This is the 3rd video in a row with Bertrand in it that I've watched. He seems to have 3 problems. 1) He's far too cocky for his skill set. He's clearly not as good as he thinks he is. 2) He doesn't have the will to win. He takes too long to rest and doesn't push himself. 3) His triceps are clearly not very strong. He has failed during the dips part in all 3 videos I watched.
He's not wrong. There's no doubting that Bertrand is aesthetic as fuck but when it comes to the athletic side of things, he's not up to par with his competition.
EatOrLumby back when I used to work out I over did pullups to the point where now my inner elbow tendons are fuked. during the dips u could here the black dude say hes listening to his body where the white dude was overdoing it at the end. fuc heart, lifting injuries aint worth a fuq
Bertrand was doing deeper squats and I can see great progress on his bench and squat. Anyways, the Men's Physique athlete was a bit quicker, as well as he needed shorter recovering periods. Really motivational fight! Hope to see more soon.
You can see that he always get demoralized during the bw exercises. I think because he comes from calisthenics he expects to steamroll the dips but when he sees that the other guys can do them as well he panics
Are you stronger than him I don't think so. So stop typing pointless comments and do something with your life instead of commenting stuff like this. Get the hell out your moms couch and DO SOMETHING
Thanks please don't and I'm not gonna act like a crazy school girl and say that I changed somebody like people in the comments who get hype af over replies of youtubers that don't even have 500 thousand subs and even though they do they just commented back to you. Nobody's gonna care all there gonna be like is "oh cool".
And Bertrand claims to be a calisthenics specialist? why bro? Why are you making fun of cali every single time? since when calisthenics dude failed to perform in dips ?
every exercise here plays into the men's physique athlete There must be more variation in the exercises, not simply lifting weights. Why there aren't any courses that would test how dynamic and fast are the athletes with their bodies? Think for example of comparing gymnasts, who train their bodies to achieve finesse in certain skills, against powerlifter in a match where the gymnast should squat as much as he can and the powerlifter should try to tumble around and do stuff standing on his arms upside down as a gymnast. Edit: To all point people saying it's strength: strength has flexible meaning so doesn't constrict itself only to how big the numbers are or how big the rock is you are picking. If you are dismissing involvement of skill, saying that gymnastic is just skill, then why you bitch about the way someone does a squat, a pull up, a dip? Why not then measure arm length since that matters a lot how much you will be able to do dips or how much you will bench press. Same for height and the amount one deadlifts the weight from the ground. It all matters, that's why there are so many sports with emphasis on isolated skills. You might as well say this is cardio wars as well, because everyone is strong doing his first set, but then some gas very fast and can't continue and others keep on going.
+Lissove LOL strrength is not about how heavy u can lift u dumbasses stenght is about what u can accually do with ur own body lifting weights is not much different than cok suking
Don't watch motivational videos, just watch this channel! I think its the most motivational channel on planet Earth! This competitive spirit makes me lift weights with endless power! Keep on, guys, you are awesome!
+Bose Ranger Exactly my thought. Many of Joe's squats were "no reps". He would've lost if he did justice to every rep of every exercise like Bertrand. Surprised that FULL ROM wasn't as strictly emphasised in this match...
+Bose Ranger Unless you're doing something close to your 1RM it is much more comfortable to divebomb the squat than holding it at parallel. You can see Bertrand is divebombing basically every rep as a mean to save energy while Joe is controlling every rep to go just parallel. In the end I think he did it this way more out of habit.
"I look at it as... when you lose... it's not losing... you always win. It's a win / win situation." I like that. It has a nice little philosophical ring to it. I'm not sure exactly how true it is, but it sounds good anyway.
A few problems with this: -- The whole design of the challenge is based on bodybuilding exercises, not calisthenics or a balance of both, so of course you'd expect the bodybuilder to have an inherent advantage. -- The challenges are based around pushing movements, with no pulling movements. Again, this greatly favors weightlifters rather than people who primarily train calisthenics. -- Lewis wasn't going parallel on his squats. Bertrand was going much deeper. The rules should make sure that they're each doing the same.
+Overhead4477 I agree with all your points. It still pisses me off how every single time one of the athletes doesn't perform the exercises properly. But the same points have been brought up in almost every video of this channel, so I guess it's time to desist. After all, this is NOT an official competition, it's just entertainment in a nice format so they're entitled to do as they want. And it's still kind of entertaining, so... let's accept it as it is, I say.
The black guy will stay a loser cause he never pushes himself to win. He's a quitter. You can see no struggle in his face. The man rests for 20 years each time.
+Dave Artist joe's squats are exactly parallel and he invested lots of training into meeting that exact requirement, though bertrands squats are deeper, yes, but without any need
+Kumpel Blase You should try it sometimes. 20+ or even 50+ rep squats... with and without belt. Belt makes it harder for high rep sets because you cant breathe with him as good as you can without it
