They want to keep the game in the narrative until the next game, with fans making videos and arguing theories. The problem is they jumped the shark so hard nobody cares. So we're left with both a bad story AND no fan engagement. Should have hired real writers.

@@Maverick.D. I think they are going to start the game with the party immediately going to the crater and then the majority of the game is the repercussions of what happens there. No delays, kinda like how Rebirth starts the party off in Kalm discussing Nibelheim.

@@HartleySan Reunion makes the most sense and is the most obvious, but it automatically conflicts with Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. You don't name your big huge game the same as your spinoff game unless you want to create a confusing mess with online search metrics, so it's completely off the table. It's exciting to not to be certain what the title will be so I prefer the mystery tbh
All I want for part 3 is: - For Chadley to have less interrupting dialogue during gameplay and between entering/exiting the simulator (or give us the option to access the menu through the simulator screen) - For endgame challenges/minigames to have a lower difficulty option (I just want a platinum trophy without having to sacrifice my mental health and carpal tunnel) - A DEFINITIVE ending for the story (not another KH3 situation where the "conclusion" brought more questions than answers and ended on a cliffhanger) If they add these + simply copy/paste the mechanics of this game on new maps, it'll be an instant 10/10 for me.

in mathematics and statistics there's a famous saying that "all models are wrong, but some are useful" meaning that it's highly likely that every statistical model we use is missing something fundamental to the understanding of the topic we're trying to study, but we don't know what it is so we can't include it, anyway. I feel VERY similarly about theories for this game. so many of the elements in the ending seem so contrary to each other that it feels like all theories are wrong, but some are useful. i also think it's very fun to theorize, anyway, regardless of the amount or type of evidence we've been given :)
I don't see why the ending is vague. If you actually played the rebirth, you already know why Zack is brought back and dev's intention is made load and clear with Marlene. This time, in the final game, Zack will be working with Tifa to retrive Cloud's true memory or ability. In which form? I don't know. But When that happens Could will be awake before Aerith did in slum 5 and this time he will truly save her from the infinite death loop she's been stuck with. There is basically no denial that she will be brought back to life in the final game and there is so many hints on it. Two theme songs, Hollow, NPTK, the Loveless show, fellas, memory flashing, transparent material, and most crucially the multi universe setting. The devs added all these new stuff into the trilogy for only one goal: to finally save Aerith this time.
@@jenferrier6724 We all know that the sell number of the rebirth is horrible. Imagine having Aerith dead again in the final game. Without a strong selling point this time, like "Aerith is brought to life after 30 years", It will be a commercial disaster for SE. By the way, I believe they made up their mind to save Aerith back in 2015. Otherwise, there won't be so many hints embedded in the first game already. The bad sells number just made them double down on their previous decisions.
Part 3 will be called RENO and every character will be replaced by Reno. Instead of Sephiroth clones we will have Reno clones. Instead of the J Squad we will have the R Squad. Every NPC will be Reno. Every playable character will be Reno. Chadley will be Reno. Monsters will be Reno. Every materia, weapon, armor, and accessory will also be Reno. Items will be renamed to include Reno in the description such as Reno Potion and Reno Cushion. Even Reno will be Reno.

damn seriously? to echo what he said at the end of this one, the theory crafting is especially challenging in rebirth because it is like there's at least one or two bits that seem to debunk almost every theory i've heard, while with remake it felt like a lot more was left for interpretation. almost like the meta is a challenging mini-game in and of itself lol. But it's WEIRD for people to get angry or toxic about a theory, especially since Max's was a little outside the box but linked to literally chapter 1 to a degree where it's like OMG you might be onto something... Video game fans do not cope well with painful stories. that said, I'm still processing it all, still thinking about it daily, I think it might be my all-time favorite game. maybe not THE BEST game ever, but maybe my favorite, and i love talking about it.
Came to this video to post the same sentiment. Long time fan of 7 and I follow Max purely because I see the same excitement from him that my brother and I get playing the game and speculating. It’s just cool knowing other people enjoy what I’ve enjoyed and I hope they don’t make him feel a need to back away.
It's 100% going to be just like the OG in that you get the brunt of the story in the last part of the game. I'm looking forward to what they do with the underwater traversal. I also cannot wait for Rocket Town and Wutai.
Since Rebirth is 2 discs and considering how much was not included in it, they'll have a huge open world with so much content for part 3 that it seems highly likely it'll be 3 or 4 discs easily and lead up to an incredible ending after all this time. Either way, I loved Rebirth and definitely hope to be alive to finish the trilogy.
@@YTHandlesAreDumbHe isn't saying there would be four games. They confirmed awhile ago that it's a trilogy. He's saying that, if you bought the physical version, there were two discs. If they plan on retaining most/all of the world that was in Rebirth and adding more, it might require 3-4 discs.

