Yes, yes, you need to do a weather strip , better be dry than miserable cold & wet😢😮. We put a temporary tonneau cover on out truck for our trip because the camper shell was being build. So the camper sealer strip is an easy fix so no water gets inside the camper and can be removed to put in your favorite camper set up. Good luck❤
I hope it doesn’t rain while out. Don’t forget a pillow, your window covers, tools in case you break down. Water for mechanical reasons and drinking. Tylenol, emergency kit, gloves, a burner camping pot that also percolates ( Walmart) you can boil potatoes and throw in cooler to slice and cook easy! Also cooked hamb. And sausage and cook with a seasoned cast iron skillet. If not this time do it for the next. Toilet paper. Paper towels. A spray bottle with vinegar water to wash the skillet. Rags for washing hands. You will be happy you have these things. Also a can opener. Cook some biscuits to take if you want and warm up the sausage and have some sausage and cheese sandwiches even if You dont have eggs. Or just take some already scrambled and cooked
Isaac, I've slept in worse. You should really think about getting some rubber to use as a weather strip between the truck sides and the topper and it'll keep out the rain. Stay safe and I hope you have a great time.
I think I would have went ahead and added the weather strip between the shell and the bed rails. You’ll need it for your other topper as well when you upgrade. Of course I’m assuming you’re going with a topper style and not a slide in
So pleased you and Nathan are getting to have fun guy time along with your work though believe me I know too well just how much you are missing your girls. Much love from New Zealand Isaac and Nathan and to Jaylena and little Ember, I hope you are having awesome family days n nights❤❤❤
If your camper is wet, air dry it immediately. If it smells it could be mold. Very dangerous. You don’t want to be breathing mold when you’re inside your truck. Figure out where the water is coming inside and seal it.
Sorry about the leaking in your newly aquired canopy hope that it can be resolved with some weather stripping as a gasket between the truck & canopy Great little setup -it’ll be a good way to just get out there no wasting time for the perfect scenario Can’t wait to hear how your lil trip works out for ya -stay safe ❤😊
Well, that is what the guy was telling you the other day, about that camper you went to see about. He kept talking about dust and water coming in, if you did not go with the single slide in unit!!!😊🎉❤
if you keep using the camper shell for hauling items or whatever, in addition to the rail cap sealer, also for a tail gate sealer kit, water comes in that way too... then your next daily driver haul will stay dry. nice find on the camper shell, been thinking about putting one in my 2003 tundra, had it since we were both new and shiny 😂 amazing truck, never let's me down, a blessing for sure 🙋♀️
You can go to any canopy retailers and have that weather strip put in for cheap , if your planning on keeping the canopy it’s worth doing to never have water coming in.
Suggestions: 1) 12 volt heating pad for your sleeping bag or cot that plugs into your nice lithium battery. They're energy efficient and will keep you toasty warm inside while sleeping. 2) Refillable collapsible 2.5 to 5 gal water jug with turn on/off spout. 3) Handy dandy night time pee jug. 4) Single cooking element propane stove with a crossover skillet/pot with lid, and a couple of camping utensils (spork/knife), and cups. 5) Rechargeable nightlight that's energy efficient. 6) Something to temporarily mount your cellphone on so you can conviently watch movies/videos inside your truck camper before bedtime. 7) Smal table or shelf with a little cabinet/drawer to place under a side window. 8) Small 12 volt refrigerator/freezer, or an ice chest. 9) Small energy efficient fan. Now you're ready to go camping in your truck camper. My best wishes! Enjoy!
Build a couple of long boxes with sliders, & ur done. Jaylena have all the wood uwill need for that truck build in that shed she's just about to demolish. U've been a builder for a couple of years. How hard can it be. Since you bought a cot, who gets to sleep on the floor, lol.
Yeah my truck is a 2001 Sierra 1500 step side and I guess the beds of these trucks are very hard to find.... Endless you want to pay the pretty penny for one. I don't just want to. I like it on a budget 😂........
Isaac I know you don't want to spend money out when your are going to do a build But everything you have in the back will get wet/damp that includes you your bedding and your clothes if you don't get the water problem sorted
Where is the source of the water coming from? Shouldn't you patch those leaks before sleeping back there? What if it rains on your trip? Our favorite Filipino is going to get wet, not to mention the smell and mold it might create. Also, bring along a nice warm blanket in case it gets cold.
12 volt electric blanket in the sleeping bag you plug into the blueitti and you will be crazy warm on your next trip. Watch some 12 volt electric blanket videos. Don’t even need the my buddy heater.
@@isaacturnerit I can’t sleep in those nylon mummy sleeping bags I need to stretch my legs in different directions. Look into a Coleman 0 degree bag made out of more cotton than nylon. They are huge but worm. Also insulation under sleeping bag and cot is very important as much as what is on top of you. Comfort I agree is key to good camping. Well these are some things that work for me. Electric blanket though can make the worst sleeping bag pretty good.
@@isaacturnerit they are hard to come by lol. I saw your other video checking out the four wheel campers I have a couple of videos that I made customizing mine when I had it. It was also a base model but and older model.

You should put a weather strip between the camper shell and and the top rail of the truck bed then reattach the shell to keep water out.
I know I have always had the weather strip on all our topper and even slide in truck camper . Also saves scratches on the side rail of the truck .

Please remember to ventilate when using the buddy heater. It is a good idea to have a carbon monoxide sensor.

You need a rubber seal between topper and box of bed. That's where it's leaking.