BodybuildingRev Then it was probably just the camera angle. It's interesting, because if Bertrand would have squattet only parallel, he might have finished them faster, which would've given him more time for the dips, where he seemed exhausted because of the benchpress. That probably would've made the fight even closer. It's also about tactics, it seems.
@Just Needs Mopped in order for a rep to count the top of the hip should go below the line of the top of the knee. Thats ipf rules, but i guess its their competition so they can do whatever they want lol
Maybe give Bertrand another calisthenics guys to compete against. Its already been established calisthenics guys can't lift weights for shit but why is that surprising since they... don't lift weights.
+bryce Flanigan true, these strength competition is pretty unfair to calisthenics guys, there should be more dynamic comparisons, maybe like take away the bench press for like 60 reps of chin up or something, a more level playing field
I don't understand why they had more difficulties to do 20x100kg squats than 20x100kg bench press o.O ? Don't you think you should lift more at squat than bench?
Guys chill! Give this nigga some respect, he's trying his best... For me it was a close fight but I have to admit I thought he was gonna do better on those dips.
that bertran guy gave up before it even started. I feel bad for him. Quitting is never good. I've quit on stuff before and it feels horrible. So I always try to come back to it.
It's a Men's Physique thing, they unlock their full potential when they take off their shirt and putting on the spirit cap increases the flow of their chi by 33%, so they're able to push harder and recover faster.
Doesn't it take away a bit of the idea of Bertrand representing calisthenics when he's actually doing barbell exercises as training for the competition? For example, when you bring powerlifters, oly weightlifters and bodybuilders even though they perform the same exercises they usually have pretty different training protocols. How can you fare the effectiveness of doing calisthenics in comparison to the others if he's doing suplementary work with barbells?
Because it's a meathead circlejerk. Just throw in a muscle up, and the competition is done, since all other types of "athletes" they feature can't do anything else than benchpress, deadlift and squat.
Get Rekt I don't think the muscle up is the best raw strength exercise in calisthenics. If you notice the bodybuilder actually won in the dips, what's the excuse for it? They could've put some pullups too. What I said is that Bertrand's performance in this video doesn't display perfectly the transition of a calisthenic athlete into these exercises. There are some videos in this channel where Romano goes out to try Parkour and Calisthenics IIRC, he never trained them before so it's a perfect display of how a weightlifter would fare in such environment. This video doesn't achieve the same.
In a competition including Bench, Squats and Dips, the shorter limbed person always has the advantage due to the range of motion. If you looked at work done, force x displacement, the taller person actually does significantly more work. They should include an exercise the gives the advantage to the taller person, like curls or anything using leverage.
For a competition for physical strength or power your videos are good. It would be better though if you'd add some agility/dexterity and endurance/stamina in your menus. Its kind of biased when you only include weight-lifting. This would give people false impression that one thing is better than the other when it can only be true in specific circumstances.
Bertrand did alot better this time, I thought he looked smaller, but it was much closer and he's clearly put the work in. Hopefully next time goes his way
every time I step into the gym I always think good enough is never good enough. makes me gobas hard as a possible can (smart and safely) always pushing myself. also inspirational speeches. the ones that always give you the chills. damn does that make you want to look like a Greek god.
Did anyone else notice the difference in squats? What's that all about - 20 half squats vs 20 full squats? Why not lay out a set of ground rules so each competitor does the exercise the same way, because one is basically cheating reps while the other is doing it properly.
It should have been monitored a little better as Joe wasn't squating to parallel all the time whereas Bertrand was squating deeper every rep and trust me this makes a difference!!. But overall very close at the finish. Two very fit athletes.
Next time try more calisthenics exercises lik Superman pushups, pistol squats, front lever hold, human flag, Hand stand pushups or muscleups...Instead of only more weight lifting oriented exercises...!! Common b fair ppl..!!
+Milan Sillik dont you get that calisthenics give a transfert of strenght? ive done calisthenics for one year. for my chest ive done only dips and pushups. then the firt time i hit benchpress i did 100 kgs. its not so much about the exercises
lool hush can you even press 30 pounds? loool u learn from losses so you acc win dumass . con you even do 100 push ups lool fat guy /stick fucking pear
These exercises were heavily biased in favor of the men's physique model. You picked 2 exercises which have nothing to do with calisthenic training and 1 exercise which is loosely related with calisthenics but still many bodybuilders and powerlifters include in their training regime. Why not choose muscle ups, one armed pull ups, double clap push ups e.t.c in the competition to even things out? I am suprised that the calisthenic athlete agreed to participate in this contest. Still, great production and awesome choice of music. Keep up the good work!