All I want from part 3 is original weapon abilities. If I'm doing midgar raid, spot a purple box only to get a sword with Disorder again I'm gonna be so disappointed
I'm right there with you man. When I started playing rebirth, I 100% thought we would be getting new weapon abilities. As I was going through the game slowly getting disappointed to learn it was just a couple of new abilities per character except for Cait and Red.
The most fun part of Midgar assault was how many busted items we picked up while doing almost a boss rush. It's going to be a crazy huge set piece dungeon, Maybe even longer than Temple of the Aincents and I'm all about it.
That's simple. Starting anew with all new abilities would be difficult as you'd have to come up with several different abilities that aren't the same as the one before while also allowing the character to perform certain actions that the old abilities allowed to. Starting with all the old abilities and add new ones would be too chaotic

Rebirth's world was very big AND dense with a fantastic mix of varied activities with SOME mild repetition- hopefully Chadley doesn't fuck up and lose all that World Intel the way everyone lost their weapons and materia on the way to Kalm, only for Johnny to pick them all up and hang them on the walls of his Hotel
@mangasaint Actually, I was thinking a couple of days ago about how part 3 might BEGIN, since it makes sense to start out with a refresher tutorial. It does make sense to have the game start with Yuffie stealing all materia and then gain some back gradually. At the end of the first chapter, Yuffie could give some tips on how to link different materia....doesn't seem too illogical, no?
The Midgar assault teams feel set already with Cloud, Tifa, Vincent and Red going after Hojo and his wacky experiments. Then Barret (Finally getting his true leader moment), Yuffie, Cait Sith and Cid going after the military led by Scarlet, Heidigger and The Turks. That should lead to some satisfying character resolutions where members other than Cloud get to finish their personal vendettas.

There's a Interview with Hamaguchi That he talks about How important is that you get confused and create theories as a community, the reason being that the next game won't come out for a few years, so is good that people keep talking about It for a long time.
That's clearly their strategy but they jumped the shark so badly I have no interest engaging in peoples theories, because I don't care anymore about the new story elements.
The theorycrafting is a lot of fun; they're clearly going for something very different using the original story beats, and Rebirth's entire endgame has me INTRIGUED. I think what they're doing is super interesting and I'm gonna let them cook so they hopefully stick the landing in Part 3. It's hard to judge this game from a story perspective without having the whole picture, but I can tell Part 3's gonna be CRAZY. I also can't wait for Genesis to make his triumphant return in the next game as part of the Neo Turks: Reunion with Nero and Weiss!!!
I personally saw it as tifa seeing what’s real and the bloodless aerith is cloud tweaking. Even when cloud walks up to aerith at the end while everyone is grieving she’s originally on her side but when cloud looks at her she’s on her back peacefully where he left her. Just food for thought
I honestly believe there will be a significant period where Cloud actually becomes an antagonist you fight against. Between not mourning Aerith’s death (and he knows she died) at all, hiding the black materia in his sword, and fighting alongside Zack who is key to bringing back his memories, Cloud’s sense of identity is hanging on by a thread. Sephiroth has manipulated Cloud’s mind and heart so much that when he breaks him Cloud will not fall into the lifestream and become catatonic, but truly become a puppet of Sephiroth. Which is why I hope you play as both Tifa and Zack for a time because the only people who can heal Cloud’s mind a d spirit are those 2.
Calling it now: The next game starts in Rocket Town, where we'll learn about the Northern Crater & the way to get to Icicle Inn; meet Shera, maybe get a Vincent flashback sequence before he joins the party officially. First major boss will be the fight with Palmer where he gets run over by a car at the end.
i coulda sworn Rebirth was made using UE5, just the detail of the landscape, all the foliage, global illumination, world chunk streaming all scream UE5 features (nanite, lumen, *whatever the world streaming feature is called*, and the special nanite update for foliage LOD) Its very impressive that they were able to make a game that looks like this and runs this *relatively* performant-ish using the older UE
The fact that a remake of a game that so many people already know inside and out can still make people question what *exactly* is going to happen next is quite an impressive feat, whatever flaws there might be in the telling. I cannot wait.
One thing u don't really get in the OG is that u never get how famous cloud and the crew gets but in rebirth u can see how cloud is a sort of celeb like sepuroth is well known in reunion

As someone who never played the OG FF7, Rebirth is one of my favorite games ever. Almost 100 hours of playtime, finished the main story with no plans to platinum, still having a hard time deleting it from my PS5 😭

