Thanks to you and your channel Erik, I shot my first f-class match a few months ago 600 and 1000 yards. This last Saturday I shot with my son in the 600 yard mid range at a competition in Coalinga. I shot a 598 with 40x. I was so excited. My son who was a Marine and is now in a wheel chair shot a 599 with 26x. He shot a 6mm Creedmoor and I shot Ft/r 308. My son shoots off a tripod which makes it even more difficult. He is a Quadriplegic with very limited use of his hands but he is able to shoot and I am so proud of him. Thanks for inspiring us to get back into long-range shooting and competing.
@@ErikCortina for sure Erik, this was an impressive performance. With more wind, especially with rapidly changing wind, the experience of a long range shooter kicks in and this matters a lot
Never fails to make me want to go out and set up a target.. only here is its -7 and there is snow on the ground to lay on. I don't mind rolling out some carpet but the condensation on the firearm from going in and out of the cold isn't much good for it. Thanks for the Video!
Way to go FNG!! To have never shot 500 yards before,he killed it. Great job Mitch and everyone. Love watching these! I really want to see an iron sights shooter do this!
Hell yeah Russ! My favorite lefty on a righty bolt gun! For all you open sight key board super snipers, y’all see how surprised Erik was that not one has showed up?
Brandon is a natural shooter, he hit a small plate hanger once or twice but he shot better then anyone else that is for sure. Eric I want to see you get a few of your competition friends out for this. Russ is my new favorite, I like him, he shoots well.
The new format is great, keep up the great work. I also enjoy the information that you share with all of your viewers, You Eric are good for the sport of shooting. Thank you
I don't know how you did it but I really enjoyed the "Scope eye view" of the target when Dillon shot his string ! It would be enjoyable if that could be done with every shooter . BTW I think your new scoring system is great .
Great Show again.Brandon did Amazing, and his 6 Creedmoor barely tickled the 2" target giving him a faster recovery helped him stay on target with a light recoil.
Instead of continuing on the small target for additional 21 points per hit. You could set up an additional KYL rack at 750 or 1k (same size rack) that they would continue shooting on for the additional points. Clear one, move to the next. "Find your limit"
Isn't that sort of a difficulty double dip to double the distance for wind and visibility issues while simultaneously halving the angular subtension of the targets?@@jcamp9331
Love the change in format, really gives the shooters a chance to show how good they are. Funny how you announced no paint, but must have used a little magic to fix that target.
A great change up to the format. Plenty of action and superb shooting. Really enjoyed the conditions allowing us to track the shots to the target (or not) 😎 🎯
The 1st guy, Mitch, I believe. Man way to stay cool and focused. That's not easy to do but I think alot of people was happy for you. I'm wanting to come out soon. I want to bring 2 rifles though. One with a scope and one without. 20 years ago I'm pretty confident I could've taken the $5k home but these days I'm struggling to see what I'm texting now.
New format is definately a HUG plus! I will get my gun and loads tuned, (with an EC tuner) when I get some time and try and get out there! This looks like a hoot!
Awesome video! 500 yards is out there I deer hunt from 100 yards to 400 being the furthest in a open field I use a Ruger 7mm all oem. Is there any chance you could send me a list of what Brandon's gun is? Cant wait to watch some mor Thank you.
I like the format. And my guy Brandon just put Altus on the map. They built him a nice rifle and I'm a big fan of 6mm Creedmoor. Berger makes cartridges for it with 105 hybrid and Lapua brass that kill it. It's 55 bucks a box of 20 but if you can find it you don't have to reload in a pinch. I've shot them at 1000 yards with ag score of 592 and 18 x. I'm very new to 1000 yard shooting. Fun show Erik
Grear format. Fun to watch. Quick paced. Easy to follow. Not sure how you selected the order, but maybe draw the order in case conditions change. Creates a random order where all have the same chance of conditions. I can see this becoming all the rage. Thanks Erik for furthering the shooting sports. 25 creedmoor, yes.
