Little tip for you, cover every connection with white grease, it will last 10 years longer. Switches, fuse boxes battery's terminals, you can thank me later
Just purchased a Seaflo bilge pump for an 18 ft used Wellcraft fish boat. Two wires come off the negative post. Where specifically do both go? One, i think, directly to the battery. The other? Thanks. Great videos!
@@AirbornePirates Yes, 2 live wires, one negative on the pump. I thought i needed 2 negatives from the switch, 1 to the battery, one to the negative bus terminal. So, the negative on the switch will go to the battery, correct? Thanks, by the way I have completely re-wired a 1989, 18 ft Wellcraft with a 130 hp, I purchased for my grandson using your videos as my "teacher."
I bought my first boat a few months ago and am giving it a 100% rewire and instrument overhaul. I bought a similar bilge pump switch but am installing it behind the wheel so I can see if the pump starts operating when I'm out on the water. I don't know what the rubber bump is for and i see there is one on your switch too. I'm going out to look at it again...maybe it's a fuse. No instructions came with my switch.
@@ryananthony6416 I'm running all my switches through a fuse-block and will definitely fuse per pump manufacturer. Glad you pointed that out, I hadn't noticed.
Thanks again for the new video and doing a great job with the explaining everything. Are you installing a second battery ? If so how do you split the charge so both batteries are being charged from the engine and also the solar panel ? Cheers Bob
@@AirbornePirates That looks good thanks. I am thinking of the trying to buy a Warrior 170 or a 165 so will be interested when you get out on the water and see what you think of the 165 in waves.
@@robertpaterson7311 from the research I have done they are very respected in british coastal waters even with a bit of swell, I'll be sure to put mine to the test :) Good luck finding yourself a nice boat, good times ahead
Hi I've just bought the same bilge pump as in your video, quick question I have the same wires obviously but I wanted to know did you run the additional small section of black wire yourself from the pumps main wire to get you to the battery? Only asking as my black wire doesn't have the additional small piece attached.
That's great to hear, I took the plunge so see what happens! Also I got 8 gauge silicone copper wire and 12 gauge, the 8awg seems really light for a battery cable what size battery did you use? Thanks dude
@@AirbornePirates plenty of space there right now, I don't think folk are bothering this year for some reason. Also, I'm fully expecting a video of the moorings going in and launching. Good effort so far and looking forward to more :)
@@finno123456 I extended my wiring from the bilge pump to switch thats why i used more wire, otherwise if you put hte switch near the bilge pump you dont need to extend
@Islander Outdoors I assume below the wooden floor there will be a void so I will not end up screwing directly through the bottom of the boat. I only plan on using small grub screws, or I was going so silicone a piece of plastic to the bilge floor then screw the pump to the plastic
@@GraemeJones1979 the small screws won’t penetrate much anyhow. I have no idea what’s under my floor tbf, might not want to know as she’s 25 years old 🥴😂

Glad you enjoyed it!
Outstanding video! Thank you for sharing. Hello from Canada
Here in the states 3m marine sealant is definitely the best on the market i wonder how your guys compares

Remember a loop in the hose before the outlet.
Do you have any background in electrical work? Alot to take on, very impressive work.

It’s a 15A fuse in my one 👌
I have the same three way switch with 15A fuse.
My little bilge pump says to use 3amp fuse. Should I bypass the 15A fuse with a 3amp fuse?

Boats are a lot like horses really... you throw a lot of money at them but, if you do that and look after them they will always take you home.
Hi, where do you run the positive from the bilge switch to. Is it straight to the battery or through the fuze panel?
Thanks for the video!
There is two positives one goes to battery one goes to the switch 👍

Yes buddy I extended it to run to the battery
How is the Seaflo bilge pump after a year in the boat?? I'm torn between that and rule
It works a treat, looks exactly as it did a year ago Richy, I’ve got nothing to compare it to in fairness but I’m happy! 👌

Do you solder your wire connections? Can I ask what the blue wire is you're using also? Thank you
I use heat shrink solder connectors they’re very good! The blue wire is 12 guage to extend the distance from switch.

Tomorrow night Hashim! 🏕

I have a 14ft wood fibreglass fletcher is it safe to screw my bilge pump directly to the floor? Or am I best using silicone to stick it down
