Patience and moving extremely quickly seem like two conflicting ideas, right? So why do some people say FNaF 4 is a game of patience when they always seem to be moving at the speed of light? The secret is knowing the exact minimum amount of time you have to wait to be in the clear.

One last thing about Foxy: The jumpscare where he screams at you but doesn't kill you isn't a 5th stage or anything. From my understanding, the very first time you shine your light on him in the night when he's at his last stage (face peeking out of the closet) you get jumpscared like that. It should only happen once per night. It's kinda a cheesy thing to be honest because it doesn't actually indicate a separate phase, it's just something to get you spooked once per night.
Not a huge fan of that mechanic personally but whatever. LOL

So, one time foxy came into my closet and I closed the door, but I waited a bit too long and when i came back to the closet flashed, foxy made the animations.
@@azziakki i got fake scarred by foxy twice on night 3.
For some reason night 3 really got me. Foxy kept getting in literally 10 seconds into the night and already on last stage. I would check the bed and the Freddie things would be there wayy more constantly. Made me distracted and overlooked the breathing
I have always wanted to play any fnaf game but I get scared pretty easily by the jumpscares so these guides have been my only expernice with the franchise

A good way to have the jumpscares less scary at least in this game is to look away from the screen while listening for breathing so you don't so scared

I literally beat night 2 last night on fnaf4 what are you stuck on?
Sometimes you hear the footsteps in the wrong earphone in the middle (ON MOBILE), if it's coming from the left, go to the right. Same with the other side, If you close the door, thinking there's someone there, open it again and check for breathing. DO NOT USE THE FLASHLIGHT. If you hear footsteps receding from the side (door) you're at, Congratulations, you've avoided Bonnie/Chica.
On PS4, the footsteps aren't even panned.
After 2 weeks i made it today.Bonnie's breath always came in the first 2 seconds, Foxy didn't come until 5am and Chica was in the kitchen half the night.Just wanted to say thank you for making these games alot easier.

Honestly, fnaf four is really fun, but foxy kinda ruins it for me. He takes WAY too long to reset for me and he is just so annoying to keep track of in the hallway.
I agree with this, fnaf four is exhilarating as HELL! But yeah foxy is time consuming, and he also actually gives me some anxiety when he does get into my closet. Just one too many things to keep track of

Even if this is years old it managed to help. I’m currently playing on mobile and beat night 1 and 2 easily in first try. Suddenly night 3 feels like hell only because of the flashing light and foxy. Whenever I see the flashing light I panic thinking it’s chica or Bonnie but really it’s either foxy or Freddy. Thanks a lot for this walkthrough

A strategy I have is if your not sure you heard the breathing close the door and reopen it and it should get more loud if you don’t hear it just use your flashlight, also this strategy helped me beat night 2

I’m playing on switch and I just bought the fnaf core collection (fnaf 1 - sister location.) and every time I beat night 6 in a game I move onto the next, I’m scared to do night six on this game but despite this guide being a year old these still really help me and motivate me to beat the nights. So in plushtrap you will hear footsteps at one point. Let them continue for like 2 seconds then flash the light. He will run into a room. Again you will hear footsteps, flash the light and he will hide again. At one point of this process he will and on the x which is completion. The plushtrap thing only happens if you try a night first try. If you want to try 5he night again at 2 am click new game
Hooboy, I've never been as simultaneously addicted to, and irritated by, a game as this one aha. The footsteps are the big issue for me that keeps getting me killed at the doors by Bonnie and Chica. Foxy has the easily-recognizable Plushtrap scurry, but Bonnie and Chica have those slow, clomp-clomp steps that sound sorta like they're walking on gravel or snow. What throws me off is that when I go to a door and listen I'll hear these steps. My instinct is to shine the light when I hear it because, as far as I know, it means they're approaching the door but not yet at the door. This has gotten me killed a few times now, both from shining the light but _also_ from shutting the door and immediately bringing them over to it.
So I'm not sure if I'm dying because I'm too slow to flash the light when I hear the steps, and I give them time to enter the door tile before flashing, or if I'm just not hearing the breathing under the sound of the steps, or if the steps even have any significance at all (besides when B&C leave a door). FWIW the consensus online seems to be pretty universal that you should flash the light when you hear steps at a door, but that approach has probably done some damage to my hearing at this point from getting jumpscared lol. I know I've already taken plenty of your time, but if you have any wisdom at all to share about hearing B/C's steps upon approaching a door, I'd be much in your debt. I'm pretty comfortable with every other variable thanks to this playlist, the steps are the only thing throwing me off still.
There's a walkthrough on TrueAchievements that describes two "stages" for B & C-two sets of footsteps for each, the first one which you should flash your light on, the second of which means they're at your door, and if that's accurate it would explain my issues. But I have pretty decent stereo audio with my earbuds, and even then, trying to keep track of the counts on each side doesn't seem very practical, especially on top of trying to track Foxy too.
(BTW, won every single Plushtrap segment since you linked me the guide, thanks again for that!)
Footsteps mean that Bonnie and Chica are moving from one location to another. Could be down the hall where you flash them, could be out of sight, could be to the door. No way to tell where they're going or how far away they are. As such, I tend to duly note the footsteps and not use them to make any sort of assumption. Basically, ignore them, and if you're at a door, wait until they're quiet enough that you can hear the breathing. If that wastes a few extra seconds, so be it, just try and recover afterward.
Basically, go off of the breathing and nothing else to determine if Bonnie/Chica is there or not, nothing else is really reliable.

