Great video Mark on how to complete a top end rebuild. Compression plays a big part in engine performance, tuning and hassle free running. Many people are scared to pull apart there engines in fear of stuffing them up, but as you showed in your video its not that hard and the benefits is well worth keeping your engine in top shape for max power and fun!! So keep up the good work +the info you are supplying to the racers is fantastic and will only help the sport grow even bigger!!!
Hi Mark, you keep making surprises to all of us , the cut in half cylinder is all the money, explaining the work of the engine . Great video again and very very useful to all of us . Keep up that great work my friend.
Really love the content you’re putting out here. I don’t race on-road, just bash off-road RCs, but the power plants are the same and share other concepts as well. I find your general RC videos very informative. The carb rebuild video was amazing as well and enjoyed the bearings install talk. This hobby is pretty niche I know specially fifth scale, but still confusing how we don’t have quality content on these engines on youtube, but looks like that’s about to change :) keep up the good work!!
Thanks Mark for all your efforts in making these videos. This is exactly why are love this RC hobby great people, great advice and people trying hard to help others and the hobby! I'm subscribed
I had such a hard time to get the head onto the piston. It's a brand new engine, the 36cc double ring CY engine. I was removing the bottom ring before even running it. Then it was stuck. After pouring some oil in there and pulling on the pull start its turning.
Excellent video. I've never seen the cylinder cut open like that. It was a real eye opener to see how the gasket thickness affects compression. If you were going to redesign the cast aluminum cylinder from scratch, what would you change?
Mark Thomasson Thank you for your video, it's well explained and so clear. I do have a question about the engine. If you do a full cycle with the piston and look from the carburator ''hole'' does the piston come down all the way? Can you see the top of the piston when doing the cycle? Thx a lot!
Another good video. Another way to create the gap for the cool is to use paper. Normal A4 paper is 0.1mm, so cut off a strip and fold it twice. There's your 0.3 and you don't magnetize your feeler gauge.
right so.. maybe im not the best researcher when it comes to this topic but perhaps you can somewhat answer my question: is there like a sign or something that may tell me if a motor is quote on quote worn out? cause you can't tell me with the wear and tear and stresses a motor goes through, it doesn't wear down. bare in mind, im fairly new to gas (specifically RC) engines like Zenoah or ones from Rovan.
This is fantastic. And the only video I've seen for disassembly and reassembly of these Zenoah engines. If you could tag 'GoPed' in this video I know it'd get a ton more views :) I found it by searching 'Zenoah'
Arrow on the piston points to exhaust? So head bolts are 7nm but what about crank bolts? I’m doing a full build bottom end up and the seller that sold me the kit claims there are no torque specs for the 32cc
Subscribed - great, informative videos. Would really appreciate some 2-stroke tuning videos. There’s enough theory videos out ther, but a practical, video showing how you tune for peak performance would be great. Maybe a bench video showing how needle adjustments impact sound and overall power. Thanks!
I've got an awesome practical tuning / demo video planned! I'll load up the engine and demonstrate how tuning effects performance (and life span) will also show live RPM and Temp data too. Thanks for the support Mate!!
That is great! Was going to ask the same, I look forward to it. My main confusion is with the Idle screw and what to do with since I can tune the low speed needle to control the idle as well. Low speed and Idle screw settings are the confusing part to me, seems like I can adjust either to achieve a good idle, so not sure! Looking forward to your video!
Awesome video mate, look forward to see your full rebuild videos and how to modify head. Do you ever modify your carbs? I have a ported head for my G320 zenoah and want to find out how to modify my carby to supply more fuel!! I think it’s a pop off mod ??
Thanks Legend, appreciate the support! I don't normally have to worry about the carb supplying enough fuel (our track is pretty short, so much much time WOT) the pop off mod really relates to the spring, if you are running out of fuel i'd be checking the metering lever or diaphragm! what are you running the G320 in?
Hi Mark what do you do for break in after a rebuild? i usually do 3 \15 min heat cycles then a couple of tanks at half throttle pulls and 1 tank At full short burst throttle Great vid 👍😎
@Ian McKay - for a full rebuild I normally do the same as you! my heat cycles are only up to operating temp tho... I'll demo what I do in the full rebuild video! you into cars, boats, planes or heli's? Thanks for the support Mate!
@@MarkThomasson76 I mainly do large scale custom bajas And. 1:5 desset trucks but also nitro Rc losi 8ight , had a big end failure last month on a ported 36cc the con rod went through the crankcase! 😣 All rebuilt now .look forward to your next vid👍🍺
Hello sir,Can you please help me to sort out my problem.I have KG 22 kalt baron egine japanese. It is very hard to pull ,Many time is broke te pull rope.I am fed up to repair it again nd again ..can you please give me solution because Kalt engine machinsm is different from zenoah
I am new to goped and watching this video taught me a lot on rebuilting my little motor. Ty
Realy miss this guy videos. Great content
I enjoyed the video, picked up a Losi 5ive T and a HPI Baja 5b. The 5B is tired and in need of a rebuild. Thanks for the tips!

Fantastic information Mark really enjoy your video’s

Hi mark do you reccomend using threadlock on the four head bolts.
I drive a 1:40 mixture in my 30,5cc
Does it have more wear than
1:28 mixture?
I use liqui molly race 2 stroke oil
Hope to see other vidéo of préparation
How does the few get to the spark plug? 21:31 21:40

Such a great presentation with in depth information👍

Well done!
Is 4 bolt motor better for racing my motor is 2 bolts running strong and very tight use 5 oz oil to a galón here in Puerto Rico
Excellent video!!!!
Another quality video. Keep em coming.
Got a zenoah LH 23cc go ped is this the same engine plz great vid
I'm not sure, however the cylinder technology would be the same tho - as would the rebuild techniques
Great video. I wish you showed how to disassemble bottom end and replaced the bearings
Great video
Realy good info

Another great video Thanks for the info, I am about to redo my mini motor and this will come in handy .
Hi, can you tell me where you bought the torque wrench /make/model please?
Another great video, thanks for the detail its a great learning piece for sure !
Keep it up these are awesome
Thanks Legend! now if only young #27 Blair could start helping me!! haha

Hi Mark, what's the foam cleaner you're using?
What torque settings is the crank case and head???
Very good video ✌️🇸🇪
I really enjoyed this thanks.
At how many hours would you recommend to re ring?
How much do you save when doing the rebuilding if your not buying a new engine.
Does anyone know if Mark still makes videos?
Coming back to UA-cam?
Dudue your videos are awesome, but it seems you have stopped making em.
Great quality, great value.
Start up again!
I rebuild my and it won't start are try to start can u tell me what u think wrong
on 20:10 what liquid is he using?
It’s 2 stroke oil (2t)
