      3 reps of 15 every workout. Took me _months_ of training to get here. Keep at it, your road is for sure easier than mine.

      Dinner-fork tongue If you Want to get More push-ups really fast do as many sets of 10, and try to learn explosive push-ups, Google them and try to get both around 3 sets of 15. Start adding More sets and increase the push-up ammount. Make The moves harder, like start doing Marine push-ups where you have your hands next to your body etc.
      This can work, but it's Also based on your genetics that can you improve like this.
      I can currently do 20 sets of 20 push-ups pretty easily with rests between The sets

      +Ryan W. I know a skinny tiny ass dude who trained literally for 2 years, using all kinds of roids, and he squats 180 kg for 10 reps, benches 140 kg for 10 reps... They always say when you take roids "You still need to put in the work" ... But the work is easy when you're on roids, that's the point. Roids make it all so easy. If you saw this kid i'm talkin about 2 years ago you wouldnt believe it.

    This test wasn't too fair, aren't strongman all about maxing out their explosive force, kinda like how sprinters are all about explosive speed?
    Forcing a strongman to do a lot of reps vs a bodybuilder kinda feels is like forcing a sprinter to compete with a marathon runner in a medium-distance run, adding weight for the bodybuilder is like asking the marathon runner run faster than usual, he will still be slower but still able to catch the already tired sprinter and reach the end before him.

      Also look at the distance the bodybuilder makes to get the reps, its like 1/3 shorter than the other guys reps. Bodybuilders... they have too much volume that they can't do the real exercise

  • @3dlll

    • @allenbinion1575

      Ya SURE? If so, Im lifting wrong.
      Hypertrophy is caused by low rep, high tension. Strength is gained more through high reps, pushing through failure again and again, I thought? Because after so long, so many reps..the body releases cortisol and stunts hypertrophy I thought?

      This test wasn't too fair, aren't strongman all about maxing out their explosive force, kinda like how sprinters are all about explosive speed?
      Forcing a strongman to do a lot of reps vs a bodybuilder kinda feels is like forcing a sprinter to compete with a marathon runner in a medium-distance run, adding weight for the bodybuilder is like asking the marathon runner run faster than usual, he will still be slower but still able to catch the already tired sprinter and reach the end before him.

    • @fadingship935

      @@thanasis-_- Nope, i mean im not an expert but i saw strongmens carrying boulders or heavy kegs across lanes, pushing big wheels etc... These are not about pure explosive power but endurance as well. Still you are right, bodybuilding training includes higher reps and the dude has advantage, however people expects bigger and defined muscle = strength, and when a bodybuilder loses a competition they think bodybuilder is just fake muscle enhanced with chemicals. If a bodybuilder wins, then people analyse it correctly.

    Steroid allegations aside, the challenge is more metabolically suited for the body builder since strength athletes don't typically do that many reps at a time. If they wanted it to be fair, I feel like they should alter the format to make it more balanced for each.

    • @Treekodar
      @Treekodar 8 років тому +3

      +Kevin Corso Indeed. This was like watching a strongman going to the gym with a bodybuilder and then only doing the bodybuilders routine. Of course the bodybuilder is going to win.

    • @bodi.a.r
      @bodi.a.r 8 років тому +1

      +Kevin Corso I haven't been to the gym, but doesn't doing more reps mean that you're getting stronger? I'm a swimmer, so we basically know we have gotten better if we can do the same number of laps (reps) in a lesser time. (Of course I am supposed to start going to the gym too for strength training as such.)
      So finally is that body builder like, not exactly stronger than the other dude?

    • @Treekodar
      @Treekodar 8 років тому

      From what I understand doing reps makes you bigger, pushing your weight 'limit' for one or two reps is what gives you strength.
      So instead of doing 8 reps of 80kg you do 1 rep of whatever your max is close to (100kg or more).

    • @jobforacowboies
      @jobforacowboies 8 років тому +1

      +Treekodar I agree, 20 reps?? wtf is that. Strong men very rarely journey outside of 5 reps. where bodybuilders routinely 10-12 up to 15 reps. Totally 1 sided. Love to see them then go to one rep maxs.

