funny shit to be funny.
I hope his reference attracts more attention..
Your age is showing.
Well Little Kuriboh and TFS are annoying obnoxious people. Atleast this was dubbed so now they cant dub it either way and profit of from an already made show. But this show is cool
When an abridged series references an obscure show or movie that doesn't seem real, odds are,it is. See also: DBZ Abridged and the scene of Vegeta naming off all the action shows after Goku asks him what the Ginyu Force is like.
Oh. It is real.
CE!
What?
grew up watching this. thanks for posting
Heathcliff,Ronin warriors and TMNT all rolled in one
more like Meowth from Pokemon and Ronin warriors and TMNT
Telekids on sunday morning( for dutch people) nostalgia
Jaa :D
En Jetix ook!
TheDutchie6661 Echt man. Gelukkig dat youtube bestaat. Anders had ik die oude programma’s nooit terug gezien.
De intro’s zijn heel leuk. Merk wel dat ik de verhalen niet meer zo leuk vind
Cartoon express was zondag. Telekids zaterdag.
@0:38 that was a cheap shot at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lol
not factually incorrect, though!
"An entire city block is flatten of a blink of an eye, including the retirement home for aging "ninja turtles."" - Narrator.
"COWABUNGA"
I remember watching this on YTV during the early 90s. It was a lot of fun, and very comedic too.
Fun fact: They didn't get the original script for this anime, so they just change it.
I remember the writing was always 4th wall acknowledgment, Like they would speak one to one with the narrator, which was the only bad thing about this cartoon.
The white suit is definitely homage to the Ronin Warriors.
loved this show "Will someone please cue that bird"
Oh god, I can't believe I finally found this. I remembered watching a show after Sailormoon when I was a kid, and this was it! I even remember the theme song, haha!
They'd run that same block out here before school most mornings.
Hahaha, I remember this intro almost perfectly! I liked this show around 20 years ago (I'm from the Netherlands and apparently Samurai Pizza Cats was even shown here A LOT, cuz I remember seeing it almost every day!)
Anyone anyone else want a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Samurai Pizza Cats crossover? Just me? Okay.
Id be down for that!
Phoebe Henderson FUCK YEAH!!!
Phoebe Henderson That's genius!
Phoebe Henderson tmnt/samurai pizza cat/Usagi Yojimbo(who happened to appear in tmnt and have a solo series) and while I'm at it Bucky o' hare
so there is a kind of theme, they have enough common elements to make it work
+Phoebe Henderson How bout Dragon Slaying Knights Dogs?....Yeah I know i'm just making this up XD
Saturday morning memories. I remember this on YTV at 10 am.
Omg, I forgot that I used to watch this when I was little. Haha thanks for making me remember again! True story that all the cartoons from 80's en 90's are better then what we have now.
I watched the first anime and then I drew it all the time, when I was little baby.
oooh..my gosh..even the voice lyric guy for this show finds this show ridiculous..giggles as he sings this.
Yeah, so ridiculous, he had to get drunk to even sing this song.
Its been years since I seen this show.... brings back great memories... thank you
I love clicking random thumbnails, tumbling down the UA-cam rabbit-hole. You find the weirdest, random stuff like this!
Samurai Pizza cats is an English dub of the anime Kyatto Ninden Teyandee.
You can see the Japanese intro here watch?v=tvzTU5vF_lM
Right up there with Biker Mice From Mars for an implausible premise. But strangely fun
Stronger than dirt?
Man, that's an old reference. I loved this show.
Great upload. Brings me back to my childhood.
0:39 They're not even trying to hide it...
xodiach hide what
@@TheAptiva88 the TMNT diss
The things that went over my head as a kid in this show, ROFL! This show is so nuts and just doesn't give a crap. A nice watch when you want a light mood late at night XD Oh and it's on crunchyroll now. Smart, smart people.
Thank you for posting this! childhood memories flooding back
Yes his name is Big Al Dente. He's head of the palace guard and calls up the Pizza Cats to assign them missions.
what ever they are.... MAKE ME A PIZZA!!!!!
20 years ago this month this premiered on the WB11. Time flies.
Best Paul Lynd imitation bar none. Kudos.
This is such a weird concept whoever came up with this I love you.
two of my favorites things in anime/cartoons: mechas and furries
My grandma's cat is named Yoshi, so we call her Samurai Kitty.
I remember staying up 2am just to watch this on Teletoon.
