Hi Deidre I have put napkins on candles like you did. It works really well and no wrinkles either. I’d do it again. It was a few years ago that I did it. Thinking about it I made a lantern as well so I used faux candles so my daughter could burn her candles safely. Love all you did, TFS.
A small tip: get a cardboard box and put it on a table with the opening towards you. Get a turntable wheel from an old microwave and put it in the box cut yourself a piece of cardboard round big enough for your project and put it on top of the microwave thing what fits in the box Put your project on top of the circle and you made yourself a spray paint box.
Yes I have made dozens of the candles using heat to decoupage. They are beautiful and easy and I absolutely love doing it. However there is one very important caution! They can catch on fire as the candle burns down and exposes the paper along the edge of candle. I mean real flames not just a smolder. 😮 NEVER leave one of these burning unattended! EVER!
I have never had an issue, but if you’re concerned, just burn it down until there’s a well deep enough that you can put a votive in and then just replace the votive
@@OurUpcycledLife Thank you Deidre. If you've burned them without an issue that's good to know. I'll make sure to use a larger candle when I try this. I love the idea!
wrapping the candle with a napkin and fusing it with the heat gun and waxed paper wasn't a bad idea, but the pedistal plate with the contact paper wood look, sucked. you can't put anything of worth on that becasue your pedistal is too small, not enough lower are to support anything on that. I noticed the item you did put on it was close to the center and flowers aren't much but even cupcakes would be too heavy for that. and vinyl contact paper just looks cheap.

Glad you like them!
I printed a photo onto tissue paper and used the same method to attach it to a pillar candle. It came out beautiful
Wonderful!
Wow you just put tissue paper in you’re regular printer?
You tape a piece of tissue paper to a piece of card stock and then put it in the printer. Then remove it from the card stock and decoupage.

I love the candle idea. I have one question, is there a worry of the napkin catching fire when it burns to that level?
