Update on my Stihl rc plane motor. Homebuilt header and tuned pipe, big bore carb and some intake and exhaust timing increase. Ports were also opened up. And went with one ring. Less parasitic drag and more rpm’s in my case.
Bit of a late reply but I absolutely love this I usually just build my boats with zenoahs but I'd love to try this with a handmade hull don't think we ever got prathers in Australia great looking boats !
hey nice job what did you use for propellor and connection linkt to motor i want to convert mine to but don't know how to do it and i wanted to know how did you make the connection with the prop thanks!
I appreciate that. The coupler is just the original stihl clutch bell, the motor end of the flex shaft is shaped square, just like a string trimmer. not recommended for anything high hp
great question. Going to try it out with just the fan on the flywheel and the shroud, still passes alot of air. my radio has telemetry, i'll have a temp sensor on the head so I can watch it and maybe not cook the motor. If I had a tuned pipe or a better motor, I'd opt for water cooling. testing purposes only lol
I don’t think you’ll have an issue with heat as long as it’s vented with roof scoop and exhaust is vented out. Cool build always wanted to do this. I just rebuilt a weedeater and the thought popped up again. Keep posting progress flaws or fails. It’s all good content.
HI’m doing the same conversion would you be willing to make and sell me a set of motor mount mounts I have the same boat with the same stihl engine thanks.
Its what youtube provides for free & won't earn me a copyright strike. Im not enthused by the tunes either. That being said, this is my most watched video per day right now.
Nice job on the conversion!!I’m currently converting one for a plane. But have a 30cc homelight in my 46” v hull

So with this being a weed eater motor are you not adding any cooling system? Just curious because I have a 52" man o war with a homelite motor.