KingVDT519 me too. This show always made me laugh my ass off back then. Good times
use to watch this every morning before school lol
YES.. IT WAS ME.. and i was higher then a kite. IT WAS the 80's ya know! Subscribe to my channel too. I also play the voice of the Mirror on THE SUITE LIFE ON DECK as the same voice
Only now that I'm 30 do I realize how badly "Samurai Pizza Cats" sounds like "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
Yeah... it got that sort of vibe BUT they are still different..
I mean, they say in the song "More fun that a turtle ever had". They knew what they sounded like.
Still remember watching this every morning as a kid before going to school in 1992
I love this. Used to love it as a kid and I bet if I watched it all over again I'd be damned well a fan again hahaha. Found it after so many years.
0:40 a jab at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Speedy Cervichi's the Leader of the gang. How about a glass of orange-flavored Tang?
It's SERVICE! That's why it's appropriate , and funny!
Loved this so much
A lot of memories...one of my favorite shows !
Did TV Studios in the 1980s have a "title combine" for developing new kids shows? Insert animal here, insert random noun here, insert adjective here. Boom! A new show for the kids. Let's try this....
Moose....door.....wild.....genius! "Wild Door Moose"
Biker Mice from Mars
These days, you can use title generators online. How times have changed.
I loved this alot as a kid. Thinking about it now, didn't this show have alot of adult references. Or something like that
Samurai Pizza Cats and the original Dragon Ball were what originally got me into anime back in the 90's.
Imagining dude in the booth singing this track.
Very politically relevant, deep, meaningful show.
Pizza Cats is now a reality. Google search Adweek Pizza Cat for the article.
and check out their vids watch?v=No7xzD80un0
how do you get people to eat your pizza?? put cute cats in cosplay selling the pizza
(horrible image for me, im a cat owner and i know the amount of hair cat leave every day, just imagen that on your pizza ugh..)
There's a fur ball on my pizza...
+gekkokkid oh its you gekkokid
i miss this show.
Awesome.
This still my favorite cartoon and I'm 28. Love coming after school to watch this when I was younger. Loved how it was dubbed to spoof itself!
This reminds me of the DK Rap for some reason. At numerous points.
Now I know why Arin is like that.
I remember this aired on tv at like 3am or something, right at a time a had a very hard time sleeping, and I missed school frequently bc I couldn't wake up. That happened around 97-98. I'm surprised I can still remember the opening theme.
I used to watch this everyday after school!
The reason furries exist, specifically of the neko- variant.
I never noticed that they spelled it "Samuri" Pizza Cats... Yowza...
Maybe the "I" is left there by itself (with the eye) as some kind of pun?
They did that on purpose.
The Blue Shell Oh I see, it's so obvious now.
Samuri? Or maybe it's Sam-mur-eye.
Loved this show as a kid..
Bring it back 2015
I remember seeing Samurai Pizza Cats back around fall '93 to '94 as a segment as part of Mad Scientist Toon Club, and as part of the syndicated Saban Block from '96 to '97.
best anime dub
The British dub for Urusei Yatsura is also great.
Mofoe2001
Goldenboy? Personally I think the main character's voice was a bit over exaggerated but as for everyone else, they're pretty much fine.
if we look at the actual japanese plot of this anime...not even close...
ping pong club
J Smith
Oh boy... *that* anime. :3 I can never take ping pong seriously ever again.
Literally no one:
Not even America:
Japan: *SaMuRaI PizzA CaTz*
I think you have that reversed.
Except that's not the case in the slightest.
i love they made the dub as over the top as ever
this is amazing and i havent even seen it
Game Grumps brought me here.
Mittsies?
Desgax Probably
This show had the best hero transportation ever.... LETS FIRE OURSELVES OUT OF A GIANT CANNON TO GET TO THE CRIME SCENE!
The moment the intro started I remembered the lyrics to it like it was nothing. And I haven't seen this show since I was a kid. Loved this show growing up.
Is it just me or does the narrator to the opening sound like Paul Lynde?
+Andrew Todaro That's what he was going for. He got a bit tipsy before recording it, though. That may explain all the laughing hehe
I've never seen this show...............................but I don't think I want to
give it a try first
Yes you do. Trust me. Actually, you know what, I'm not giving you the option. You will watch every single episode and you will become enlightened by them.
***** And I bet your "channel" really sets the standard "nowadays".
The show has been announced for a dvd release! I can't wait!
I first saw this in the summer of 97. After my freshman year of high school.
The singer is Chris Chan.
i remember wathcing this show before going to school. This use to cheer me up before I got depressed and went to school. :(
When everyone goes on those nostalgia trips of being a "90's kid", why does this show never come up. I remembered the words mostly from when I was around 6-8 years old. This show was the shit
used to watch this on ytv back in the days