    • @kevincorso7851
      @kevincorso7851 8 років тому +1

      +Internet CHROME Well this is sort of a complex answer because there are different types of strength here. Yes, you are getting stronger, but more repetitions stresses your Type I muscle fibers, thus making those stronger. These are your smaller fibers better suited for endurance and are a part of your oxidative energy system. When lifting for endurance, you're gonna be doing 12-20 reps in your sets and by stressing that metabolic system and those types of fibers, they get stronger.
      However, you're not going to get huge like that and your maximum strength & power won't increase too much. Instead, you're going to get more cut since your oxidative system uses primarily fats & carbs as substrates, so it's mostly just your aerobic power that improves.
      The bodybuilder's training goal is called hypertrophy (= muscle growth) and it's more similar to endurance training. They're gonna do more weight somewhere in the 6-12 rep range, which is optimal for muscle growth because it's heavy enough to get those Type II fibers involved, but also long enough for your type I motor neurons to start getting recruited.
      Then the strength guy is doing less than 6 reps, stressing chiefly his type II fibers and phosphagen energy system. His type II fibers are going to be way stronger but he'll see little or no gains in endurance.
      Think of training goals/ adaptations as a continuum like this: power--strength--hyptertrophy--endurance. The grass grows where it's watered.
      I know that was a long ass answer, but I thought it might help since you're about to hop in the gym yourself :)

    I notice that in all of the challenges I have seen so far, the shortest guy wins. Elementary level physics say, that if you are shorter, you have an advantage. Same weight, shorter distance, means smaller amount of energy needed. For example if you do squats and your shoulders are 10 centimeters lower than your opponent's shoulders, you have a big advantage. On the other hand if these guys fought each other, a longer arm would give a big advantage, because the same angular velocity in a hook punch, would resold to greater speed at the fist on the end of the arm.

    Well Teztel, losing is allowed but giving up is not. You can always come back after training more.

  • @ElJulioso
    @ElJulioso 8 років тому +12

    Of course it turned out this way... it's basic physics. They weigh the same, but Tetzel is taller, with much longer arms, and thus has to move the weights a lot farther. Just look at how much farther he moves the log and barbell. Moving the same weight extra distance = more energy expended = more lactic acid buildup = getting tired faster. Unless he has a lot more muscle to compensate -- which he doesn't, since they're the same weight -- he's at a huge disadvantage in this kind of competition. If the object was instead to lift Atlas stones onto tall pedestals (as it is in some Strongman events), his height could have helped him.

      +ElJulioso AGREE!! As soon as I saw the 176cm Vs. 191cm differential while both weighed the same, the results became easily predictable. Just a matter of physics, like you said.

      That myth has been debunked a very long time ago. That's like saying if a fat person eats a cake as fast as a skinny person the fat person gains more calories, even though the cakes are the same.

    • @ElJulioso
      @ElJulioso 8 років тому +1

      Jofrey Lupul Your analogy makes no sense. It takes 33% more energy, for example, to move a given weight up 2 feet than it does to move the same weight up 1.5 feet. Do you actually deny that? If so, then you may as well just lift the bar 2 inches off the floor when you do your deadlifts, because it would take the same energy as lifting it up all the way!

    They both weigh the same. One of them is 6'2 and and a strength lifter and the other is 5'7 and a body builder. One reason why strongmen are stronger than body builders is the weight difference. They do not care about being cut. Including the extra weight from this guy's bones and body fat, he has considerably less muscle than the short guy who has a much shorter range of motion. One of them is obviously roiding HARD and the other seems to just train hard.
    Although I understand all is fair in this competition, I can't help but think this was just one sided.

      +Ragniirox height disadvantage, and Tetzel had better form on the shoulder press, the bodybuilders reps shouldn't have counted. (it almost looked like a incline bench press) it should have been a one rep and down and pick up like it is in strongman competitions. the deadlifts for the bodybuilder was bullshit. he so short no range at all. it should have been done so the range could be the same for both athletes.

      +Nef v Im all about bodybuilding but this guys is clearly on gear which already is an advantage. But still impressive strenght. Dont know about the powerlifter though. I mean ive seen few people doing powerlifting and would smoke this guy. Secondly this all bodybuilding movements no squats or bench and they didnt also go heavy enough. Bodybuilders fatigue very late with smaller weights compared to powerlifters. With heavier weight he woulfnt keep up for very long. But the the strongman seemed pretty weak
