Hi Greg, its definitely on my to do list for this year. What sort of fishing do you do? I am certain its a good knot depending on how well it is cinched up. It would be good to see how it behaves in both Mono and Fluoro, fluoro may perform better with higher density and mono may prove just to soft to cope with the constriction near front end, hopefully I can look at that in detail nearer the time. If you are looking for a truly strong line to line knot I would look at the "Modified GT Knot" video I did and the "Actual GT Knot / Viral GT Knot" My gut feeling and this is purely opinion (untested) is that depending on how well the Bimini Knot holds up in Braid fishing line the strongest line to line connection will be the front end of the "Modified GT knot" I did into the "Actual GT knot" version back end. Years ago I saw a test done on the Berkley braid knot. It proved to be the strongest in those tests I'd love to see this one tested with your very thorough amount of testing
Hi Tyler, I have got the Berkeley braid knot on my to do list. There are so many great knots out there. I am hoping to do the Bimini next which will lead nicely into the Actual version of GT knot. Tightlines.
Since running these tests, have you found a stronger mono-to-mono knot than the uni-to-uni? (Specifically, a thinner 40 lb mono mainline to a thick 100 lb leader for GT and amberjacks.)
I really appreciate the professionalism of your content and your knowledge about knots, which is why I would love to ask your opinion on which knot would be best for my application. I'm fishing for pike and using 13x braided line (0.26 mm / PE 2.5 / 53 lb) for long-distance casting, but I also need a thick fluorocarbon leader resistant to pike teeth. My leader is currently 1.17 mm / 125 lb, so as you can see, the diameter difference between the mainline and the leader is significant. Which knot would you recommend?

@@toitfishing thanks for the response, we use braid to braid as we distance cast big baits on most applications, 7 ounce sinker with a full mackeral cut bait, as an example a distance of between 100m and 150m depending on whose casting it. I actually prefer the slim beauty for the lighter braid leaders as it ties off neat and theres no need for half hitches that could unravel after 20 or 30 casts. Hence my question, I wanted to see if the slim beauty I tie could end up breaking the lighter braid itself as it only wraps the braid around a thicker braid, the uni on the thicker braid should only break at around 90 percent of the thicker braid hence the knot may not break at all like in the case of an FG. Hi Axel, thank you for the feedback, appreciate it. 1) From what I have researched and tied, the Slim Beauty bases the leader knot on a double or triple Uni knot basically a double or triple overhand knot whereas the GT knot bases the leader knot on a Figure eight knot. I think the Slim Beauty uses the Overhand knot as the profile is the slimmest profile of the stopper knot variants hence the name Slim. However I did come up with a knot concept for a figure of eight knot, which you could look at called a modified GT Knot where the wraps around the figure eight knot are squashed down to reduce the diameter of the leader knot. I have also tested various stopper knots, which you may be interested in. 2) For monofilament, apologies if I did not make that clear I normally do a How to Video prior to releasing a WSFK episode, if you look at my How to video for the Slim Beauty it may make things a little clearer, basically yes its 4 wraps up and 4 wraps down. But if you tie the clinch with 8 wraps up when you cinch the knot it unwinds from the top and it overwraps itself, you should find it will normally unwind 1/2 of its wraps. I show this in the How to video. Certain thicker monofilaments you may find it easier to wrap 4 up and then 4 down, but thinner line should naturally overwrap themselves. You can sometime help coerce these also. Tightlines and I hope that helps.
Hi Joe, this is one of many Line to Line knots I have tested. I suppose when I have tested every knot I know of I will be able to make that final statement. If you are after the strongest fishing knot I know of I would have a guess it would be the "Actual version of the GT Knot" but the Slim beauty would be very difficult to beat for a single line into a single line knot. Most fisherman are not bothered tying a Bimini twist due to how long it takes to tie.
Since you’re doubling up on the braid, wouldn’t a bimini be preferable on the mainline rather than merely folding the line over before passing through the double overhand? Just a thought that you’ve probably already considered and covered but I likely missed.

Hey Josh, agreed. I am not convinced anything would trump it for speed, low profile, strength. The over wrapped technique is genius and really takes the knot to a whole different level. You should have a go at tying the actual GT knot it does take ages but is really technical and when you see it on your lure rod and you show your buddy on the bank the knot you use it always makes for good conversation, it also gives you the additional double leader line prior to your leader material. Have a nice weekend. Tightlines. It is also the best looking fishing knot, well in my opinion at least. Take care.

Hi Owen, thx for taking time to watch. I would be really interested to know where it is from if you have the info, much appreciated. When I researched it the oldest UA-cam video on the Slim Beauty Fishing Knot was by an Aussie 14 years ago by the name of Andrew Clark. The Slim Beauty is the tits of the town when it comes to 30 lb test and under. I use it to tie mono to mono 10 lb main line to leader 20lb to 50lb. Great for a shock leader for surf fishing. I watch this video a bunch when I'm prepping the gear. The video is so detailed you will get a superb knot.
Take care.
Braid to braid?
FG Knot?
Hi Joel, FG is definitely on my to do list. Thanks for the support and taking a look. Tightlines.
Way too many unnecessary wraps. Been using it for over 15 years with doubled line, 6 wraps down 5 wraps up and through the loop. Tightens up pretty nice and neat and brutally strong. Has never failed on me
What is the slim beauty knot = Toit Knot ???
Toit is an end connection, slim beaty is line to line.
I not an Aussie knot
Hi Owen, thx for taking time to watch. I would be really interested to know where it is from if you have the info, much appreciated. When I researched it the oldest UA-cam video on the Slim Beauty Fishing Knot was by an Aussie 14 years ago by the name of Andrew Clark. Also every second video on UA-cam was an Aussie tying it, which is what I based my guess on the origin of the knot. Tracing magazines and published books on the topic was not any more fruitful than that. Tightlines, take care.
@@toitfishing I can't remember but there is American guy out there who claims to have invented it, and has a story to go along with it. He could be lying, but he has a rather big channel from memory. If I come across it I'll let you know.
@@toitfishing I just googled 'whi invented the slim beauty knot'. A guy called Tom pierce from Florida. (us Aussies are known for plagiarising haha)
That's Funny.... Its a good knot certainly outperformed everything I have tested to date. Tightlines
This is all I use here in NC for old drum fishing 20 lb main to 50 lb shock tied with the slim beauty never lost a fish due to knot failure
