How to install an automatic bilge pump. I created a way to put a "mobile" bilge pump into my jon boat that I can remove when I store the boat on its side in my garage. Use the same basic procedure to wire up a bilge with a switch.
When I first got my "new" Bass Tracker on the water, it did not have a working bilge pump and I almost sank her. Not clickbait, it really happened and it was really funny. Here is the link:

Dude!
What's all that crap on your boats rivets?
Set your boat up on saw horses, lay a sledge hammer on the rivets on the top side, then simply tap the rivets on the bottom side with a regular hammer.
You can get solid aluminum rivets from granger to add or replace them.
It's really easy!

@@ThatShinerGuy did anyone notice that the pump was pulled out of the bucket before any kind of float would have shut the pump off?

@@timothyclingerman5430 yes, the float only engages the pump when the water level gets too high, shuts off automatically.

I got a "new to me" 1988 Basstracker last year. The bilge pump didn't work and I put the drain plug in the wrong hole. What a disaster!! Fixed that problem!!

couldnt you put the flathead screws on the bottom and the nuts on the inside to make a more flush contact ?

I just flipped the screws over. I think you are right, the flat plate will be almost flush with the boat floor now. Thanks!!

What did you do to the wire that was suppose to go to the switch? Bought the same pump and planning on the same setup.

I insulated the wire I am not using with Liquid Tape.

Its a very cheap setup. Old jon boat with a trolling motor. No outboard.