Final Fantasy 7: Reunion Tour! Cloud and the gang are back for a non-stop action pack around the world party! EVERYONE'S INVITED! GET RE-ENERGIZED, REVAMPED, REEDUCATED, AND REDACTED cuz this statement is yet to get REDUNDANT.
I think the trilogy is LITERALLY a sequel to advent children: from the first game you can clearly tell that Aerith and Sephiroth knew what was going to happen in the future and by challenging fate multiple timelines were created so there’s a chance to see Aerith back in the third game in fact she’s alive in Zack’s timeline. Anything is possible with Nomura and the writers.
They say it will leads to Advent Children by the end of the day, NOT A SEQUEL TO.. ….BUT, from when time time Advent Children was released back then, there’s always one thing that always bothered me all these years, the final line delivered by Sephiroth before transforming back to Kadaj. “I will not be just a memory” It always feels to me that there will be another “Sephiroth plot” after Advent Children. But years came and went, the only thing we get next chronologically in the game timeline is Dirge of Cerberus, which does not deal with Sephiroth at all…. Then after the long wait Remake came and hey things began to take turn as if it might be the “I will not only be memory” thing spoken by Sephiroth at the end of AC? So it might indeed be A SEQUEL to Advent Children!? But then again I heard the dev said it will leads to AC, so I’m like Cloud now, not knowing which one is this world we’re in? 😵💫
I LOVE the ending of Rebirth, and whilst a little impact of a particular moment is lost, the build up and aftermath felt like being an emotional punching bag... which is exactly what I wanted and it needed to be. Until we get the definitive answers in the final part I'm taking events at face value which makes things a lot simpler for me.
Reunion left me speechless again and again and again and again. I'm absolutely enamoured by it. I'm so bummed out that there's a chance I won't play part 3 due to some personal issues. But I'll try my god damn best.
I’d like to see them revisit the trilogy remastered for UE5 when it’s done to fix some of the blemishes of the original (particularly in remake, but there are obviously some problems in rebirth). I’d buy it again.
Part 3 will be called REUNION. I know they used Reunion for Crisis Core, but that's Crisis Core Reunion. They can absolutely use that again for Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. I know people are saying "Reunite" but "reunion" just hits the best.
That would be an absolute mess. There would be a large number of people who just wouldn’t know the difference between Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion and Final Fantasy VII Reunion.
All i'll add to this conversation is that if parts one and two are going to end with open to interpretation sequences that can be confusing to some people and leave you with more questions than answers then the third and final part needs to have a definitive, satisfying resolution where we know exactly what has happened and where the characters end up. I dont want to be left at the end of a 30 year journey trying to figure out wtf i just watched.
I just want to throw out a theory on the next game's name and why I believe so. Final Fantasy VII: Reset. Why "Reset"? Well, for one thing, it starts with "Re". I think we can assume that whatever the title will be, it will have those two letters at the beginning. Furthermore, the name has to mean something to the wider plot. Remake was about the story being remade to fit Sephiroth's desire while Rebirth was him emerging back into the wider world. The final game has to complete the story with a definitive victory. Something that was absent ultimately in the OG PSX title. In Remake, there was a whisper memory of Red XIII 500 years in the future and someone remarks (I can't remember if it was Red or Aerith) that that was a view of them failing. So again, why "Reset"? Simply because that is exactly what one ad from 1997 told us. What was probably the most played ad for FFVII back then ends with the line, "If you fail, you can always hit the reset button." Remake was the press, Reset will be the success.
Since Remake and Rebirth both have creative roots I think it is far more likely that Revise or Restore might be titles depending on what they want players to go into the game thinking it is going to be about.
Of the ones above Reunite seems quite in-theme, but since the game is supposed to serve as the conclusion to the entire saga, something like Resolution could be a good option.
Just finished it.. 89 hours.. still loads more to see.. absolutely loved. As a game it’s up there with my favourite games of all time. The ending for me. I loved it. Confusing? Completely.. did I want that! Yeah I kinda did!
Rebirth was just sad from start to finish. Cloud was breaking down the whole time, he tried to kill Tifa, tried to kill Aerith, and became a straight up rude jerk that was miserable to be around. Tifa was depressed the whole time, and her condition constantly got worse. The only piece of her life left is Cloud, and read above for how he is. Barret was miserable for most of the story, especially with the Dyne stuff. Aerith felt like she was faking a smile for the whole game because she knew what was going to happen and couldn't tell anyone. The sidequests gave flashbacks of everyone dealing with loss and sadness, the trials at the Temple of the Ancients were heartbreaking. This might be the overall saddest game I've ever played.
@paleriderpalehorse55 I've played the OG a lot. It was heavy, but it never felt as grim as the remake series so far to me. The remake series has really turned up Cloud's struggle, and he hasn't even hit bottom yet.
It also hits hard, knowing Tifa is now alone with a mentally unstable Cloud. I feel like Aerith was a huge relief for Tifa, because she had someone to talk about Clouds weird behaviour. Now that Aerith is gone, Tifa must feel so bad.
@@lazygamer4746 I feel like the Remake series has missed out on some truly dark moments in the OG that would absolutely be unacceptable by today's standards. For example, after the Temple of the Ancients in the OG, Cloud doesn't just chase after Aeris to get the Black Materia, he legit goes insane and actually physically tackles Aeris and starts punching her repeatedly in the face. This is the last time Cloud ever actually sees her in person, and it shows how far he's fallen to someone else's control in the OG. Now imagine that, but with Remake graphics. That would be far worse than anything Remake/Rebirth has delivered so far, but they won't do that because of modern ethics and the outrage throughout the community if they see Cloud assaulting a woman that brutally.
@user-ns5xb5ym8k I agree with you. The way Dyne goes out is also made a little more comfortable for modern players. The Aerith scene you spoke of would be terrible with remake graphics. Cloud would be irredeemable after that. With the OG graphics it was almost necessary to get across such a strong emotion from players. Everything had to be exaggerated. Which is probably why it doesn't feel as grim as the remake. Also the voice acting.
Loved rebirth. The ending is mad with all these different worlds coming and going. Due to that. Feels like the last game has to be called reunion. Not just the jenova cells, the worlds all coming together. ‘Resolution’ made sense to me as this game needs one!
She really needs to rejoin the party for several reasons: She is the heart of the party, the most valuable important member. She has some of the best party interactions. I'm sorry but Vincent and Cid are tonally too similar (brooding dudebros) and bring no positivity and genuine concern like Aerith. She has a unique combat role nobody else can fill. We already know what it's like to lose her for the last 3rd of the game from the OG. Don't retread that, do something new. The player still understands she is lost in several timelines, thus the loss theme is intact.
I was crossing my fingers the entire time before the last chapter in Rebirth to have Aerith playable in part 3. I really wanted her to have more interactions with Cid and Vincent, not to mention, synergy skills too. I hope she comes back as a playable member too. But the way things ended in Rebirth.
Agreed on the "every theory sucks" there is a willingness from the devs to get confusion and debates around what happened. Sure, some will prefer one conclusion to another for various valid reasons (attachment to a character in particular, preference for overall game themes, attachment to the OG...), but at this stage it's all up in the air and very deliberate to give more incentive to check out how Part 3 ties it all up. Hopefully they aim at the 30 years anniversary mark, but i'll say let them cook and not rush so we get the best possible game. Waiting sucks, be we were warned

