    I got a 2015 3.5 ecoboost run no more then 3k miles between oil changes, change plugs every 15-20k miles, catch can is mandatory, and keep them air filters replaced or cleaned every 5k miles. Truck will last you a lifetime.

      Hey! Been a minute since I heard from you! My plan falls closely in-line with your recommendations, except the Sparkplugs-anything you can share on why the aggressive interval?
      Also, Have you had to replace your timing chain and/or turbochargers? I’m curious how long those things can last before needing replacement.

      I’ve gone through about six sets of plugs over the past 115k miles that are on the truck for some reason these motors eat plugs. From fowling prematurely due to not having a catch can, even had some crack and destroyed the coil as well. Just noticed 20k miles was best for good clean power. Any more I developed bad misfires especially pulling my 12k pound camper.
      Still on stock timing chain and turbos. I have a 91 tune on the truck as well really helped with larger tires and transmission tuning. Oil changes are cheaper then turbos 3k mile intervals are my recommendation.

    A Ford mechanic I follow says no more than 5K or six months for the 5.0 and 3K or six months for the 3.5. It's cheap insurance if you buy the oil and filters in bulk and, of course, do it yourself.

    Redline is good stuff. I think 2,500 mile oil intervals are too excessive for a premium oil unless that is a once a year interval. At that pace, you could use Supertech oil and filters and not worry. I think the R&P would do a better job if you give it the time to clean or between 4,000 to 5,000 miles or longer depending on UOA. I wouldn't take any filter past 5,000 miles, just my opinion.

      @@usocrazy6133 hey USO! My thoughts are in line with yours. I’ve just heard anecdotally about how EcoBoost engines beat the heck out of the oils. My recent UOA was great, but i feel my OCI will keep it that way and the boosters happy lol

      @@MidwestF150 If your EcoBoost has the wet belt for the oil pump, you can expect a major repair at 90,000 to 150,000 miles. Planned obsolescence is a real thing. Maybe you're onto something with the 2,500 mile oil change interval. I don't know why Ford went to the wet belt design other than to try to sell more new cars and trucks maybe?

    • @MidwestF150
      @MidwestF150  12 днів тому

      @@usocrazy6133 Nope, I don’t have a wet belt. It’s a chain. I’m still figuring out why ford went that direction though with the 2.7… even my brother’s Nissan Sentra has a timing chain lol
      Planned obsolescence is messed up, and part of the reason some of my maintenance items are aggressive. If I can afford being aggressive without breaking the bank, I’ll do it.

      @@usocrazy6133I’m hoping so. My biggest worries are with the timing chain and turbochargers. Biggest things I can control to help with those things are (I think) oil changes and driving habits. Seems excessive to keep changing the oil that soon if your oil analysis isn't showing [significant] signs of issues. The fuel dilution was still well within spec wasn't it? As much as you change your oil, I would definitely look into the subscription service from Valvoline. It was under $5 per quart for their garage box of VRP, which is a significant savings on the five quart jugs from retailers.

      @ well most likely you will get rid of it before 500k cause you will get bored with it, in 15 years you will only be at 225k..I guess time will tell. Anyways I 100% agree with you on your oil change intervals, every 2500 will keep that engine and turbo clean. I think your engine air filter at 6k is crazy soon,( I do 25k) and your trans fluid change at 60k is a bit long. A lot of transmission guys say ideal is every 30k with 45k being the max interval.

    • @MidwestF150
      @MidwestF150  6 днів тому

      @ hey Shawn! I really appreciate the feedback here. I’m actually planning to move up the interval on transmission to 30K.
      Ah I know the air filter is aggressive but last time I checked it at 6K miles, it had a ton of dirt built up. So I’m just being preemptive at this point.
