Hi Mike Several years ago I became inspired by the basic design of this power hammer and I went searching for someone to teach me and answer my many questions. Finally I discovered you and these three videos. You helped me immediately and I built with you kind guidance one of my own Wow! What a trip! What a good friend you are! How many are you students? You probably have lost count Tomorrow I will meet you face to face for the first time and thank you in person. Your fortunate student and friend Reg Tomerlin
You do have a nice hammer. Now for the sad news. The bottom ram screws can loosen and beat the threads in the rods if the top screws that you mentioned were to loosen without your attention. Cross drilling and tapping both ends of the 2” shafts to allow set screws to clamp lead plugs into the bolt threads. Another approach would be to substitute studs for the two top bolts with nylon hex nuts to make up for a hammer’s self destructive behavior.
Thanks for the video. Just wondering if you need a good size Compressor to run this for let's say 2-3min? Just a general idea of air consumption would be great.
Hey there Mike, I am duly impressed with rhe hammer! Great job! I have a copy of Plans for the Simple Air Hammer by Ron Kinyon. publication ca. 1993. You mentioned an updated version. Has a new edition of the text come out? Thanks for sharing!