He's not wrong. There's no doubting that Bertrand is aesthetic as fuck but when it comes to the athletic side of things, he's not up to par with his competition.
yes all true + lack o speed
he just fucks up and tires himself too much if not it would be different story mate
I'm watching this on my bed, eating candy saying to myself "meh, I'll work out tomorrow." Haha
+OfficialTonyTK you are weak!
if you say that today you'll say it again tomorrow
Congratulations
Congratulations, you played yourself
+OfficialTonyTK one less oponent xD
"Dis time you ad going to kick azzez..."
Least motivating motivational talk ever.
Bertrand has no heart, always resting and never pushing himself to the limit
EatOrLumby back when I used to work out I over did pullups to the point where now my inner elbow tendons are fuked. during the dips u could here the black dude say hes listening to his body where the white dude was overdoing it at the end. fuc heart, lifting injuries aint worth a fuq

I'm starting to think Bertrand gets paid to lose
He is loosing free of charge
haha
Jan Benak LMAO free of charge or stepping stone
like a fall guy? makes sense
Bertrand is slowly becoming the Bob Sapp of strenght wars.
He first needs to beat a fucking legend (Ernesto Hoost) and then continue to lose.
LMAO!
he never won, what a dumbass lmao
so true!
Bertrand you're strong bro. Stronger than before. Thumbs up for both of you.
Bertrand seems to lack determination at times.
Christian Roldan Mental toughness is just as important, if not more important, than physical toughness.
Ian Johnson he's lack of stamina too
he is just a weak ,resting like a kid
You can see that he always get demoralized during the bw exercises. I think because he comes from calisthenics he expects to steamroll the dips but when he sees that the other guys can do them as well he panics
Perfect production, you guys are improving with every one of these videos! Inspirational!
Wie geil das Video wieder geworden ist. Mega. Großes Kompliment!

And Bertrand claims to be a calisthenics specialist?
why bro?
Why are you making fun of cali every single time?
since when calisthenics dude failed to perform in dips ?
yeah that was supposed to be his strong spot but idk what happend lol
camtasia1000 it was the fact that he burnt his lats out holding the square bar and not taking rest, horrible strategy.
calisthenics mean body weight. hanging extra 50kg to yourself is not calisthenics.
According to the intro, it was Bertrand's coach who suggested adding 50kg to the dips.
@@brcage Did you ever did dips? How to hell do you press dips with your lat?
This dude gets some kind of enjoyment from losing
Haha
didnt like to see black lose to whitie rigth call the white a racist you now racial card stuff hahah
adriano the honest gamer huh?
haha he is too pround
Looks like he took the lose pretty hard, why do you think he enjoyed it?

