Its been almost a 2 year search (off & on) but finally placed the order tonight. A HUGE thank you to Amy and Allysa, I had alot of questions and they kindly answered them all. My wife says I researched this and am more excited for this than purchasing a new vehicle 🤣😂….she’s not wrong.
Just purchased my first espresso machine after a year of research. Thank you to WLL for their unparalleled reviews. Excited for my Synchronika 2! Edit: I understated how excited I actually am. Also came with a Varia AKU pro!
We bought a Synchronika from WLL in 2020 and the only notable issue is the plastic T that would break every year or so until we replaced it with a metal part. I'm glad to see this new model uses a brass T from the factory! Ours is still going strong but this looks like a good upgrade when the time comes.
Hey t, Thanks for the comment and your patronage! Yes, a few years back Profitec/ECM started using metal Ts for the internal moisture venting systems in all their machines. Marc
I recently bought the older Synchronika shortly after the II had been announced. I purposely picked the older one, because to me the fast heat up feature is not a significant advantage since I mostly make milk drinks and the steam boiler doesn’t heat up any faster with the new one. Mine has the fast heat up mode and it’s plenty fast for me. I usually turn the machine on when I wake up and by the time I’m ready for the day, the machine is ready as well. The new display is nice, but I really wanted a mostly old school mechanical machine (hence an E61 machine instead of something more digital). The old one is currently available for about $500 less than the new model. I’m very happy with my purchase.
The plastic t failed on my 2019 synchronika and steam leaked inside of the machine. I caught it early, and it was a very quick, cheap, and easy repair Marc is right when he says it easy to work on.
Hey tp, thanks for the comment. Super easy to work on. ECM was one of the first manufactures to pipe internal moisture to drip tray. Always innovating! All ECM/Profitec machines have replaced the "T" fittings with metal hardware. Just had a Profitec Move opened up today - same there. Marc

Great improvements but I wish the display would just show, both boiler temps and group temp all at the same time. I appreciate the aesthetic of the small display but it could have been made a tab bit larger to show all of that data. I have the original syn machine and I don’t like the flip flopping display.
Agreed with the screen being a bit bigger, however, I feel like they want to keep newer technology as minimal as possible to keep that Iconic and original look.

After using a Rancilio Classe 5 commercial machine in my home since 2016, I decided to buy a Profitec Pro 800 lever espresso machine. There is no way I would ever purchase another machine with all the complicated electronics and controls as seen in this video. Hey AH, thanks for sharing. You might adjust steam boiler temp to suit your frothing style? Some like all the pressure they can get. Others turn down the temp for less aggressive frothing and more time to work the milk. 2 minutes on a Classic seems really long! Just did some tests on the Classic last week. It took 35 seconds to heat 150ml/5oz fridge temp milk to 60C/140F. On the Classic there's a sweet spot for best steam power about 30 seconds after pushing the steam switch. Marc

Hi m, currently no trade-in program. The basic internal components of the Pro 700, Drive and original Synchronika are essentially the same. There have been some upgrades through years like boiler drains, updated serviceable OPVs, etc. Newer things are really about features like fast heating and additional (and easier to access) functions like programable pre-infusion, time of day on/off. Marc
I appreciate the fact that this doesn't make the Synchronika obsolete and it's all nice to have stuff. Btw somehow my Synchronika steam tank peessure goes to 2.5 moat of the time.
thank you for this video (Marc always on top!). Is it possible not to activate the steam function, that is to say not to heat the steam part boiler (we don't always need it)?
Hi bttb, yes, you can turn off the steam boiler in the settings. On the previous Symnchronika there was a switch behind the drip tray to turn of the steam boiler
They ship to Canada,so it is available in Canada as soon as it is on their website. I got an Eureka grinder from them and their customer service and shipping was topnotch.
I have owned the ECM Synchronika for three years now since my purchase from Whole Latte Love and this machine continues to amaze me and every single visitor that comes to my house. It's direct plumbing through the filter has also been trouble free. I can honestly vouch for ECM all day long. The brews haven't skipped a beat and reliability is exceptional. I'm glad to see the addition of the On/Off timer, the new digital screen and the fast pre-heating of the Synchronika II. Just made this machine perfect. My only wish, I wish they redesign the plastic drain tray at the bottom. Other than that, I probably intend to upgrade to this Synchronika II but not really a necessary upgrade as my machine has been flawless👌
Hey ken, Thanks for sharing your owner experience - and your patronage! It's my personal experience with the machine and comments like your which keep it at my favorite in its class. Marc
Great video! Maybe I missed it but is there a thermometer in the brew group to control the heating cartridge? How do you prevent the group from overheating?
I think it’s fair to say that Bezerra came out with an electronic group head heating element first but not on a E61. Wondering how the Bezerra Matrix DE or MN compare to the Synchronica 2. Seems like Becerra thought about if this features back in 2018.
Hi s, yes they've had the heated BZ group for awhile now. In Bezerra machines it's purpose is for brew temperature stability. In the Synchronika, it's unique because it's incorporated into an E61 group. It's function there is to help the machine be ready to brew faster - it's turned of once the machine is warmed up. Marc