Next one will won't have Aerith with the party and all the sweet friendship moments with her, plus the kind tone she brings. Instead we get 2 brooding dudebros, and a bunch of battle scenes with Wutai and Weapons. I think part 3 will sell far worse than Rebirth. Many FF fans don't enjoy it when it goes dark in tone. I expect SE knows the selling prospects are far lower with part 3, and they will rush it out. The biggest mystery is now solved. The answer they chose was 'lets confuse everyone and not commit to anything' after teasing for literally years things will be different from the OG. Bottom line is Aerith isn't with the party, so for most intents and purposes she is as good as dead.
I completely agree with that Tifa scene at the end. I had a theory too but Tifa's scene doesn't add to it. But that means I will be surprised by part 3 so I am really happy about not knowing. I just hope that Part 3 will answer all the questions and have a real closure. No opened ending please!
I agree that the confusion is intentional. Cloud mimics the player's confusion. Mark my words, Chapter 1 of part 3 is going to be extremely dark. They've saved the gut punch for part 3 so the wound is fresh for the rest of that game. Instead of giving us the 3 or 4 years to cool off and move on. That's why they employed confusion here, injecting a small bit of hope to take it away completely in part 3.
Part 3 will be called “Realize” to point out Cloud has to realize that he’s off his nuts completely now, and because it rhymes with Ehrgeiz and thus making it canon.

The character blocking was so bad and introduction of new abilities for zack was a shame. But overall, it was great. I also have concerns with the final boss fight for 3rd addition. Did max do his wishlist yet for 3rd entry? Here is mine: 1) mid action tag in/out of player controlled characters would be great. 2) some more support from not in combat characters that are apart of the party. 3) Final limitbreaks/weapons locked behind quests/story related requirements. 4) Vincent having access to all his transformations. Maybe changing up his unqiue action based on transformation. 5) Cid being Cid. Jumps, dynamite, and highwind. Many things to look forward to.
I’ve heard alot of people talk about how the sky will be it’s own region in threemake; similar to the sea in rebirth with the pirate side quest. Sounds kinda cool in a tears of the kingdom kinda way haha 😅 What I haven’t seen yet is people talk about under the sea! Access to the broken regnika for the huge materia, finding the key to the ancients, fighting emerald weapon, these all took place under water with a submarine and nobody is mentioning about that vehicle whatsoever (that I can see{sea}). I get the highwind is a pivotal vehicle emotionally for cloud and aerith and cid himself. But the submarine is being out shadowed by that. In rebirth we see a potential mini game for snowboarding; but where’s the submarine mini game potential spot in the gold saucer? It’s almost like the whole community including the developers haven’t thought about it. the potential for an expansion on the pirate side quest too; wouldn’t it be great if we could see a sunken pirate ship underwater that reflects the pirate in rebirths side quest. Being able to collect items specific to crafting; only found under the sea. Why is nobody talking about this?

Considering remake left you with confusion I say they did a good job.