True
This is Strength Wars. The main focus is strength.
+Lissove That would be like a break dance, powerlifting mix. lol
+Lissove Because then it'd be a matter of technique, not strength, remember the name.
+Lissove LOL strrength is not about how heavy u can lift u dumbasses stenght is about what u can accually do with ur own body lifting weights is not much different than cok suking

+BaristiWorkout Thanks mate... We appreciate our partnership!
Don't watch motivational videos, just watch this channel! I think its the most motivational channel on planet Earth! This competitive spirit makes me lift weights with endless power! Keep on, guys, you are awesome!
I really wanted to see Bertrand win. It meant a lot to him, but he mentally checked out (gave up) before he started the dips.
I agree. You can see that because he holds his head down the whole time and doesn't even look at his opponent. sad
This series gives me enough motivation to go and workout silently and gives me the boost needed.😍😍😍
Joe Lewis squat half reps come on you can't count Them all, bertrand is going much lower, what requires much more strength

Bertrand (black guy) lost twice on Strength Wars. Or as he would say, he won twice.
hahahahahahahahahahaha that killed me

Hahaha.
I want to see a beer belly vs pizza belly competition

I like that. It has a nice little philosophical ring to it. I'm not sure exactly how true it is, but it sounds good anyway.
bertrand is training hard in bench i guess, he's so much better than the romano match
Betrand and Tetzel, who will be the loser????????? Like if you want to see that!!!
+argi0774 yup...
Awww...
At least tetzel won once
If they compete against each other, Tetzel will win for sure!
+argi0774 What happened to him?
Bertrand improved a lot. Hopefully he'll continue his progress and get a chance on the strength wars to win 1 for himself.
These were the only two competitors I'd ever seen on strength wars that I didn't wanna knock the fuck out. Very respectable
this type of competition NEEDS to be a mainstream competition! up there with powerlifting, bodybuilding, Olympic lifting, etc...
this gona be epic :D liked before watching
+Tony Raidy thank you mate
All Betrand needs is some S vitamin for endurance and stamina like everybody else.
Yeah, he doesn't take anything other from food... He could do a lot better if he used what's offered.
he is weak because he does calisthenics. he is also on the juice but calisthenics is shit for strenght
H
can't agree with you there
A few problems with this:
-- The whole design of the challenge is based on bodybuilding exercises, not calisthenics or a balance of both, so of course you'd expect the bodybuilder to have an inherent advantage.
-- The challenges are based around pushing movements, with no pulling movements. Again, this greatly favors weightlifters rather than people who primarily train calisthenics.

You produce the best entertainement and motivation videos, thx dudes and gj for all the athletes performing !
you guys should create a Spotify Playlist with the songs you use on the videos!

anyone notice how instable bertrands dip bars were
both of them did so well , congrat
The black guy will stay a loser cause he never pushes himself to win. He's a quitter. You can see no struggle in his face. The man rests for 20 years each time.
He is paid to loose 🤣🤣🤣
He obviously has determination look at his body

+Dave Artist joe's squats are exactly parallel and he invested lots of training into meeting that exact requirement, though bertrands squats are deeper, yes, but without any need

+Jose Rodriguez for what??
+BodybuildingRev i love your videos! for some strength wars competition.
That would be fun, set it up
+BodybuildingRev To see if he can do half of this test
+Jose Rodriguez 20 squats 20 bench 20 cheeseburgers
It has been 4 years and nobody has a clue about the song at 06:20
Nice half-squatting from the winner.
@Just Needs Mopped in order for a rep to count the top of the hip should go below the line of the top of the knee. Thats ipf rules, but i guess its their competition so they can do whatever they want lol
Why doesn't the physique athlete have to go parallel or below on the squats?
His hip crease was always higher than his knee = he never went parallel.
bertrand have done a great job ! massive positive change :D
chins instead of dips would have been preferd because of the bench press!
Bertrand you have a very motivating coach. I need such a coach
Man!!! This was brilliant!!!
Too bad there have been SW where street workout has won over powerlifters
Which one ?
Romano lost to a streelifter.
I will compete as natural bodybuilder and I want a vegan powerlifter opponent.

Bertrand . He has come a long way and still improving . His win will be hard earned but worth it .
where is pull exercise in this battle?
Exactly my thoughts.

I don't understand why they had more difficulties to do 20x100kg squats than 20x100kg bench press o.O ? Don't you think you should lift more at squat than bench?
song name 6:00? at least artist, the gyy sounds british.
Why is there no PULLING MOVEMENT ???? Pull Ups should be a part of the competition too !!!!!
+Bball Bbuilder Exactly
Great video again!!! The audio track is too loud though, is nice to hear the gymn environment. Cheers!!!
Damn, I love these videos! keep it up o/
Guys chill! Give this nigga some respect, he's trying his best... For me it was a close fight but I have to admit I thought he was gonna do better on those dips.
+WarriorOfPiece not everyone trains weighted dips. They're difficult and can be painful. Some people avoid them all together.
7:15 wtf is the announcer doing? is he actually faking being interested in this? 😂
in all fairness Bertrand did his best despite recovering from a shoulder injury.
Lovin' these videos! Keep 'em coming.

