- Caveman’s Dream from ‘The Innes Book of Records’.
Original broadcast date: 14th February 1979.
“No animal skins or flint for me, I’ve got electric light and a lavatory!”
Another of Neil’s songs that can only be found on ‘The Innes Book of Records’. Nick Cabaret’s sings an ode to commercialism and of how cavemen could have only dreamt of a world of modern conveniences. - Комедії
This is a freaking under-sung masterpiece. Neil Innes was a genius, and the arrangements by the great John Altman are incredible.

Tomorrow never comes
Or so the saying goes
So take each precious moment and make it last
It's all been said before
It's true, I know it's true
The present is the future of the past
So now I'm livin' in a caveman's dream
No open fire, no nearby stream
No animal skins or flint for me
I got electric light and a lavatory!
Yeah!
I'm livin' in a caveman's hope
With all mod cons to help me cope
Where luxuries are what they seem
I'm living in a caveman's dream!
Yeah
Hip Ho!
Well all right!
Electric toothbrush,
eye-level grill,
three-speed blender,
deep freeze too
Shampoo kit for my automobile
Progress, I love you!
I'm living in a caveman's hope
With all mod cons to help me cope
Plus a life endowment to redeem
I'm living in a caveman's dream
yeah!