You don't name your big huge game the same as your spinoff game unless you want to create a confusing mess with online search metrics, so it's completely off the table. - For Chadley to have less interrupting dialogue during gameplay and between entering/exiting the simulator (or give us the option to access the menu through the simulator screen)
- For endgame challenges/minigames to have a lower difficulty option (I just want a platinum trophy without having to sacrifice my mental health and carpal tunnel)
- A DEFINITIVE ending for the story (not another KH3 situation where the "conclusion" brought more questions than answers and ended on a cliffhanger)
If they add these + simply copy/paste the mechanics of this game on new maps, it'll be an instant 10/10 for me.
Minigames do scale with the games difficulty. I had to put it down to easy to beat Fort Condor.
I definitely want that definitive ending the most.

To be fair, KH3 did end the Xehanorth arc. Sora's disapperance is part of the new Lost Master Arc. An entirely new story going forward.

in mathematics and statistics there's a famous saying that "all models are wrong, but some are useful" meaning that it's highly likely that every statistical model we use is missing something fundamental to the understanding of the topic we're trying to study, but we don't know what it is so we can't include it, anyway.
I feel VERY similarly about theories for this game. so many of the elements in the ending seem so contrary to each other that it feels like all theories are wrong, but some are useful. i also think it's very fun to theorize, anyway, regardless of the amount or type of evidence we've been given :)
I don't see why the ending is vague. If you actually played the rebirth, you already know why Zack is brought back and dev's intention is made load and clear with Marlene. This time, in the final game, Zack will be working with Tifa to retrive Cloud's true memory or ability. In which form? I don't know. But When that happens Could will be awake before Aerith did in slum 5 and this time he will truly save her from the infinite death loop she's been stuck with. There is basically no denial that she will be brought back to life in the final game and there is so many hints on it. Two theme songs, Hollow, NPTK, the Loveless show, fellas, memory flashing, transparent material, and most crucially the multi universe setting. The devs added all these new stuff into the trilogy for only one goal: to finally save Aerith this time.
I truly hope is this way😭😭 also i dont see point going through all this new things if it ends up the same!
@@jenferrier6724 We all know that the sell number of the rebirth is horrible. Imagine having Aerith dead again in the final game. Without a strong selling point this time, like "Aerith is brought to life after 30 years", It will be a commercial disaster for SE. By the way, I believe they made up their mind to save Aerith back in 2015. Otherwise, there won't be so many hints embedded in the first game already. The bad sells number just made them double down on their previous decisions.

Items will be renamed to include Reno in the description such as Reno Potion and Reno Cushion. Even Reno will be Reno.

to echo what he said at the end of this one, the theory crafting is especially challenging in rebirth because it is like there's at least one or two bits that seem to debunk almost every theory i've heard, while with remake it felt like a lot more was left for interpretation. almost like the meta is a challenging mini-game in and of itself lol. But it's WEIRD for people to get angry or toxic about a theory, especially since Max's was a little outside the box but linked to literally chapter 1 to a degree where it's like OMG you might be onto something... Video game fans do not cope well with painful stories.
that said, I'm still processing it all, still thinking about it daily, I think it might be my all-time favorite game. maybe not THE BEST game ever, but maybe my favorite, and i love talking about it.
Came to this video to post the same sentiment. Long time fan of 7 and I follow Max purely because I see the same excitement from him that my brother and I get playing the game and speculating. It’s just cool knowing other people enjoy what I’ve enjoyed and I hope they don’t make him feel a need to back away.

It's 100% going to be just like the OG in that you get the brunt of the story in the last part of the game. I'm looking forward to what they do with the underwater traversal. I also cannot wait for Rocket Town and Wutai.
Since Rebirth is 2 discs and considering how much was not included in it, they'll have a huge open world with so much content for part 3 that it seems highly likely it'll be 3 or 4 discs easily and lead up to an incredible ending after all this time. Either way, I loved Rebirth and definitely hope to be alive to finish the trilogy.

I'm right there with you man. When I started playing rebirth, I 100% thought we would be getting new weapon abilities. As I was going through the game slowly getting disappointed to learn it was just a couple of new abilities per character except for Cait and Red.

The most fun part of Midgar assault was how many busted items we picked up while doing almost a boss rush. It's going to be a crazy huge set piece dungeon, Maybe even longer than Temple of the Aincents and I'm all about it.
That's simple. Starting anew with all new abilities would be difficult as you'd have to come up with several different abilities that aren't the same as the one before while also allowing the character to perform certain actions that the old abilities allowed to. Starting with all the old abilities and add new ones would be too chaotic
Ff15 walked so ff7 remake could run. It was a game that was an experiment. Look at how it paid off. Absolutely incredible

Rebirth's world was very big AND dense with a fantastic mix of varied activities with SOME mild repetition- hopefully Chadley doesn't fuck up and lose all that World Intel the way everyone lost their weapons and materia on the way to Kalm, only for Johnny to pick them all up and hang them on the walls of his Hotel

Actually, I was thinking a couple of days ago about how part 3 might BEGIN, since it makes sense to start out with a refresher tutorial. It does make sense to have the game start with Yuffie stealing all materia and then gain some back gradually. At the end of the first chapter, Yuffie could give some tips on how to link different materia....doesn't seem too illogical, no?