Am happy on my couch watching this, but tomorrow i must hit the gym.
that bertran guy gave up before it even started. I feel bad for him. Quitting is never good. I've quit on stuff before and it feels horrible. So I always try to come back to it.
Bring frank medrano!!!
Why did he remove shirt and add cap when doing squats?
No idea lol! Never understood the cap thing
It's a Men's Physique thing, they unlock their full potential when they take off their shirt and putting on the spirit cap increases the flow of their chi by 33%, so they're able to push harder and recover faster.
He became Rich Froning
I thought the same... Its coz he's a wanker
Daryl Sebastian Gonzaga Jr. its like goku getting his shirt destroyed . He gets stronger
Doesn't it take away a bit of the idea of Bertrand representing calisthenics when he's actually doing barbell exercises as training for the competition?

Very cool video!
But I think 20x 100kg bench press/20x +50kg dips and 20x 100kg Squats is not in the right relation.

Still waiting on the name of the song at 6:32
+Victor Kanashiro whats the song dude
yeah man :;
:(
some serious imbalance in exercises. bench and squat are the same and 50kg for dips is too much for these 2 competitors. i mean joe has 85kg..
Humility and mental discipline. Betrand lacks those badly.
For a competition for physical strength or power your videos are good. It would be better though if you'd add some agility/dexterity and endurance/stamina in your menus. Foh do you even lift
Sir Cullars Does it matter?
Bertrand did alot better this time, I thought he looked smaller, but it was much closer and he's clearly put the work in. Hopefully next time goes his way
6:15 name song pls :) FAST PLSSS
Whats the song at 6:32? :S
Bertrand rests wayyyy too much
every time I step into the gym I always think good enough is never good enough. makes me gobas hard as a possible can (smart and safely) always pushing myself. also inspirational speeches. the ones that always give you the chills. damn does that make you want to look like a Greek god.
Did anyone else notice the difference in squats? What's that all about - 20 half squats vs 20 full squats? Why not lay out a set of ground rules so each competitor does the exercise the same way, because one is basically cheating reps while the other is doing it properly.
+esosj Nope. Left guy wasn't breaking parallel and the right guy was (not a2g like you said though, but his reps were good).
Vegan Gains VS Furious Pete
Most novice lifters could beat vegan "gains".
Vegan Gains Family VS Scot Mendelson
Bruce Lee vegan "gains" neighborhood vs Scot Mendelson
+Oliver Colman C'mon, that'd be disgusting. AT LEAST Bertrand got close to the end here. Vegan Gains wouldn't get out the gate.
+StanisAuditore No way right? 150kg is something like 1 ~ 1.5 year's solid work or so. I know the guy's lots of bark and no bite, but surely
Bertrand always loses.
but according to him he always wins
Where the fuck is Tetzel ???
+Czuowiek Demolka preparing for his next battle i think
+BodybuildingRev I m talking about making noise before battle. ;)
+Czuowiek Demolka Missing Pretzel!
^ The legend has spoken
+Tetzel Halbgottschmiede I cant wait :)
I actually thought they were going to fight from thumbnail, it's a strength competition.
Hand stand pushups and d levers r nt basic exercises!!
+Milan Sillik dont you get that calisthenics give a transfert of strenght? ive done calisthenics for one year. for my chest ive done only dips and pushups. then the firt time i hit benchpress i did 100 kgs. its not so much about the exercises
***** it depends on your goal, if you want to go on strenghtwars is good to do both
***** if you have no equipment chooose betwee going to the gym or train calisthenics at home
This black dude always lose! Always.....replace someone pls
+argi0774 Haha u made my day !!
HE IS CALITHENIC. WAT R YOU EXPECTING?!?!
+Tony Stark lol r u serious ?

lool hush can you even press 30 pounds? loool u learn from losses so you acc win dumass . con you even do 100 push ups lool fat guy /stick fucking pear
I hoped Betrand win... Whatever, they are both strong, great battle! :)
very tough exercises... I appreciate u guys
