I loved how Foster could reduce Dean Martin to tears. Every one of his Roast appearances was a highlight and something to look forward to each evening on television in the 1970s.
@@da9killakev We had a lot of cheesy entertainment on television in the 1970s but the Dean Martin Roasts were a highlight. I think every generation thinks the same thing: I wish I were younger but I'm so glad I got to experience the times in which I lived. And if that isn't a patented axiom, I'm laying claim to that bit of eloquence.
@@RCTPatriot75 I know he and Don Adams were close and always goofed around cracking each other up but I've never heard Rickles laugh as hard as he did to Foster Brooks.
Foster Brooks was a great comedian. The drunk act was what made him famous. He did an interview with Johnny Carson and told how it came about. He was great on the old roast as you can see. When they roasted Dean Martin he came as Dean's old scout master.
You reacted exactly the way you should to this bit, it was all in fun. This was done in the 70's, he quick drinking in the 60's on a $10 bet. He was also a spokesman for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. A true comedy legend. And, he was a great singer as well.
I was a teenager back when the Dean Martin Roasts were aired - and I never missed them. Foster Brooks always killed it. It is a joy to watch your reaction to all this crazy fun!!
I love watching these old clips. As a teenager I remember watching them, they were always so funny. You know you're getting old...when you recognize everyone on the panel! Good times. Thanks for playing this...I always laugh at it!!!
Foster Brooks and Don Rickles were actually the true highlights of any Celebrity roasts they were a part of, and then the one got to roast the other... I was a stage actor for many years and was part of a great group of actors in a small troop and we put on 4 shows a year, with 6 weekends each show. and many of the productions we put on would call for a local "town drunk" and I was typically picked for these rolls as I worked really hard for it. Foster Brooks was my inspiration for those rolls, and many older people in the audience knew what I was doing, and told me I did a great job!
I love it! If he'd said that he was "fooling around with Don Rickles wife now, it wouldn't have been as easily received! Foster Brooks was masterful in his delivery. It was unpredictable, at times laced with slapstick comedy and funny as hell!
What was so funny about Foster Brooks is if you watch Dean Martin face ...Dean could never hold himself together pass a few seconds. Dean and Foster Brooks loved each other.
The old guys (and women like Phyllis Diller and Moms Mabley) could be absolutely hilarious and clean. Catch their live act, however, and they could be as blue as blue could be.
Jay, get a clue. This was when tv was censored as hell, with little true freedom of speech cuz of all the religious prudes afraid of some god they have no evidence whatsoever for, and other uptight a-holes. Out in the clubs, there were plenty of comics who were not 'clean', and we were very happy they were there. If you went to see some of these guys live, they weren't just doing this material.
When you get the King Of Roasting loosing it laughing his ass off, you know you hit a grand slam! Of all the moments involving the Dean Martin Roasts and Don Rickles, the greatest moment isn’t even the one when he spoke. It is this right here. You have to check out the Carson interview with Sinatra when Don interrupts them. Sinatra’s story about Don is typical Rickles and hilarious!
Back when you could say the most outrageous things in a comedy sketch, and no one was offended, and laughed like hell at the jokes. Sadly, this would never fly today.

I bet that must of been some funny nights seeing them live on 📺 wow

Has anyone ever broken Rickles like that?
@@RCTPatriot75 I know he and Don Adams were close and always goofed around cracking each other up but I've never heard Rickles laugh as hard as he did to Foster Brooks.

Me too😄

Ima have to check him out as the scout master 😂
Crazy as it sounds......Don himself never laughed so hard at anyone else, ever.

Is there some sort of "formula" regarding reacting? Sorry, you are an american.
I was a teenager back when the Dean Martin Roasts were aired - and I never missed them. Foster Brooks always killed it. It is a joy to watch your reaction to all this crazy fun!!
Wow how cool seeing them aired when they came out. Foster brooks is a funny guy. I appreciate it and Thank you for stopping by.
Me too. My family never missed one.
When you make Rickles laugh so hard he literally headbutts the microphone in front of him, you're officially funny AF!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣damn foster brooks was great May he rest in peace him and Don are roasting each other in heaven 👌😊
Lol they sure are

True entertainment back then , talent was a must back then
Yes it was.
That's the best roast start to finish....
Ever.
And Don deserved every minute of it. Not that he ever liked him anyway.
😄
😂 lol yes
The one of Foster Brooks roasting Hubert Humphrey and Sammy Davis Jr are close.
I love this guy's reactions. He understands humor. These other reaction are so dull.

Definitely find more Foster Brooks roast clips and appearance. He's tremendous.
Will do😃.
Just goes to show Don could take the shots as well as deliver them😅
😂 right
What was so funny about Foster Brooks is if you watch Dean Martin face ...Dean could never hold himself together pass a few seconds. Dean and Foster Brooks loved each other.
hahahah yeah I see it would be hard for anybody to keep it together
Foster was a beast !
Foster Brooks…best drunk ever!
They may or may not have ever actually met before this….but they certainly knew who each other was!
He sure is 😆. They most definitely had to know who each other was.
Freaking hilarious
😂
Only regrettable that there wasn't more of these roasts.
The old guys (and women like Phyllis Diller and Moms Mabley) could be absolutely hilarious and clean. Catch their live act, however, and they could be as blue as blue could be.
His Rick Sanchez is on point.
He said he'd gotten the act watching his dad.
He sang even better,on a show he sang Release Me great! Music City USA was the show!
NOBODY could make a “drunk fool” funnier than Brooks. That’s probably why other comedians today don’t even try to imitate the act.
Great reaction. That's when comedy was funny and clean. FYI , foster brooks has never had a drink...

Enjoy foster Brooks. I remember him on Mork and Mindy. Foster and Robin Williams on the same show.
That was Jonathan Winters.
This was real comedy
Yes it was😃

You should check out Foster Brooks roasting Humbert Humphrey and Sammy Davis Jr.
He's met him haha
This is good, but Brooks roasting Sammy Davis, Jr. is off the damn chain. Check that one out if you haven't yet.
👋🏽 kev yeah your the second person to tell me that I’m going to have to definitely check it out.
Slammy. Slappy, Snoopy lol best thing ever
The funny thing about this was Don couldn't respond to it LOL
Foster Brooks's skit was playing a drunk man. In reality never drank. That was his skit or act, acting drunk.
He played it so well 😆
Foster Brooks never drank LOL
😂
Watch him roast Hubert Humphrey.
He destroyed Rickles doing this!
👍
😂😂😂😎👍
😂🤣thanks Dan. Funny stuff.
I think your reaction is very appropriate lol. After all it's Foster Brooks.
Back when you could say the most outrageous things in a comedy sketch, and no one was offended, and laughed like hell at the jokes. Sadly, this would never fly today.