Being certain about mechanics like that, so I always know where I messed up, helps me enjoy games a lot more-player agency and whatnot. Last question, I promise! It might not be something you know offhand, in which case that's fine, you've already helped me plenty! But Foxy got in the closet at 5am and pretty much insta-killed me, do you happen to know if his timer starts when the game /tells/ you he's in the closet (the door sliding shut animation), or when he actually gets in while you're at the other door? If his timer starts ticking as soon as he's in, I think I know exactly what I did wrong, but if only starts when you actually see the closet door animation, I guess I just got really bad RNG on his progress rolls.

i won the plushtrap minigame after night 1 and 2, beat those nights first try. Night 3 was my first death because bonnie's breathing is way quieter than chica's for some reason
probably shouldnt be playing these games when I have POTS, a heart issue
I noticed that for some reason the breathing has felt quieter, and that the animatronics stay at the door longer
ai system becoming more agressive = harder to listen to there breathing + stay at door longer
These guides are a life saver before i could not get past night 1 and then i took your advice and got some headphones and now i'm on night 3 at first i was scared to get them because i don't like the fnaf 4 jumpscares but i got over it

I think there’s a glitch that may only be for the mobile version. If you run to the door while the Animatronic, (Bonnie or Chicha), is approaching the door, they won’t leave while the door is closed and you’re forced to admit defeat

Lol i kept saying CHICAS IN THE KITCHEN as a joke/reference to the first game and thought it was just one of those sounds to make you scared.
For some reason, Foxy doesn't want to leave. I wait for 5 or more seconds to put him in a previous position, while Bonnie and Chica are getting closer
What confuses me is that sometimes at a door, I hear footsteps (unmistakably footsteps, not breathing) so I shine my light and then get jump scared. I assume it’s because the animatronic was in the process of moving to the door when I opened it, and by the time I shine my light, they’re right there. So how are you supposed to know whether to shine the light or shut the door? If you shut the door too soon, they simply walk up to it while it’s shut. But if you shine your light too late, they get you. Frustrating lol
i know im late but dont rush it, if u cant tell the difference wait 3-4 seconds to hear breathing, if u dont then shine the torch if u do then close the door until u hear footsteps slowly fading, also the breathing sounds like bad asmr
I understand you don’t worry. It s based on luck mostly. I am waiting about 3-4 seconds but I sometimes hear only footsteps so I think it’s fine to flash, but it isn’t. It’s frustrating as shit.
I would say if you hear footsteps close the door reopen so you could listen to the breathing close it again and wait until you hear the footsteps which cues them to leave.
Main reason I’ve been struggling with this night is because when I hear breathing I shut the door for so long and I still die because I think it’s gone by then
I’m a bit confused of how foxy enters the room, like when the fast footsteps are louder, does that mean he is in the hallway you are looking at, or is he in the other one?
I highly recommend headphones for this game. If you're wearing them, you should be able to tell which side he's on. Louder footsteps definitely mean that he's in one of the halls, and running to the wrong one will result in him getting in.

There is a machanic thats supposed to work aggenst you but you can take advantage of it, shutting the door without any of them being at your door will force them to your door, so right when you get to your door shut it for 5 seconds if their there thell go away but if there not than what you o everytime just in case if that happens you open the door and shut it right away for 5 seconds. That will make the a.i leave.