Currently I’m more on the ECM side but I am considering the Profitec for the feature of external pressure control because I would like to experiment with light roast. Primarily I am drinking dark roast. Would you suggest the synchronika or the drive?
Hi m, You are welcome! At a base level the Synchronika II and Drive are nearly identical machines except for the cartridge heater in E61 group and rotary knob control of the Sync II. Both can do time programmable passive pre-infusion from line pressure. Drive comes stock with manual flow control of the E61 group. It's available as an upgrade on the Sync II. The Sync II has more refined finishing details. Hope that helps! Marc
In Australia, the ECM machine is almost $6000. My Breville dual boiler, had a tiny spring on the vacuum relief valve, so when the steam boiler heated up you didn't get that massive jet of steam before it plugs. I honestly wish profitec and ECM would add a spring to keep the vacuum. Relief valve closed during heat up to avoid excess water and steam splatter.
Hi r, Thanks for the comment. It's a tiny amount of water from the ECM's vacuum relief. A small amount of steam and a few drops of water. It's all captured and routed to the drip tray - no internal venting.

Why doesn't ECM make the flow control pressure gauge match the brew and steam gauges? Regardless, looks like a great machine. My ECM Synchronika is still running strong after a constant 4 years of use. These machines are built to last
Hey tpc, thanks for the question. Steam temp is a personal and often experienced based preference. If you're new to milk frothing a lower temperature results in less steam pressure which gives you more time to froth your milk before it gets too hot. Higher temp gives more pressure which produces a more vigorous roll in the pitcher helping to produce a finer froth and heats the milk faster. Pro Baristas generally prefer more pressure. Hope that helps! Marc
Highly interested in this machine! I’ve had a Bianca for 6 years. I have one concern - the brew head heating element reliability! Any more information as to its reliability?
Hey s, Thanks for the interest. I have no hard data on reliability. But I do have experience with brew head heating elements in Bezzera BZ groups. I spoke with our Lead Machine Tech who says those have historically been very robust. He also mentioned he would expect even higher reliability in the Synchronika II as those elements are only active during the Fast Heat cycle whereas the BZ group's are always on maintaining the temp. Hope that helps! Marc
Hey th, It does not require dedicated 20amp circuit and uses standard Edison type plug in North America. Max draw rating on the machine is 1600 watts which is 13.3 amps at 120 volts so getting close to 15 amps. I always try to use a 20 amp circuit. Marc
Does the six minute warm up time include the steam boiler? If not, how long does it take to warm up that too, and are these times dependent on supply voltage? I have cartridge heating in my Xenia DB but that is not widely available in the US, and this has the advantage of a flow control option which is not available on the Bezzera DE machines.
No doubt it is a well build, great machine. I am struggling between the Profitect 600 and this one. Couple of things I would consider if I were ECM/Profitec... A WATER LEVEL indicator will be very useful and helpful. How about an integrated scale? The new PID control is a great improvement, but it is still a whole generation behind. Using smartphone to make setting changes (thinking about setting on/off schedule) will be so much easier, and can be done remotely. I do notice many owners buy an extra smart switch, which is shameful for ECM/Profitec.
I have this machine from WLL - enjoying it getting ready to hard plumb it. What is the water supply rotating 90 degree on the bottom? Can I remove that or does it do more? If it is just for rotation ok but?
Hi l, Happy to hear you are enjoying your Synchronika II and thanks for the question and your patronage. Yes, it's a rotational valve to allow routing of the braided stainless plumb line in any direction. Not sure why you'd want to remove it as you'd have to replace with another 90 degree fitting that would be less flexible for routing of the hose. Marc
Hey sultan, thanks for the question. The majority of internal components like boilers, pump etc in those machines are identical. The Synch II upgrades over the Drive include: Electric capsule heaters in the group for faster warmup, push button dial for function setting and control, high front face gauge mount location, more refined finishing details and easy access to internals with quick panel removal. For brewing and steaming, capabilities and potential quality are essentially identical. It really comes down deciding if those features and qualities are worth the price difference to you. Hope that helps! Marc
What’s the downside to the accelerated heating up? Are you over-taxing the boiler or is the boiler a higher spec than the previous non accelerated version?
Hi b, no downside. The quick heat up accomplished with capsule heaters within the E61 group. Only active during initial heat up. Capsule heaters are reliable and used by other manufactures like Bezzera in their BZ groups. Marc
@@CampbellyTube I have one and I’ve been doing it for six years but sometimes in lunchtime I feel like an espresso and I can’t wait 30 minutes for it to heat up

