    Very helpful video. Thank you! Our daughter is playing 10U this year. She's outgrown her 28" bat from last year. Her coaches recommend a 31" bat, the sizing charts recommend a 30" bat for her. We ended up going with a 31" drop 11 Ghost composite bat thinking it would be a better long term investment. Hopefully she can get a few seasons out of it.

      I wouldn’t say go out and buy 2 new bats but if you happen to have 2 (an old one and new one) use the old one for cage work so the new one can last longer

      My daughter has a bat she uses for games and practice. However that bat is never used in the cage. She uses a CamWood, 2 other wood bats and an old Ghost bat (same size and weight as her gamer) for her cage work. The wood bats are heavier than the Ghost.

    Awesome video, thank you for the information. My daughter is in 10u also, she is about 4'9, 86 pounds, but she will not move on from her 29/18 2021 Demarini CF. This has helped me alot with us making a decision on a new bat and what we should go swing before we purchase. Should i get a camwood to help develop strenghth? Also Meg, my daughter is a huge fan and loves your videos. Wish you had a informal podcast.

      I’m glad this was helpful! I’m glad you and your daughter follow along!
      I’m all for a Camwood! The hands and speed trainer really helps with correct hand path since the weight is right above the hands, all while increasing bat speed. If you do decide to go that route, you can use code megrem for a discount.

      How does the bat perform for your daughter. My daughter is a 10U also around the same size and I'm looking into the CF in a 30/20 or 30/19. Right now she has a Zenith 29/16 and has a hard time getting the ball past the infield. Timing and mechanics are sound but right now the ball is over powering her bat.

    Great content as always!! How do you know when to make the change to a bigger bat? Daughter is 5’ & 91 pounds currently swinging a 30”-11. The bat charts have her right on the edge of a 30” and 31”. Almost time for a new bat but worried a 31”-10 would be a big adjustment. Thoughts?

    Great video! He mentions that you should only use higher end bats during games. Does that mean if you have 1 of those you should also have a practice bat? Would you then get a similar, but less expensive bat i.e. same length/drop, material, etc, but just less expensive?

    • @MegRemSoftball
      @MegRemSoftball  Рік тому +1

      If you have an old bat that is similar weight, us that for off the machine or live at practice. Not everyone has that luxury though. If you can find a cheaper bat that is similar size that is ideal!

    So one statement says if she’s early or late the don’t mean the bat is to big or to small but the next statement says that one day she will face a faster pitcher and she will struggle. Kinda new to softball but that confusing.

      Some parents will immediately jump to a new size bat because they believe their daughters bat is too big but in reality, it's just their timing that is off. Or parents believe just because the girl is getting older, it means they need a bigger bat which isn't necessarily true either.

      My daughter is a similar size, 5’7”. She has swung a 33 -9 age 13-16. I am debating a drop 8 but will likely keep her on a 33-9 all the way through HS. She has swung an LXT drop 9 since 2021. Both LXT bats have been great and I should probably keep her on one, but am curious to see how she will perform with something else.
      I am looking to move her to the Ghost Advanced or Mantra 3.0 but can’t make up my mind. Cheers.

    My daughter turns 15 next week, freshman in high school, has been swinging a 33 -10 with good success for a while now (power hitter). She is 5'8" and probably 165-170lbs. In purchasing a new bat, we don't have the opportunity to test different ones locally (-10 is the lowest drop you'll see in stores, and 33" is the longest), I have been trying to decide if going 33 -9 or 34 -10 would be to her advantage in gaining that extra power. I don't foresee jumping to a 34 -9 yet from what she's been swinging, and she's been happy with 33 -10 (but again, no ability for her to compare with anything else locally). Recommendations?

    • @MegRemSoftball
      @MegRemSoftball  9 місяців тому

      Does she need a different size? 33/23 isn’t a bad size for her size. If she thinks it’s too light, I would go 33 drop 9 but she may not need to do that.

    Great information, but it would serve a broader audience if you approached this assuming people don't know much about bats. For example, a bat with a larger drop number is lighter and a smaller number is heavier. More explanation from a raw, beginner's point of view would be better. You do such a great job of that in your tutorials.

    Never go higher than drop 10. Softball bats are fragile anyway. Stronger girls, drop 9. 32 inch for small girls, 33 for average and 34 for bigger girls. How is this a 20 minute video? This could literally all be covered in a short.

    • @MegRemSoftball
      @MegRemSoftball  Рік тому +17

      It’s 20 minutes because of what you just shared. We went over common misconceptions, that clearly need explained. For example, I would not have most 8-10 year olds swinging a 32.
      Drop 11 is very common for younger, smaller kids.

      @jeramiahmcmahon9057 Рік тому

      Under 12u the bat doesn't matter. Swing what is comfortable. There isn't enough strength or skill developed yet to warrant investing in a good durable bat anyway.

    • @MegRemSoftball

      @@jeramiahmcmahon9057 size of a bat matters. Not quite sure why you are preaching it doesn't. I am not talking about brands. I am talking about size. Way too many times I see younger girls trying to swing too heavy of bats.
