You can make it either way. The primary tutorial is for a regular beanie. You can stop the increase at round 5 and jump to round 7 also. Then the max stitch count around will be 60 for a snugger fit. You can also leave off the last 2 rounds of sedge stitch (rounds 20 & 21) to make it a little shorter. For the slouchy version, leave the length or add more rounds. I say regular beanie, for my aunt & mom this tutorial would be a slouchy because their heads are smaller than mine.