Hey TRD, Not without using active pre-infusion first unless there's an external pump on you reservoir providing pressure on the plumb line to the machine. Marc
@@TRDFanatic I know some use a flowjet to provide water to machines. Not sure how much pressure they develop. ECM recommends 1-2 bar (15-30psi) pressure on the plumb in line. Marc
I can‘t decide between the new ECM Synchronika 2, LM Mini R or Ascaso Baby T Plus. Temperature stability, Steampower, Heat Up Time, Quality of the Preinfusion etc… What is your recommendation?
Hi s, thanks for the question. The Synchronika II has a more extensive feature set and depending on your style preference superior quality external finishing. Martrix and Duo DE models do have the heated Bezzera BZ group. The MN models are E61 with no electric heating of the groups. The Bezzera machines are very capable. Hope that helps! Marc

Yes, it's a rotational valve to allow routing of the braided stainless plumb line in any direction. Not sure why you'd want to remove it as you'd have to replace with another 90 degree fitting that would be less flexible for routing of the hose.

@@Wholelattelovepage I am hard plumbing and will have an access hole in my counter top directly under the unit not out the back...
what if you don't have plumbable water? Can you refill manually?
Hey dan, yes the machine does have a 2.8 liter internal water reservoir accessible from the top of the machine.

Any recommendations choosing between Synchronika II or Profitec Drive?
Hey sultan, thanks for the question. The majority of internal components like boilers, pump etc in those machines are identical. The Synch II upgrades over the Drive include: Electric capsule heaters in the group for faster warmup, push button dial for function setting and control, high front face gauge mount location, more refined finishing details and easy access to internals with quick panel removal. For brewing and steaming, capabilities and potential quality are essentially identical. It really comes down deciding if those features and qualities are worth the price difference to you. Hope that helps!

@ Much appreciated! thanks

PLEASE TELL THERE IS A WAY TO REDUCE HEAT UP TIME ON MY VERSION ONE SYNCHRONIKA!!!
No
Just get a wifi plug so you can do it from your phone or even schedule it.
@@CampbellyTube I have one and I’ve been doing it for six years but sometimes in lunchtime I feel like an espresso and I can’t wait 30 minutes for it to heat up
@@gigi9467 Because of this I don't buy machines on e61. They are saying that new machine can heat up in 6.5 mins but I don't think so. It's temperature of the boiler not of the e61 group
Could I still get passive preinfusion if I plumb it to a 5gal reservoir?
Hey TRD, Not without using active pre-infusion first unless there's an external pump on you reservoir providing pressure on the plumb line to the machine.
Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage Thanks Marc! Any knowledge of people using a Flojet to pressurize the line?
@@TRDFanatic I know some use a flowjet to provide water to machines. Not sure how much pressure they develop. ECM recommends 1-2 bar (15-30psi) pressure on the plumb in line.
Marc
I can‘t decide between the new ECM Synchronika 2, LM Mini R or Ascaso Baby T Plus.
Temperature stability, Steampower, Heat Up Time, Quality of the Preinfusion etc…
What is your recommendation?
How long can the active preinfusion be set to?
Mark Synchronika 2 or Becerra Matrix or Duo which has a heating element already for almost 1500 less
Marc
How does the Synchronica II compares to the Profitech Drive. Seems like other than the knob that is the only difference
Hi s, thanks for the Q. Synchronika II has electric heater in the group head and higher level of finishing details. Internally the machines are very much the same.

Which cups are those ?
Hi , There were some ECM branded cups in video. Also some delicate glass Kinto cups: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/cups-and-saucers?page=2&pf_v_brand=Kinto
I am more interested in which machine he has at home
Hi a, I had the original Synchronika in my home during Covid and a few other times since its release. I cycle through a variety of machines. Currently a Profitec Move.
Marc
Looks like you are out of stock. Any idea when they will be back in?
So whats the price ?
Current pricing here: www.wholelattelove.com/products/ecm-synchronika-ii?variant=43066593116214
Let's put this ECM Synchronika 2 against the Gaggiuino for a real match up. Yes a nod goes to the ECM for the dual boiler and it's counter presence but I bet the Gaggiuino can give you more precise extractions.
This or Lelit Bianca v3?
Hi k, if cost difference is not a consideration the finishing quality of the Synchronika II is a cut above.
Marc
Hi all
So this is like the mercedes benz of espresso machines.
Not this one. AMG collaborated on v1.
They did a collab with AMG on a special edition version of the original Synchronika
This is more like an Aston Martin 😁
$3,350 ✌️

Did he say a hole lot more? 😂
