@@kenchu4424 Slayers are Dwarves who have commited some kind of transgresion that can only be redeemed by death. So they vow to kill the biggest and nastiest enemy they can find. If they survive their guilt isn't erased they just go after more nasty targets. The most unsucessful slayer in history was probably Gotrek. He kept killing ridiculous amounts of enemies but didn't manage to die.
Ogre--hunting is where the fun is. That's gonna be the campaign - Ungrim and his lads wiping out the ogre race. Just need to think of appropriate grudge to settle.
@@michaelwang1524 So far in my experience Beasmen are pretty good for this. Vampires seem good of the surface because they mostly have a lot of infantry, but it actually is shit and you have to rely on magic and cheese instead.

They are good because they are cheap, easy to replace (do not expect them to not take a lot of casualties) and have a lot of buffs in both tech tree and generic lord skills. Usual army composition: goblin shaman lord on spider shrine mount and the rest are nasty skulkers. Second is savage orc big 'uns under Wurrzag specifically. Good because of his buffs to physical resistance to the entire army. Might throw some Grom cauldron buffs in if you happen to confederate him (same applies to skulkers). Third is WE bladesingers. You have to jack their physical resistance to ~90% cap via branchwraith's skill and heal them with life magic. Forth is plague monk censor bearers under clan Moulder's mutagens. They require an unreasonable amount of effort to build, but they work. Fifth is slayers under Ungrim. Probably the worst out of mentioned options. Feel free to toss a runesmith for weapon strength army buff and a single grudge thrower under rune of stealth (or whatever it is called) for siege attacker.

Speaking of ruins and exploits, MercytheMad discovered an exploit to spawn an ogre camp on demand. Waltz up to a ruined settlement and interact with it. Select "Do Nothing" from the options. This uses no movement and does not move your lord, so you can do this endlessly. This also counts towards the "violence" you partake in to spawn an ogre camp. Repeat until an ogre camp spawns nearby.
Cannons are super useful with Flaksons rune of seeking. Watching them destroying whole Pumb Wagons unit from 400+ range was one of the most satisfying thing i saw in this game.
I think this would have been much tougher in WH3. The AI there is a lot happier to just walk through your front line like it's not there to stomp your ranged units.
@@kaischwarz6590 True, but I don't think that would be more significant than your Thunderers only getting off a couple of volleys before being munched by Minotaurs. Legend got so much value from them here because they managed to keep firing.

I find very funny that in Lore the dwarfs are a dwendling race, slowly dieing off, not like the elves but close seconds. Mostly cause, not only the dwarfs had few kids, cause only one in seven of those are women, so the fact that Slayers are a thing, were a proper dwarf basically goes to commit ritual suicide instead of other means of attonment is pretty funny and dumb for me. A race were each live is precious and is the diference between extintion and prosperity, is weird that they can trough it away that easily.
@@matiasmattera6650 remember that in dwarf population terms, the male population is nearly irrelevant, the females are the important ones for the future of the race, there is a reason why despite female dwarfs being 100% able to be a slayer, you don't see them, and it's cause a female slayer would mean that her clan is nearly, or wiped out besides from her, infact the role of slayers fit well with the roll of rangers, they make there lives more disposable in exchange they keep the hold (and the women in it) safer
Masterfully done! I nearly had this exact scenario in the same location. Auto resolve said I would have a valiant defeat and I got completely rolled over. I was also playing SFO and Malagor is exceedingly more difficult compared to vanilla.
SFO levels the playing field for a bunch of races. Not to mention legendary characters are properly beastly. If someone/something is supposed to be op lorewise, they wont be a wet fart, like in some cases in vanilla. (Khm, Mazdamundi's awful spell choices, chosen, necroserpents or loremasters of hoeth...)
I play Warhammer Vermintide 2 alot. I had a Bardin as "Slayer" whose name was "LORE ACCURATE". He jumped into every horde and fought everything headfirst. He went down a couple time but he racked up the damage and did killer alot of Specials and Elites. I almost forgot about him. But watching your video and listening to your plan reminded me of that "LORE ACCURATE" Slayer.
Dude is using Thunderers with Thorek faction, that faction massively buffs Quarrelers faction wide with the special items you craft (unless that's only Vortex campaign someone correct me), making quarrellers better than all Ranger and Thunderers.
Thorek's grudge thrower and quarrelers buff are only for his army and not for the entire faction. Read the description, it's under lord's effects and not on faction bonuses
I really hope immortal empires gives beastmen ai some almost cheating starts. Late game beastmen have some armies you really dont get to see much of anywhere, but they normally die long before then.
I want to know something... Where do the ror units or those free slayers come from since you can deploy them anywhere at anytime? Do they have teleportation? High speed warprail? Or there is a group of each one of them following each of your armies watching them fight like traitors until they get paid?
Normally I'd say it would be, but flame cannons can kill 10 plus slayers in a single shot if things go wrong, the leadership debuff they have could have been enough to keep things alright, but it would greatly increase the amount of micro to ensure you don't do more harm then good
This is not that uncommon. I had Malagor pull the single strongest doom stack I have ever seen the AI ever put together on me a few weeks ago. It was actually stronger than this one. I wish I could post the screen shot here.

Legend relying on infantry instead of gunners or artillery is really Slaaneshi influence.
I'm trying to find a good melee/infantry faction to play on legendary difficulty it looks like dwarves are relatively good.

Did they fix it? I stopped using them after it seemed that projectiles were being "guided" just over their target and into the ground.

@@zerg-rush5797 it's much less of an issue now than it was. Can't think of the last time I noticed this being a problem.
Maybe the deathblow is considered as a projectile spawned when the model dies and that's why the slayers keep getting hit with vile entropy
I always thought deathblow was an AOE melee smash like lord's and characters do.

Because the main dwarf faction is still alive, if they reach endgame you've auto won as an order race.
Does the -5 to leadership when Lightning Striking still remain in TW:W3?
I could be wrong, but I looked through a skill tree and I believe that lighting strike is only available in battles with multiple enemy armies