The Midgar assault teams feel set already with Cloud, Tifa, Vincent and Red going after Hojo and his wacky experiments. Then Barret (Finally getting his true leader moment), Yuffie, Cait Sith and Cid going after the military led by Scarlet, Heidigger and The Turks.
That should lead to some satisfying character resolutions where members other than Cloud get to finish their personal vendettas.
If the team you take to fight Hojo isn’t locked in as Cloud, Nanaki and Vincent I’d be shocked.
If it isn’t then it should absolutely be those 3.

There's a Interview with Hamaguchi That he talks about How important is that you get confused and create theories as a community, the reason being that the next game won't come out for a few years, so is good that people keep talking about It for a long time.

The theorycrafting is a lot of fun; they're clearly going for something very different using the original story beats, and Rebirth's entire endgame has me INTRIGUED. I think what they're doing is super interesting and I'm gonna let them cook so they hopefully stick the landing in Part 3. It's hard to judge this game from a story perspective without having the whole picture, but I can tell Part 3's gonna be CRAZY.
I also can't wait for Genesis to make his triumphant return in the next game as part of the Neo Turks: Reunion with Nero and Weiss!!!

I personally saw it as tifa seeing what’s real and the bloodless aerith is cloud tweaking. Even when cloud walks up to aerith at the end while everyone is grieving she’s originally on her side but when cloud looks at her she’s on her back peacefully where he left her. Just food for thought

I honestly believe there will be a significant period where Cloud actually becomes an antagonist you fight against. Between not mourning Aerith’s death (and he knows she died) at all, hiding the black materia in his sword, and fighting alongside Zack who is key to bringing back his memories, Cloud’s sense of identity is hanging on by a thread.
Sephiroth has manipulated Cloud’s mind and heart so much that when he breaks him Cloud will not fall into the lifestream and become catatonic, but truly become a puppet of Sephiroth. Which is why I hope you play as both Tifa and Zack for a time because the only people who can heal Cloud’s mind a d spirit are those 2.
Calling it now: The next game starts in Rocket Town, where we'll learn about the Northern Crater & the way to get to Icicle Inn; meet Shera, maybe get a Vincent flashback sequence before he joins the party officially. First major boss will be the fight with Palmer where he gets run over by a car at the end.
i coulda sworn Rebirth was made using UE5, just the detail of the landscape, all the foliage, global illumination, world chunk streaming all scream UE5 features (nanite, lumen, *whatever the world streaming feature is called*, and the special nanite update for foliage LOD) Its very impressive that they were able to make a game that looks like this and runs this *relatively* performant-ish using the older UE
It's a modified version of UE4, just like FF16 used the same engine as 14 but looks so much better

As someone who never played the OG FF7, Rebirth is one of my favorite games ever. Almost 100 hours of playtime, finished the main story with no plans to platinum, still having a hard time deleting it from my PS5 😭

I think the trilogy is LITERALLY a sequel to advent children: from the first game you can clearly tell that Aerith and Sephiroth knew what was going to happen in the future and by challenging fate multiple timelines were created so there’s a chance to see Aerith back in the third game in fact she’s alive in Zack’s timeline.
Anything is possible with Nomura and the writers.

….BUT, from when time time Advent Children was released back then, there’s always one thing that always bothered me all these years, the final line delivered by Sephiroth before transforming back to Kadaj.
“I will not be just a memory”
It always feels to me that there will be another “Sephiroth plot” after Advent Children.
But years came and went, the only thing we get next chronologically in the game timeline is Dirge of Cerberus, which does not deal with Sephiroth at all….
Then after the long wait Remake came and hey things began to take turn as if it might be the “I will not only be memory” thing spoken by Sephiroth at the end of AC?
So it might indeed be A SEQUEL to Advent Children!?
But then again I heard the dev said it will leads to AC, so I’m like Cloud now, not knowing which one is this world we’re in? 😵💫
I LOVE the ending of Rebirth, and whilst a little impact of a particular moment is lost, the build up and aftermath felt like being an emotional punching bag... which is exactly what I wanted and it needed to be. Until we get the definitive answers in the final part I'm taking events at face value which makes things a lot simpler for me.

Reunion left me speechless again and again and again and again. I'm absolutely enamoured by it. I'm so bummed out that there's a chance I won't play part 3 due to some personal issues. But I'll try my god damn best.