I must be stupid! I keep dying to nightmare Foxy despite following this very strategy. IDK, nightmare Foxy is just too aggressive for me to handle.
I probably just need training, the only problem is that I stress out From the pure loudness of the jumpscare.

ive played all the fnaf games many times but none of them get under my skin quite like this game does it scares the shit out of me its like the only fnaf game that makes you feel full on fear constantly and not just for a few seconds like the last ones
The wait three seconds for breathing and shining the flashlight after the footsteps has really helped, BUT heres my problem:
1. im on mobile
2. My counting is off for foxy.
3. Whenever the flashlight flickers, I cant tell if its foxy or the freddles.
But I guess I should realize that its foxy if I don't hear the screeching. :/ I just suck at the game. I was stuck on night 2 forever cuz I was too impatient and didn't really know how to play. Lol.

I think this strategy is really dangerous it's better when foxy shows up close the closet for 10 seconds then check back of your bed it worked for me
Im on vacation rn and im playing fnaf 4 on my switch, so far ive beat all fnaf games up to number 4 with 3 stars because of these guides so thank you. Now why me playing it on switch matters, because im on vacation I don’t have a dock and i have to play on handheld mode and the volume on handheld mode doesn’t go high enough for me to hear the breathing and i have to put the speakers to my ear and i still sometimes cant here the breathing lol. I’ve tried headphones but the jumpscares are thwn right in my ears so ive just kinda been just closing the door for 5 seconds and then use the flashlight and just hope. Any tips?
I beat night 2 without foxy entering so it made that night much easier, and now I can watch this.
I could follow this but i think i have a better one first: right door then bed then left door then closet while keeping nm foxy at the 2 stage hope this helps!
Hey ! I got a question. I'm stuck on that night (mostly because I'm scared, but also:) because of foxy, of course. I'm getting mixed up with every sound cues. My main problem is the priority thing. I hear heavy step on the left, but I hear Foxy going to the right. What should I do? Go to the right door first, or possibly let Foxy come in by going to the left door? I don't know what to do, despite watching your helpful guides.
It depends on if you heard Foxy run directly up to the door, or just from left to right. If it's the former, you should go to the right door first. If it's the latter, you'll want to go to the left door first in most cases, especially if you haven't checked it in a bit. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Get into a pattern of door door bed closet. When you get to the closet close it for around 7 seconds. This worked for me

i tried the thing where he said as soon as you hear the heavy footsteps you can open the door but i still got jumpscared 😭
If you close the door with an animatronic outside, they shouldn’t dissapear immediately. It should take maybe 2-3 seconds, if there is footsteps before that time, it’s probably the other door or something else. This has happened to me too but after I decided to wait a little, the animatronic was then gone.
you need to wait the footsteps stop completely as soon you stop hearing footsteps you can flash the light
I know these are old, but I wanna add with this: I wanna be able to beat the game, but I'm scared to actually raise my volume enough to hear the footsteps because then the jumpscares will practically stop my heart dead in its tracks. Any tips towards getting better about said jumpscares? I could follow these fine, I just need to not startle like a goddamn *goat.*
If you're on PC and have access to it, loudness equalization is definitely the best option. It can be found under Sounds > Enhancements on Windows 10, although not all audio drivers have access to it and you may have to update or change yours if you really want it. I lost access to that option a while ago and am too lazy to get it back, so now my preferred method is to use the audio dial on my headset to quickly increase the volume when I'm listening for something and quickly decrease it when I'm about to use my light or I think I might get jumpscared heading back to the room. Unfortunately, those are both reliant on your hardware, but if you can find ANY way to increase your volume when listening and decrease it when there's danger, that helps tremendously. Other than that, I just tried to basically kill my jumpscare reflex by playing and watching a tremendous amount of horror, lol.
@@AmbienceOfficial I actually have a volume slider on my headset, so that's at least possible even on a PS4. Thing is, I can hear breathing fine enough at a typical 70% (minus Chica, who I have to wait far too long to hear cuz she's a cheating bitch who can apparently hold her breath a bit), and Foxy's footsteps are obviously audible, but the softer footsteps are sometimes a problem. Worst part is, I can't tell where said problem lies; sometimes they're loud enough to hear regardless (though not panned; thanks Clickteam) and sometimes they sound like they're far away, and I still can't 100% grasp which ones means they're still at the top of the map, which ones means they're at the end of the hall and which ones means they're at the door.
Still keep getting killed by foxy around 4am even though I’m consistently doing the pattern

I beat the 3rd night than beat plush trap and got so close to beating the 4th night with the extra 2 hours which kind of sucks