I've hit a 3 inch target open sights at 100 yards 12/15 times. That was with a .22 lever action. The rifle was my grandfather's from the 1920's. He modified the rifle for competition shooting. He bored out the stock and filled it with lead. The rifle was a great gun. Sadly it was stolen.
Just stumbled on this channel and love the format. got hooked on this sort of stuff from Texas Plinking.. Like the new rule change and this Florida guy needs to make a trip over there..Live just south of Altus shop, will have to checkout their rifles.
Watching learning, watching y'all struggling while shooting prone, bench top, and tripod . try a left handed rifle. Trigger hand stays on gun for control while left hand works bolt and mag changes no need to peek over to see a jam . like driving a stick shift vehicle do you grab and hold your sack with your left while steering and shifting only right handed yes can be done just less control . common sense ain't so common. Try my way !!, your welcome btw!
I am liking this. So cool how you help the competition to do the best they can. That says so much about you Eric, bravo 👏,. You can only be as good as the people around you.
These excellent videos. Thanks for all the work you do putting these out. Thanks for what you are doing for the shooting community! You are the man Erik!!! Now that I have you buttered up I have a suggestion. Have a similar contest for us amateurs/wimps. Maybe a 300yd course for guys with factory rifles shooting factory ammunition. Just an interesting idea. Thanks again brother.
All I can say is respect, I recently stumbled on to your videos and what a gift you are. Normally those who can, DO and those who can’t Teach, well you do BOTH. It will take some time to catch up on you videos! I have been a hunter / shooter since the 60’s and have many misconceptions an a few good fundamentals. Watching your videos have really turned on the light. Of course the plethora of niche cartridges is daunting, so many acronym’s and numbers, each for a specific perceived task. Since I am not a competitor and use factory ammo, I still shoot the old 3 Line 8, 168gr SWH. Not perfect in specific competitions but great overall, I have become accustomed to the recoil after 60 years. Thank you for pushing my range past 500m. Have you used the 3 Line SWH much in your day? I thought it needed its own acronym, 308 standard work horse! Gotcha.
Great shooting whether you hit all targets or not. Erik Cortina you have a great mix of southern gentleman and Texas smart a$$. I may have to try this some day.
Hey Eric, I'm the guy with the Lee Enfield 303, with open sights and if I could get to you from Oregon I'd be there in a heartbeat. I'd also try it with my factory Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor with a Vortex 4x16x44 scope. I like a challenge. At 67, you live life challenge to challenge and make it fun while your at it!
This is the type of video that really helps the new shooters and the veteran shooters great stuff ,great shooting I wish I was not so far away... awesome stuff....
Some great shooters. You can have the best cartridge, gun, etc. but it comes down to the shooter and everyone here can hold their heads high. Unless you have shot at this distance, you have no idea how little it takes to miss. Comparing this my FTR matches at 500, I can truly appreciate what these shooters just did. Like the new format. Thanks for sharing.

Great stuff and so much fun to watch! Loved seeing a Preferred Barrel Blanks barrel out there. I have 3 of their barrels, all great shooters. Hunting rigs but would love to build a match rifle someday.
Hey Erik, you have taken a great format and made it excellent. This is much better, love the fact competitors get to keep their score and we can have a real leaderboard. That’s amazing, I wish you both the best
Brandon never shot past 200 yards before but comes in and cleans house at 500. Impressive.
Probably there was not much wind

Nice shooting by everyone. A hit on a 2 inch target at 500 yds is amazing in itself. Multiple hits, kudos!
Great format Erik. You're doing a great job presenting this. Most people don't know how much experience is needed to hit the smaller targets.
Hell yeah Russ! My favorite lefty on a righty bolt gun! For all you open sight key board super snipers, y’all see how surprised Erik was that not one has showed up?
Im a righty that shoots left. Right handed but left eye dominant and many failures to correct it.
