At timestamp @15:55 is that using android auto? or was that on its own interface. Also how is the USB connection? Was it fast charging? did it even charge when you are connecting and using it at the same time. Some of these radios the charge rate is awful. If it was android auto can you show some more of that, like how it responds when you receive a text a message.
Good thing I saw this video it was about to completely change my Jeep with a double damn this makes it so much easier thank you 2!!!

I love the one you show (radio) in this video, but when I go to the site I can not find the one with the knobs on each side. All I see is the flat screen. Help??
So the link I put is the one I ordered. I think the image for the product is out of date. I'm glad I got the one with the physical buttons. I went ahead and emailed them so they can fix it

@@GaragecoupleThere is no way to do that because you never give the model number. I could not find it on their site. They must ship from China. This really looks like a half-baked product.
Can you change the backlighting color from green to something else? I've seen similar models online that offer this function, and I was wondering if this unit had that capability. Thanks!

Too bad that thing is an android. I do like the old OEM RB1 with nav from Chrysler that works in these as 1.5 Din with nav.
To be honest, we're pretty hard-core android people.. worked out.
When I saw that the Kenwood head unit was hardwired I was thinking oh no! I can't believe the new one used the same molex plug from the Kenwood, I was surprised you didn't test it before reinstalling all the dash pieces (Greg lives life on the edge). As a safe keep I always electrical tape any plugs together like the GPS or hands free mic, btw how did the GPS work? Any interference being the antenna for the GPS was mounted under the dash? Great video and install!
Totally living on the edge! Everything works perfectly. Was a total breeze install lol.

@@Garagecouple only thing that’s holding me back from getting it is that I’m not sure if it really has real Apple car play, over all it does seem like a less appealing radio to thieves witch is a good thing vs having a larger 7” doubled in display.

That is a really cool head unit - when I need to upgrade mine (again...) that's what I'll go with! I use android auto on work vehicles and I just can't live without it now - feels so odd without it in my TJ (and my JL - but that's coming soon, haha!).

The link in your description takes me to a different unit (all touch screen, no knobs and buttons) than the one you installed (physical knobs and buttons). How did you get the one with physical knobs?
I’ve had the all touch one and didn’t like it off-road because it was a nightmare trying to land my finger exactly where I needed to on the screen while the Jeep was moving around from the uneven terrain. Physical knobs would’ve been much easier. I removed it and put a different unit in. If i could get the one you have, I would.
You're totally right! I think they haven't updated the image because the one we installed is the newer version. I ordered that exact link and this is the product I got. I agree. I love the physical buttons

@@sasukecruz2000 Delivery was 5 days. easy install. plug and play to the original harness. I had the original head unit in my LJ. Pro's the screen is very responsive with apple Carplay and it fits the oem dash. I dont use the head unit for anything but the Carplay. I did try to change the time and the KPH but could never find the setting. If you just use the carplay then it doesnt matter.

I think it would!
Nope. Its plugs are on top and it has air vents all over the box that contains the board. To get free stuff I guess they just blow smoke up our tailgates.
I am making a “Rain Hat” out of a washer fluid bottle and am mounting it like a dome so water will run off the sides and back of the radio and reduce the chance of getting as wet.
@debrasam5525 it's done fine for us with light rain! Anything heavier and it's time to put the top on

Does this have an Apple Car Play theme?
I bought one of those and I am happy with it. I have 2 problems. 1 - I cannot get the bass to work and 2 - I cannot figure out how to change it from kilometers per hour to miles per hour. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Glad you enjoy it! The units can be changed in the settings menu and as far as the bass I'm not sure. Ours works well. I'd play with the sound settings

To all the viewers, make sure the GPS attender location works before mounting it permanently . Once you stick it it's stuck.
It's not stuck. You can always move it after. No worries.

You do not! Its basically an android tablet and you can connect to it via Bluetooth

You might be able to download an app for carplay through the app store. We don't use apple
Curious how well the Bluetooth works for talking On the phone? Microphone work well and such ? Obviously it’s a Jeep. Thanks.
It works very well but like you mention, if you have a soft top and are traveling 50mph+ it won't sound well even if it's the best Bluetooth mic and speaker combo

Will this fit on a 2001? Can't find anything other than 2003-2006.
It will not because of the windshield wiper sprayers