I’d like to see them revisit the trilogy remastered for UE5 when it’s done to fix some of the blemishes of the original (particularly in remake, but there are obviously some problems in rebirth). I’d buy it again.
I think the Third game for FF7R project is gonna be Reclaim. Reclaim makes a lot of sense contextually too. Himself, Aerith, the planet, Etc.
Part 3 will be called REUNION. I know they used Reunion for Crisis Core, but that's Crisis Core Reunion. They can absolutely use that again for Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. I know people are saying "Reunite" but "reunion" just hits the best.
I feel like “Reunite” is just better not only because Reunion is already used. But it’s the same format I guess with “Remake” and “Rebirth” idk tho

But they already used Reunion for Crisis Core. It’d be redundant, not to mention ruin the anticipation for the next and final title.
That would be an absolute mess. There would be a large number of people who just wouldn’t know the difference between Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion and Final Fantasy VII Reunion.
All i'll add to this conversation is that if parts one and two are going to end with open to interpretation sequences that can be confusing to some people and leave you with more questions than answers then the third and final part needs to have a definitive, satisfying resolution where we know exactly what has happened and where the characters end up. I dont want to be left at the end of a 30 year journey trying to figure out wtf i just watched.
Unless they want to make an actual Final Fantasy VII-2 going into the Advent Children / Dirge of Ceberus time period.
I just want to throw out a theory on the next game's name and why I believe so. Final Fantasy VII: Reset.
Why "Reset"? Well, for one thing, it starts with "Re". I think we can assume that whatever the title will be, it will have those two letters at the beginning. Furthermore, the name has to mean something to the wider plot. Remake was about the story being remade to fit Sephiroth's desire while Rebirth was him emerging back into the wider world. The final game has to complete the story with a definitive victory. Something that was absent ultimately in the OG PSX title. In Remake, there was a whisper memory of Red XIII 500 years in the future and someone remarks (I can't remember if it was Red or Aerith) that that was a view of them failing.
So again, why "Reset"? Simply because that is exactly what one ad from 1997 told us. What was probably the most played ad for FFVII back then ends with the line, "If you fail, you can always hit the reset button." Remake was the press, Reset will be the success.
sounds cool but it gives out way too much on where the mystery of the story is leading us.
Since Remake and Rebirth both have creative roots I think it is far more likely that Revise or Restore might be titles depending on what they want players to go into the game thinking it is going to be about.

Of the ones above Reunite seems quite in-theme, but since the game is supposed to serve as the conclusion to the entire saga, something like Resolution could be a good option.
Just finished it.. 89 hours.. still loads more to see.. absolutely loved. As a game it’s up there with my favourite games of all time. The ending for me. I loved it. Confusing? Completely.. did I want that! Yeah I kinda did!
Rebirth was just sad from start to finish. Cloud was breaking down the whole time, he tried to kill Tifa, tried to kill Aerith, and became a straight up rude jerk that was miserable to be around.
Tifa was depressed the whole time, and her condition constantly got worse. The only piece of her life left is Cloud, and read above for how he is.
Barret was miserable for most of the story, especially with the Dyne stuff.
Aerith felt like she was faking a smile for the whole game because she knew what was going to happen and couldn't tell anyone.
The sidequests gave flashbacks of everyone dealing with loss and sadness, the trials at the Temple of the Ancients were heartbreaking. This might be the overall saddest game I've ever played.
The next one will surely be heavier

I've played the OG a lot. It was heavy, but it never felt as grim as the remake series so far to me. The remake series has really turned up Cloud's struggle, and he hasn't even hit bottom yet.
It also hits hard, knowing Tifa is now alone with a mentally unstable Cloud. I feel like Aerith was a huge relief for Tifa, because she had someone to talk about Clouds weird behaviour. Now that Aerith is gone, Tifa must feel so bad.
@@lazygamer4746 I feel like the Remake series has missed out on some truly dark moments in the OG that would absolutely be unacceptable by today's standards.
For example, after the Temple of the Ancients in the OG, Cloud doesn't just chase after Aeris to get the Black Materia, he legit goes insane and actually physically tackles Aeris and starts punching her repeatedly in the face. This is the last time Cloud ever actually sees her in person, and it shows how far he's fallen to someone else's control in the OG.
Now imagine that, but with Remake graphics. That would be far worse than anything Remake/Rebirth has delivered so far, but they won't do that because of modern ethics and the outrage throughout the community if they see Cloud assaulting a woman that brutally.

