    I just love the using the stacked double instead of ch 3. Much straighter edges. I also never ch 1 and turn to start the next row with a SC., I just turn and do a SC on those patterns. I wish more tutorials would teach this method. Beginners can always find the last stitch of the row. Thank you so much

    • @mjsoffthehook
      @mjsoffthehook  Рік тому +2

      The right side is when you are looking at the waffle pattern. The wrong side is that zig-zig look on the back side. It doesn’t look like waffles.

    Do I need 900 yards of white and 400 yards each of colored yarn, or should I go with the length in parentheses (1650 yards and 800 yards each of colored yarn)?

    • @mjsoffthehook
      @mjsoffthehook  Рік тому +2

      For the baby-size blanket, you need 900 plus 400 for each colour. The numbers in brackets are for the throw size. :)

    You may have answered this on a different video but why use the stacked double crochet at the beginning of the row?

    • @mjsoffthehook
      @mjsoffthehook  Рік тому +1

      I like to do a stacked double because it gives a much nicer edge.

    I’ve never blocked a baby blanket. Doesn’t it just go back to the first, unblocked shape after it’s washed again??

    • @normaclayton2915

      I have wondered the same thing. Hopefully we will get a response.

    • @mjsoffthehook
      @mjsoffthehook  Рік тому +12

      It’s a personal preference if you want it perfectly rectangular; block it. Blocking is always optional. Usually I Always block my crochet items back to shape after washing them. Since it is a baby blanket you could be washing it a lot so you may not want to block it every time.

    • @ediearnold1716

    • @christinerussell138
      @christinerussell138 Рік тому +3

      I block some items for better stitch definition, it can depend on the yarn, but generally for baby blankets, or anything requiring regular washing, I wouldn’t block.

    Capricorn color is not a greenish, isn’t it supposed to be a Garnet color!? Anyhow, I like how Furl’s are using large, able to read sizes on their hooks now. My older ones don’t have it. Jmo

    • @mjsoffthehook
      @mjsoffthehook  8 місяців тому

      The hook is named Capricorn after the zodiac sign. Furls crochet has a streamline zodiac collection. All of the hooks in the collection are named after a zodiac sign.

    Whats the difference between a double and stacked double? Just sounds way more complicated than it needs to be

    • @mjsoffthehook
      @mjsoffthehook  Рік тому +2

      I do a stacked double instead of a chain. It makes the edge look way nicer and easier to work the boarder with.

    Is the stacked double crochet after that first row just done on that first stitch? And the rest are normal? Or do you repeat that stacked double crochet for the whole row? You’re going way to fast in the video for me😭