I agree with you. The way Dyne goes out is also made a little more comfortable for modern players. The Aerith scene you spoke of would be terrible with remake graphics. Cloud would be irredeemable after that. With the OG graphics it was almost necessary to get across such a strong emotion from players. Everything had to be exaggerated. Which is probably why it doesn't feel as grim as the remake. Also the voice acting.
Loved rebirth. The ending is mad with all these different worlds coming and going. Due to that. Feels like the last game has to be called reunion. Not just the jenova cells, the worlds all coming together.
‘Resolution’ made sense to me as this game needs one!
I just wonder if Aerith will come back as playable like half way through part 3.
She really needs to rejoin the party for several reasons: She is the heart of the party, the most valuable important member. She has some of the best party interactions. I'm sorry but Vincent and Cid are tonally too similar (brooding dudebros) and bring no positivity and genuine concern like Aerith. She has a unique combat role nobody else can fill. We already know what it's like to lose her for the last 3rd of the game from the OG. Don't retread that, do something new. The player still understands she is lost in several timelines, thus the loss theme is intact.
I was crossing my fingers the entire time before the last chapter in Rebirth to have Aerith playable in part 3. I really wanted her to have more interactions with Cid and Vincent, not to mention, synergy skills too. I hope she comes back as a playable member too. But the way things ended in Rebirth.
The ending of Rebirth just tells me one thing: they’re about to go so off the rails in the 3rd part 😂😂😂
Agreed on the "every theory sucks" there is a willingness from the devs to get confusion and debates around what happened. Sure, some will prefer one conclusion to another for various valid reasons (attachment to a character in particular, preference for overall game themes, attachment to the OG...), but at this stage it's all up in the air and very deliberate to give more incentive to check out how Part 3 ties it all up. Hopefully they aim at the 30 years anniversary mark, but i'll say let them cook and not rush so we get the best possible game. Waiting sucks, be we were warned
They want to keep the game in the narrative until the next game, with fans making videos and arguing theories. The problem is they jumped the shark so hard nobody cares. So we're left with both a bad story AND poor fan engagement. Should have hired real writers. I'll buy part 3 but not at all because of the overall story. Next one will won't have Aerith with the party and all the sweet friendship moments with her, plus the kind tone she brings. Instead we get 2 brooding dudebros, and a bunch of battle scenes with Wutai and Weapons. I think part 3 will sell far worse than Rebirth. Many FF fans don't enjoy it when it goes dark in tone. I expect SE knows the selling prospects are far lower with part 3, and they will rush it out. The biggest mystery is now solved. The answer they chose was 'lets confuse everyone and not commit to anything' after teasing for literally years things will be different from the OG. Bottom line is Aerith isn't with the party, so for most intents and purposes she is as good as dead.
I completely agree with that Tifa scene at the end. I had a theory too but Tifa's scene doesn't add to it. But that means I will be surprised by part 3 so I am really happy about not knowing. I just hope that Part 3 will answer all the questions and have a real closure. No opened ending please!
I predict that when Cloud regains his memories in part 3 we will get a flashback of Sephiroth killing Aerith like in the original game

I agree that the confusion is intentional. Cloud mimics the player's confusion. Mark my words, Chapter 1 of part 3 is going to be extremely dark. They've saved the gut punch for part 3 so the wound is fresh for the rest of that game. Instead of giving us the 3 or 4 years to cool off and move on. That's why they employed confusion here, injecting a small bit of hope to take it away completely in part 3.
Part 3 will be called “Realize” to point out Cloud has to realize that he’s off his nuts completely now, and because it rhymes with Ehrgeiz and thus making it canon.
Cloud is going to have a massive nervous breakdown.. we all know it's coming. It will be heartbreaking.

Whats the point of "Defying fate" at the end of the first game; if everything happens almost exactly the same in the sequel...
I feel like after the backlash from the ending of REMAKE they scaled back the alternate story stuff, to the point that it feels really odd.
Defying fate was mostly abt preventing the future where sephiroth drops the meteor. The ff7remake completely show this event near the end of the game.

"Every theory sucks" Thank you Max. I completely agree. Every theory is giving me a headache because nothing factually fits. And yes the Tifa-sees-multiple-timeline scene at the end, speaks volumes too.
The character blocking was so bad and introduction of new abilities for zack was a shame. But overall, it was great. I also have concerns with the final boss fight for 3rd addition.
Did max do his wishlist yet for 3rd entry? Here is mine:
1) mid action tag in/out of player controlled characters would be great.
2) some more support from not in combat characters that are apart of the party.
3) Final limitbreaks/weapons locked behind quests/story related requirements.
4) Vincent having access to all his transformations. Maybe changing up his unqiue action based on transformation.
5) Cid being Cid. Jumps, dynamite, and highwind.
Many things to look forward to.
Still waiting to hear about that ending info theory Max got from someone he was too afraid to bring up on stream. I WANNA KNOW MAX!
I love how messed up Cloud is in the end. Like he feel so much more fucked up than he was in original at this point of story and I think it's awesome.

I’ve heard alot of people talk about how the sky will be it’s own region in threemake; similar to the sea in rebirth with the pirate side quest. Sounds kinda cool in a tears of the kingdom kinda way haha 😅
What I haven’t seen yet is people talk about under the sea! Access to the broken regnika for the huge materia, finding the key to the ancients, fighting emerald weapon, these all took place under water with a submarine and nobody is mentioning about that vehicle whatsoever (that I can see{sea}).
I get the highwind is a pivotal vehicle emotionally for cloud and aerith and cid himself. But the submarine is being out shadowed by that. In rebirth we see a potential mini game for snowboarding; but where’s the submarine mini game potential spot in the gold saucer? It’s almost like the whole community including the developers haven’t thought about it. the potential for an expansion on the pirate side quest too; wouldn’t it be great if we could see a sunken pirate ship underwater that reflects the pirate in rebirths side quest. Being able to collect items specific to crafting; only found under the sea.
Why is nobody talking about this?
